DIARY

DAY 1

For hydrography task, we firstly briefed by Prof Mat Akhir Bin Mohd Wazir and Sr Dr
Mohd Othman Bin Mohd Yusof on how the procedure to conduct it. There will be 3
groups that will assist the one on the boat with tracking and tide reading while the
other 3 will perform the detail taking that involve 1.4 km long and 40meters width
along the seashore. Our team are given the honor to be the first team that will in
charge of setting the path of the boat into correct allignment inside the hydropro. Sr
Dr Mohd Othman are in charge of setting the hydropro, especially the coordinate
system we used, and to design the line.Representative of other team and us must
watch and learn how to set it as our group also will send a representatives that will
guide the other group for their next trip. Next is to do the barcheck calibration which
in our case the depth reading shows the same reading as the barcheck so we
proceed with sounding. Other that setting the boat into correct allignment, we are
also needed to record the time and depth each time the tracking team managed to
track the prism on boat. After 8 lines covered, we stopped to let other group switch
places and let other group continue with the next line. Our next task is as the
tracking team, one person will be in charge of the tracking using the total station, the
rest will assist on communicating with the team on boat, recording the time, bearing
and distance. The tracking is for the transferring X,Y position of horizontal and
vertical control to the boats position. After the next team arrived, we again switch
places with the tide reading team and this time we will be in charge of the tide
reading, our work is to record the tide reading for each 10 minutes. The tidereading
is to transfer the tidal level of each recorded data to manually calculate the depth of
each fixed point, The day ended with 4 team managed to board the boat and more
than 40 lines covered.

Day 2

After finishing with our of sounding, tracking and tide reading, we proceed with
horizontal and vertical control for the hydrography task. Our reference is from the
Temporary Benchmark of UiTM to start our survey of detail taking. We managed to
cover the road, jetty, ground level, the electric and lamp post, and building area. The
traverse used is an open traverse which is suitable for this task since it involves
taking detail of the area. Next we proceed with the levelling procedure to transfer
height to each point and station. For levelling procedure, all groups are combined so
that the levelling work can be done faster.
Day 3

after all the field procedure have finished, we proceed with processing of the data,
we have to calculate the depth and position of each fixed point by referring to the
tide reading so that each point has their correct tide reading level hence the true
depth of the point. We are also need to import the data of detailing into CDS for
further verification of the data and next transfer the data into AutoCad for further
editting.
