Professional Experience
 Worked as Project Director of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Project. The Project Idea
Note (PIN Document) prepared and approved by World Bank. The project is expected to
generate 2 million equivalent tCO2 CERs. The scope of the project is to minimize underground
pipeline leaks by replacing steel pipes with Medium Density Polyethylene Pipes. Presently
project status is pending due to change in management.
 Conceived and initiated the Geographical Information System (GIS) Project in 1996. Planned,
prepared tender documents, and executed GIS Project later developed road map for the
implementation of Geographical Information System in SSGC. The cost of project was Rs. 42
million for the phase one. The scope of first phase of the project was to scan, digitized 2000
maps (including Karachi and 30 Cities and Towns) of Sindh and Balochistan along with the
development of database for 12,000 km of distribution and 3,000 km of transmission natural gas
pipeline network inclusive of fittings at parcel level. The second phase was to embed with CRM
and Project Management Applications.
 Operation and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) a US$
12million project installed for the monitoring and control of large gas customers situated at gas
network end. The system was comprising of two military grade main-frame computers running
in Active and hot-standby mode fully redundant system. The Central Control and Remote
Stations were linked via radio linked wireless communication.
  Complied ‘Standard Operating Procedures for Natural Gas Distribution’ and prepared ‘Disaster
Management Plan for Karachi Natural Gas Distribution Network’.
 Worked as Gas Training Institute administrator and faculty member. Responsibilities were to
plan and organize technical and managerial courses, prepare quarterly schedule, identify
training requirements for SSGCL staff in close consultation with different sectional heads,
prepare course outlines, arrange and assess trainers and quality of course, follow up of training
results and budgeting for the institute. In two years time arranged trainings for +5000
participants.

 Worked as Manager (Corporate Planning) prepared company database, assisted management in

implementing good corporate governance practices, prepared roadmap and road shows for the
privatization of SSGC.
 Developed Karachi Gas Distribution Supply Main Network Model using British Gas Network
Analysis Software (SNAP), analysed gas distribution system and optimized line pressures in
different segments to ensure effective load management and reduce line losses.
 Analysed and designed gas distribution network for an Industrial Estate, through a bilateral
agreement between M/s SSGC and M/s Gaslink, Nigeria.

Software Experience

• Proficient in using MS Window family of operating systems, Microsoft Office family

products and Microsoft Project. Good knowledge of developing databases for operational
requirements using MS Access and MS SQL Server.
• Good working knowledge of popular GIS packages like MapInfo and ArcGIS, and ILWIS
satellite image processing software.
• Excellent hands on experience of designing and analysis of Gas Distribution Pipeline
Network analysis software ‘SNAP’ of British Gas.

Current Employment

 Being focal person responsibilities are to collect and assess line-pipe requirement (+2000km per
annum, pipe diameter size ranging from 20mm-180mm Polyethylene and ¾ inch to 36 inch
Steel line pipes), associated fittings and materials, preparation of budgetary proposals for
equipments and machinery. Follow-up of stock levels, procurement process and ensure timely
availability of material to end users.
