EDDIS AND DIVISION LEVEL

NARRATIVE REPORT

According to Edward Teller , The science of today is the technology of tomorrow. Science is
not just about experiments but practically applying those in real life situations.
To further hone the knowledge and skills of students and also teachers in the field of
Science, a Science and Technology Fair, with the theme ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND
CONSERVATION OF THE ECOSYSTEM, was conducted on September 27, 2016 in Dr. Pablito V.
Mendoza Sr. High School by the Division of Bulacan, together with the Bulacan Secondary
Secondary Teachers Association (BSSTA).
Weeks prior to the contest, a meeting was initiated by the BSSTA, headed by Mrs. Lourdes
Valondo, as the Division Science Coordinator, with the representatives of each host schools from
different EDDIS in Bulacan. The meeting focused on the plans, contest mechanics, rules and
regulations of the upcoming Science and Technology Fair.
The contest day went smoothly and organized accordingly. Twenty five schools from EDDIS II
participated in the different competition areas. The contest was divided into four different areas,
namely: Science Quiz Bee, Essay Writing Contest and Poster Making Contest for students and On
the Spot Improvisation which is intended for the Science teachers.
The contest started with an opening program, attended by the officers, the host school head,
Mrs. Eufracia D. Canoza, and the Division Science Coordinator, Mrs. Lourdes Valondo. Barangay
Chairman Virgilio Paglinawan and Mayor Arnel Mendoza were also present.
The contest proper immediately took place after the opening program. The participants
proceed in their respective rooms, where the contest areas were assigned. Before the afternoon
ends, an awarding program was conducted to give recognitions and certificates who won in the
different areas of the contest. As part of the agreement in the rules and regulations stipulated in the
Division memorandum, the student form schools that ranked upper fifty percent of total
participating schools will compete in the Division Level. The host school also got awards in the Quiz
Bee competition, Michael Melencio and Ayessa Dheybert Betoy for Grade 8 and 9 respectively. The
two students will compete again in the Division Level Science and Technology Fair.
The Division Science and Technology Fair was held on October 19-20, 2016 in Mariano
Ponce National High School Baliwag, Bulacan. The contest started with an opening program, with
the same officers attended and the contest proper started afterwards. Winners from different EDDIS
in Bulacan came over to participate in the contest. The said event also composed of different areas
of competition in the EDDIS level, with the addition of investigatory project (IPs), wherein the
participants in IPs compete directly in the Division level.
At the end of the afternoon, the awarding program took place and the winners were given
recognitions and certificates. Michael Melencio, from Dr. Pablito V. Mendoza Sr. High School, got
2nd place in Science Quiz Bee Grade 8.

1. The Schools Division of Bulacan announces the conduct of the Division Science and Technology
Fair (DSTF) FOR School Year (SY) 2016-2017 from October 20-21, 2016 at Mariano Ponce
National High School, Bagong Nayon, Baliuag, Bulacan with the theme Environmental Protection and
Conservation of the Ecosystem. The conduct of the Eddis Science and Technology Fairs (STFs) shall be
held on the following dates and venues:

2. The STF aims to promote Science and Technology consciousness among the youth and identify the
most creative/innovative and the best Science and Technology researchers who will represent the
Division in the Regional Level STF. The schools are encouraged to promote Science investigatory
projects that are related to environmental protection and conservation.
3. The official participants in the 2016 DSTF are the EDDIS Winners in each of the different Categories:
Science Quiz 7-11, Essay Writing Contest, Poster Making Contest, and On-the-Spot Improvisation
(Teacher Team).The number of EDDIS winners is 50% of the total number of school-participants in the
EDDIS.
4. All Investigatory Project (IP) entries submitted on time from the different participating schools will all
compete in the Division Level and will be considered as the official participants on each category:

5. Expenses to be incurred by the participants shall be charged to schools MOOE, local funds or other
sources subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
