Drops of Being 1
2 Drops of Being
It was not yet midsummer, but the light remained late into the
evening as the water insects danced in it’s haze, like moths to
a lamp, and dark shadows lingered across the river bringing
with them the onset of the night.
Did I wish to tread along the outstretched path that lay ahead
of that upon which we had already trodden and along which
you would continue, or did I prefer you to return me to where

our roads had met at the cross roads, and pass along in the
direction I had previously been going?
I married the devil and fought it, then beat it, then consumed
it.
For that great Love we had that bound us to each other could
only procure great beauty and True Love for life and all
mankind.
Like this, the mind is always honest and balanced within its
various functional attributes.
Yet one can only truly love another, if one loves oneself and
that Love can only come through True Knowledge of one’s
Being, that which connects to all.
For it does not want to expand its own island, but the territory
of the whole. So in this way, love of self is love of all.
Drops of Being 5
For Love is the highest form of purification that fills the darkest
corners of one’s being with radiant light.
When one is loved and loves, they shine with the gleam that
only Love can polish a person with.
Without Love one can never be beautiful, for when the quality
of Love is awake, so does one’s Being manifest on the surface
as a mood of calm equilibrium, a reflection of perfection that
can only be found within a spread of balanced emotions of
which Love is the strongest.
as one and the same, we see that all is bound up in the distorted
way of the ‘hate of love’.
I shall talk about these matters at greater length, but will now
describe to you a transitory part of my journey through my
meditative state, where I undertook a succession of travels
with a guide that helped me to see the state of things as they
really are.
She had the best knowledge of all and I kept her with me at
all times, understanding her more clearly as I progressed.
And then I saw her screaming at the burns and deep cuts that
we inflicted on her body. And I heard her aching groans within
the wind, trees and plants that tried to cry out against such
destruction.

For what do our physical minds hold further than a few scattered
memories of childhood? A flash here and a flash there,
unrecorded in the memory except as psychological
adjustments, behavioural role, in as much, more limpets for
the Inner Being to shed.
So instead, I shall tell you a story that will imitate the images I
had when I woke up by the water’s edge that day and stepped
onto the path towards a blinding light…
12 Drops of Being
I came to a small town that lay many miles from the big city.
The sun beat down very hard onto this region and both day
and night ate the same proportion of time.
The roads were not strong enough to hold much traffic and
people, along with their beasts of burden pulling rickety old
carts, carried loads from place to place.
One would see those that did succumb to the difficult journey,
fixing their broken wheels and engines by the side of the road.
Many people would crowd round to view such a scene and
some offered their help in return for refreshment.
Often the earth became too scorched and would fry the small
shoots that made their first appearance just above the ground.
There had not been enough rainfall and local irrigation and
use of ground water supplies were barely enough to go around
the local population to drink and cook, let alone feed the plants
as well.
Yet the people of these towns still sang of better times and
hummed great rhythms that their ancestors had taught them as
they washed their clothes in the local river and hung them out
to dry in the dusty air.
There was no work, for the harvest had failed and few could
still afford to go to the bar, now hanging out on the streets

with likewise companions, idle and restless. They began to
pick fights with each other and form rival gangs.
There was much bullying during this period. And the women
too became harassed by the street dwellers.
All their effort and strength were consumed by their daily work,
where they chipped away at metal contents inside the earth,
spending long hours away from fresh air and light.
Even though the bar stayed open, each man stayed at home
after work, hard ached from the physical endurance they
suffered each day.
But they had no other option. For all their small trading
businesses had dwindled into shabby decline as no one had

And they could no longer find Truth within the ancient thoughts
that had been handed down by their ancestors, for it seemed
that Truth and Beauty that was spoken of within these ideals
was totally incompatible to the worldly existence they lived in.

Coming across a small hut by the side of the road that seemed
to be offering food and presuming that this was a type of

The trees were tall at the back and their height dropped
delicately down through various smaller tree-like plants and
finally to smaller bushes upon which hung exotic fruits of all
types and vegetables growing at their feet.
There was a still calm in the air as the clear night sky watched
over this haven of peace, so close to the turmoil that
encompassed it.
Those you have seen inside have remained late, for they
are telling us interesting tales of other lands and we enjoy
receiving such knowledge.”
The tallest of them stood up, taking a long wooden staff that
had been previously positioned behind her, in her hand.
As I sat down at the small table, she passed me the cup and I
drank thirstily, a nectar that tasted so sweet and reminded me
of all the fruits I had ever consumed.

“Drink and eat among us friend, for you must have trekked
a long way down the path to have arrived here.
Not all passers-by notice this small abode, but those who
do receive what they need in terms of their basic
nourishment and shelter.
No one can offer them anything there, for they have barely
enough for themselves and those that can, are afraid to
give.”
Just as some were big, others were so small that they could
not be seen by the naked eye.
Just as the wind would carry the seeds of all plants and
guide them to ground where they may plant themselves
within the Earth, so would they grow in the warmth of
her womb into bounteous forms of fruits, vegetables and
medicines that balance our complete nutritional
requirements.
And she made sure that there was enough supply for all to
survive within their natural environment as well as
providing nutrients to those living organisms that stood
rooted to the ground.
So, Earth was not fairly represented and only few human
beings gained.

And with her words, she transported our minds to the centre
of the ocean.
That great boat stood still now and laughed at the waves as
they attempted to beat it. She laughed for she felt no pain, her
hard walls protecting her from any ambush.
And she revelled in delight as her hungry belly was filled by the
contents of the ocean, sucking noisily through her vast trunk as
she drank and ate the many creatures.
And there were those who had run away from unhappiness,

For reflected above the stormy clouds in the vast space of the
sky, when some proportion of light fell through a tiny hole in
the tumultuous storm and shone upon them, we saw the
footprints of that which was imaged in Infinity.
But small and large fish lay dead on that shore and next to
them lay those birds of the sea that hunted the waters.
Beside them lay small animals who had relied upon them as
prey.
Its fortress had been long knocked down and left in shambles,
the mere outline remaining of its remnant walls.
And I saw in a flash that it was the mind of mankind that was
projecting that image, having collectively converted it from
one of beauty.

And just as the balance of our own body, mind and Inner
Being creates the necessary equilibrium in our lives,
equilibrium of the Earth within the Universe as its
container is essential to its survival.
And then there are those who barely have enough to merely
survive.
Even the common thief, who steals to feed and house his
children is realistically showing desperation at a system
that does not allow his proper survival and occupations
that cannot capture his interest.
For since we created that false god to rule even our basic
means of survival upon this Earth, we have twirled deeper
and deeper down a spiral away from our pure original
wisdom nature.
