This article explores the potential of Ytterbium doped fiber cabling and its uses. Fiber cabling
has a large amount of flexibility in terms of length and thickness, but reaches a point around
1,500nm where power and data output are limited. With the introduction of Ytterbium doped
cable in a single-stage setup, cables can be slimmed down by 55% while losing almost no
efficiency. This cabling requires even less power input than a standard cable using a minimum of
10 watts. The new cabling also has a greater amplifier efficiency by a small, although not
