Historical Revisionism: Marcos made the Philippines great

History, in and of itself, is a powerful, compelling, and even dangerous force. Its use can
create a country from almost nothing, it can bind a people together, it can whip them into frenzy,
it can cow dissent, it can raise a nation and unleash it upon the world, it can subjugate and
oppress the powerless. We need historical revisionism. What we do not need is the
insidiousness of denial, the bedeviling of negation, and the pursuit of revision in favor of
agenda. What bothers today is not revisionism, in the academic sense, butfor lack of a better
termillegitimate revisionism, through unethical techniques; prominent current examples
include the reworking of the Marcos historical narrative in service of his political absolution.
(For brevity's sake, this sort of politically motivated historical revisionism can be classified as
"bad history"the abuse of history for self-indulgent, often political or narcissistic (even on a
national level) purposes.) But, that is not the only source of illegitimate historical revisionism
working its way through our imagined community.

History is very powerful in determining the status of present and future. Martial law was
and never be the golden era of our country. It is the epitome of atrocity, corruption and
hypocrisy. The bad story of our past will never be altered by any flowery story made by the
Marcos loyalist. Historical Revisionism is not new today, remember when the late Pres. Marcos
created a book that distinguishes him as Gods chosen leader. If the plan was implemented in
order then maybe the Martial Law era will be forgotten by millennial.
The article states that our country needs Historical Revisionism, yes we need historical
revisionism. We Filipinos has the rights to know what happened to the ill gotten wealth of the
Marcoses, we deserve to know the everything even if we didnt witness the event, we shall know
every government actions towards the implementation of some Marcos apologist to revised or
alter the Martial Law era. Martial Law is part of our countrys atrocious era, it defined our social
status.
It is a big no for me to implement fully the Historical Revisions about Martial Law and
Marcos Atrocities. Truth shall prevail, and we deserve every little fact about it. Aside from that
it very costly in terms of printing of books, catalogues, we have so many problems and issues
facing right now.
Marcos never made the Philippines great; the Filipinos are.
