4. Aoto Gang Jobs [--AOTO--]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Aoto gang offers some very risky jobs although the pay can be good, the
results can be unpredictable. The pickpocket task for example I find very
difficult to get consistent results from. You also have to be quite
inventive
with your threatening in order to squeeze money from the people on the
collect
money missions. Not to mention that working hard for the Aoto gang will not
make you the most popular guy/girl in town, with either the Magistrates or
the
Townspeople.
If you are told to steal from a Magistrate, they can be found in the
following
locations:
- Shikano-cho
- Otemon Gate
If you are told to steal from a Man, they can be found in:
- Otsuka-cho
- Kakinuma-cho

Head to the location that you have been given and search for the person
carrying the item. They will be easy to spot as they will be the only
civilian wearing a weapon in the area. Their name tag will also appear
purple
in colour when you get close. Talk to them and announce that you are going
to
take the item before you draw your sword. Then either kill them, or reduce
their health to a critical level where they will drop the item. Either
throw
them out of the way retrieve the item and flee or finish them and collect
the
spoils. Let your concience decide.
The man is dressed in a green/brown top and white torn trousers and carries
the following swords:
- Chigusa
- Dojima-no-tsuchisada
- Botan-yuki

your concience decide.
Head to the Edge of Town and find the merchant who is wandering around
carrying the item, he will have a purple name tag. Talk to them and tell
them
you are going to take the item, then dish out a Aoto style beating until
their
health gets low and they will drop the Moneybox. Now you can either pick up
the item and high tail it or finish them off. Once you are done head back
to
the Aoto Gang Headquarters to receive your pay.
Note that these types of jobs only seem to come up during the late night
and
early morning time periods

So after you have made the appropriate preparations, head to the Aoto gang
headquarters and have a chat with the broker. During the fight if he is
using the Kanesada then always be on guard for his large combo attack. This
is your worst enemy in this fight as it breaks your guard on the
penultimate
hit and then does huge damage. You can prevent this by parrying one of the
previous hits, the first is a vertical and the second a horizontal. Watch
out
for his nasty defence breakers too and the heat build up on your own sword.
My final piece of advice is to keep calm and take your time. This is not a
quick fight, you will have to wear him down slowly. Once he falls, pick up
his
weapon and head back for your rather large reward.
Take note that no matter what your relationship with the Magistrates
before,
they will all hate your guts now. So watch your back, it be hard to walk
through any areas without a magistrate picking a fight with you. Not to
mention if you are low on health then you will get thrown in jail. Once
this
mission has been completed, you can do the 'Find the truth' mission at
Amahara
shrine but prepare for another tough fight.
The Magistrate broker carries the Kannagi on easy difficulty and the
Kanesada
on normal difficulty upwards.
Head to any area you wish and kill, kill, kill as the man said. Expect to
gain
a pretty crappy reputation with everyone except the Aoto gang if you take
this
job.

5. Magistrate Jobs [--MAGI--]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The magistrates offer you some very shady jobs while you are in their
employ.
However they certainly pay you well for doing their dirty work. The
townspeople will not hate you quite as much as they did when you were an
Aoto
gang lackey. You should however prepare to become an enemy of the Aoto
gang,
be ready to be attacked by any of their henchmen as you wander around
Amahara.
The good news however is that should an Aoto goon pick a fight with you in
front of a magistrate he will shortly be freezing his sorry ass in jail.
Not
to mention there will be more of your Magistrate buddies on every corner to
put them there.
Locations
Edge of Town
- In the garden area in front of the clinic
- In the area to the left of the clinic
Otemon Gate
- In the alley behind the guard station on the left
- Just inside guard station on the right
Numata-cho
- In front of the kitty shrine, next to the girl with the sick father
- In the area to the left close to the exit near the blacksmith's
Shikano-cho
- Inside the dojo compound, to the right of the gate as you enter
- Behind one of the boxes near the Dojo exit
- In the last doorway on your right near the exit opposite the entrance
Kakinuma-cho
- Next to the lamp, to the right of the entrance to the Inn
More locations coming soon.
Finally, the easiest way to find your contact is to look at the status
screen.
Just look for the dark green dot hidden away in one of the little nooks,
and
that will be your man. Head to his location and give him the documents and
then return to the Magistrate's office for your pay.
Alternatively you can just kill the contact for the item, but that isn't
too
sporting now is it?

So after you have made the appropriate preparations, head to the Aoto gang
headquarters and have a chat with the broker. During the fight if he is
using the Murasame they keep your distance, which is no easy task given the
length of the thing! Most of his attacks are easy to parry though, which
just
means you have to watch out for his nasty defence breakers and the heat
build
up on your own sword. My final piece of advice is to keep calm and take
your
time. This is not a quick fight, you will have to wear him down slowly.
Once
he falls, pick up his weapon and head back for your rather large reward.
Take note that no matter what your relationship with the Aoto Gang before,
they will all hate your guts now. So watch your back...especially at night
when there are fewer magistrates around. Once this mission has been
completed,
you can do the 'Find the truth' mission at Amahara shrine but prepare for
another tough fight.

on normal difficulty upwards.
Head to any area you wish and kill, kill, kill as the man said. Expect to
gain
a pretty crappy reputation with everyone except the Magistrates if you take
this job.

6. Amakaze Jobs [-AMAKAZ-]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Working for the townspeople is the least risky, however unfortunately the
pay
isn't great. On the plus side though the people will love you and give you
a
huge discount in their stores. Not to mention that warm feeling you get
from
helping people...or something like that.

7. Foreigner Jobs [-FOREIG-]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the evening time period, Foreigner can be found in various locations
around Otemon gate and will give you a mission. The pay is average but the
mission is very easy to complete.
a) Foreign Message - 400 mon
----------------------------
When receiving the mission take care to read what the message the foreigner
wants you to give to his wife is. It will be one of three options, but you
cannot look up what to say on the status screen, you must remember it. The
mission is to find his wife and deliver the message he gave you, she will
usually appear at whatever location you choose to visit next. She can be
easily identified as the running lady in foreign dress, she will also have
a
purple tag with the word 'Wife'. Simply talk to her and give her the
correct
message and then return to the foreigner to collect your reward. Note that
he may not be in the same position when you return to Otemon gate. He will
also give you 200 mon even if you get the message wrong, bonus!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Side Quests [--SIDE--]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Could this be true? The assassin says he was sent by the Magistrate
broker."
If you win then he will start spilling the beans on his employer and the
'Find
the truth' mission begins. Simply head to the appropriate broker and have a
word with the backstabber. You are then presented with two choices, kill
them
for the satisfaction of revenge or forgive them for the satisfaction of an
extra 2000 mon in your George Stobbart sized pockets.
For tips on fighting the brokers, see the appropriate 'Kill the broker'
mission.
b) Sword Informant
------------------
Coming Soon!
c) Girl in Numata-cho
---------------------
There is a girl who stands outside her sick father's house in Numata-cho at
all times of the day. If you talk to her she will say something about how
her
father would feel a little better if he had ???. Where ??? will be a fairly
obvious clue about one of the items in the game. If you return to her with
the
item that was hinted in your inventory, you will be given the option to
give
it to her. If you give a total of 10 items to her then her father will be
cured! The father can then be found at Amahara Shrine at any time of day
and
he is quite skilled with a sword. If you decide to fight him, prepare for a
tough fight. On hard mode prepare for a long fight too, even with a high
attack modifier and a devil mushroom or sword oil it can take a long time
to
whittle down his massive life bar.
After you complete the 'Find the truth' mission and kill you would be
assassin
Rakusui will no longer appear as an opponent and Kotsubo will mention he is
missing...but whether there is any more to this sub quest I do not know. If
you find anything, please send me an email at TheManFromEngland@hotmail.com
e) Dojo, in Shikano-cho
-----------------------
If you visit the dojo during the day then you can take part in a number of
training exercises as well as challenging the master, Tessho.

9. Tips and Tricks [--TIPS--]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Take a look at the wanted poster at the Magistrate's Office, the picture
on display cycles through characters from the original Way of the Samurai
including:
- Murasaki
- Dona dona
- Shiretoko
- The kitty shrine in Numata-cho can be found next to the girl with the
sick
father. You can pick up the 'Happy Cat' with the square button and then
either bash people over the head or throw it and it will make a "Meow!"
sound.
- You can check your popularity with any of the three factions by talking
to:
- One of the three old ladies next to your house in Otsuka-cho
- The Aoto gang thug in the main room of the Aoto gang mansion
- The magistrate in the armoury room of the Magistrate's Office main
building
