Day 2:
Tessellations
- Ask the class for the 2 defining characteristics of tessellating shapes (no
gaps and no overlaps)
- Explain the 3 stages; slide (translation), flip (reflection) and turn
(rotation)
- Draw a shape on the board and ask the students to flip, slide or turn the
shape
- Hold up the boards once completed for teacher check.
Day 3:
Recognising shapes
- Watch video http://splash.abc.net.au/home#!/media/1566372/
- Explain that shapes are everywhere in all objects
- Watch the powerpoint find the shape
Day 4:
Recognising shapes from their nets.
- Guess the net
- Class to start with a whiteboard, marker and rubber
- Watch the powerpoint guess the shape and have the class guess what
shape they think the nets are.
- Hold up their whiteboards with either the answer of the shape on it
