The Traffic Conditions in Big Cities, such as B.A.

In big metropolitan regions across the world, traffic conditions seem to have the same difficulties. The

points described are some of the causes and effects of traffic, but they are all part of this topic. My

intention in this essay is to analyze the negative aspects of such an inescapable process. Traffic

congestion is characterized by traffic jams, increasing pollution, and poor road maintenance.

To begin with, being caught in traffic jams is very common in big cities. During rush hour, private cars,

public transport, trucks, taxis, all move at the same time and do not fit on highways, which are, more

often than not, not wide enough. Therefore, vehicles concentrate in small areas, causing congestion.

Inevitably , this implies taking much longer to travel from one place to another.

Furthermore, air and noise pollution is increasing more and more every year. As regards air

contamination, this is due to wasted fuel and old clapped-out vehicles cars, buses, taxis, all kinds of

means which should be out of circulation because of malfunction of their engines. Moreover, traffic

jams make motorists feel stressed and raged and honk their horns impatiently. Also, there are big

numbers of vehicles coming and going all at the same time. All this causes the rising tide of roadway

noise.

Last but not least, roads are devoid of maintenance, which causes accidents, and consequently,

congestion. Besides, if they are indeed repaired, getting them available for circulation usually takes
quite a lot of time. As a result, the main roads and avenues get even more crowded. Another factor that

should be considered is the slow response to traffic-blocking accidents. Freeing up the accident zone in

major roads faster and more effectively might be a good tactic for reducing congestion delays.

To sum up, traffic jams, pollution, and the lack of road maintenance, all contribute to bad traffic

conditions in B.A., as well as in any other metropolitan cities in the world. As users of any kind of

transportation, we must grow patient and cope with this, which does not seem to change in the short

run.

1. Measures to be implemented to improve transport & traffic condit

Rising traffic congestion is an inescapable condition in large and growing metropolitan areas
across the world. Although governments may never be able to eliminate road congestion, there
are several ways cities and states can move to curb (control) it. Some of the main measures
include limiting the number of vehicles that enter downtown, improving the rail transit network,
and decentralizing public organizations.

a measure aimed at ing - proposed a measure - to take measures (in order) to do sth (to improve
mobility)

By implementing a system through which vehicles` downtown entrance is organized by number

plate. For instance, vehicles whose number plate finishes with an even number are allowed to
circulate in downtown a specific number of days. This will certainly ease off congestion.

Especially the subway and also train, by implementing plans to extend its lines/sections and
frequency, and adding new wagons or fixing those that are not circulating due to technical
problems.

Moving the oprations of important public agencies from downtown to other smaller areas of the
city will most probably reduce traffic to the center of the city, which concentrates all the major
buildings and where people for a number of reasons necessarily move around.

2. Commuting to work has increased in the last years. Pros & cons

3. Whats the best way of travelling on holidays?

Short distances, less than 400km, terrestrial transport. Because of the time you lose at airports, checking
in, claiming luggage, checking out

Long distances, aerial transport: reduction of times, time saving, more connfortable

Sea transport is convenient in short distances to cut distances (from B.A. to Uruguay)
