A Study of the Pentagram Meditation and its Effects, Part 1

Posted December 10th, 2007 by Dennis Wier

A form of meditation involving the

movement of consciousness is the following, done with the form of a
pentagram. The pentagram is commonly known as a five pointed star.
This symbol is an ancient design and has been found to have been used
at least since 3500 B.C.E.

The pentagram has been associated with

pagans, Christians, Ishtar, Satan (only since mid 20th
century), witches, the planet Venus which appears to inscribe a
pentagram as it moves through the heavens, and the mathematical value
for the Golden Mean: the ratio between two successive Fibonacci
numbers, Phi or ?,
which has the irrational value 1.6180339887498948482... The Golden
Mean ratio is also commonly seen in the structures of growing plants,
butterflies, frogs and humans. This results because the growing form
requires the minimum energy, and therefore it is termed natural.
It seems clear that if you want to discover the meaning of the
Golden Mean as a foundation of life, you would need to spend some
time in deep contemplation or in meditation on these forms.
Certainly, ancient civilizations noticed how important the Golden
Mean was and adepts spent considerable time studying and meditating
on this concept. Some ancient and occult practices refer to a form
of meditation based on the logarithmic spiral which also embodies a
similar geometry.

There are many forms of meditation using

the concept of the Golden Mean. This present paper will describe a
form of meditation which anyone can do.

The geometry of the pentagram embodies

the Golden Mean in that the ratio between the base and sides of each
of the five isosceles triangles with a vertex angle of 36 degrees
constituting the pentagram are in the Golden Mean ratio.

Some mystical and occult meanings of the

pentagram can be illuminated by meditation. And here is how I found
it is done. Of course, what is written here is only a starting point
for this type of meditation. You might have different experiences
and different results. And you can discover other forms of
meditation as well.
The Pentagram Body
The Setting of the Meditation

One way to practice the meditation of

the Pentagram Body is to stand with the legs apart and the arms
spread like the famous drawing by Leonardo da Vinci. This is, by no
means, the only way to practice this meditation, but it will be
described here as an illustration of a method of practice.
Another way is to sit in bed. I
practice this form from 4am until 5 am without interruption, so some
of the descriptions below will be from this point of view. Again,
this specific method is not definitive; others may have different
methods.
The Basic Method

First, place your awareness at the crown

of your head, then move your awareness to your left foot. Then, from
your left foot, move your awareness to your right hand. From there,
move your awareness to your left hand. Then, from your left hand,
move your awareness to your right foot. Finally, move your awareness
to the crown of your head. If you are standing, with your legs apart
and your hands outstretched to your sides, shoulder height, you will
have made the form of a pentagram. Make the corners sharp. This
entire movement is one loop and is the trance generating loop (TGL)
of the pentagram body. It will make one trance after a few
repetitions.

Second, as you practice this loop

several times, you will probably, at some point, space out or lose
track of where you are. You might even start to dream or think about
other things. This subjective experience indicates a trance. This
is because you are dissociated and your short term memory as well as
critical judgment fail when you are in a trance. As soon as you
realize that you have lost it, or spaced out, then go back to the
first loop. This means that you start over again from the crown of
your head. This conscious action of realizing you are in a trance
and deliberately going back to the first loop makes the second TGL
(also a loop) of this meditation practice; that is, you connect the
perceived result of the trance with the cause and you use this
observation to make another trance generating loop. This second TGL
will also produce a trance. So, after some time you will have two
trances and two loops.

Third, as you discover the effects of

this meditation, connect the effects of the first two loops with the
first inner loop. This will constitute a third TGL and will increase
the strength of the trance (the wyrd) considerably if you persist in
doing this meditation every day for some weeks. In creating this
third TGL, you begin to create a more stable meditation. Three loops
are necessary to get good, consistent results.

There are many variations possible with

this meditation, including changing the size of the pentagram,
associating each point with an energy, and so on. Some specific
variations are described below.
Pentagram of the
Third Eye

The form of the pentagram is created, as in the Pentagram Body

above, but positioned in the third eye, that is, between the two
physical eyes. Imagine that you are drawing the pentagram in front
of you. The size of the pentagram is about the size which would fit
between your eyes, positioned a foot in front of your physical eyes.
Remember to keep the points of the pentagram as sharp as possible.
There is a tendency to traverse the points of the pentagram in a
rhythmical fashion. This is the first TGL of the pentagram of the
third eye.

The second TGL happens when you space out, that is, you go into a
trance because of the first TGL. You know you are in a trance because
the form gets sloppy or you forget where you were. Simply remember
to start the pentagram again, and this act consists of the second
TGL. Continue in this way for one hour. Remember that when you
space out, go back to the pentagram.
Pentagram of the Well

The form of the pentagram is created

in a well. You are looking down the circular well. It is a dark
well and about five feet down the well you inscribe a bright, yellow
pentagram, so that each of the points touch the side of the well.
This guarantees that the pentagram will have the correct Golden Mean
form.

Do six or so inscribed forms initially. Then, for each successive

form or form group, let the pentagram go deeper into the well. As it
goes deeper, the form gets smaller. Let the form get very small as
the pentagram goes very deep into the well. It can become
microscopic, yet you see it clearly and the points of the pentagram
are distinct. Stay as deep in the well as long as possible. This is
the first TGL of the pentagram in the well.

Whenever you trance, and lose the

pentagram or begin to think about something else, go back to the top
of the well and start over again. This constitutes the second TGL,
and is an important part of the meditation. Remember to go as deep
as possible into the well. Don't try to visualize anything else;
just the pentagram.
Terminating the Meditation

At some
point, of course, you will stop meditating. Maybe you meditate for
an hour and then you stop. What do you do next? It is sometime
after you stop meditating that the effects of the meditation will
begin to manifest. The trance epsilon is an interval of time between
the end of the meditation and the start of any effects. This interval
may be from five to twenty minutes or even longer depending on how
you have terminated your meditation.

After the trance epsilon any effects

of the meditation can be noted. The effects may consist of intense
visualizations or other phenomena. The end of the trance epsilon
occurs when these phenomena commence. The effects may continue from
about 30 minutes to two hours or longer.
Effects of the Pentagram Meditation

As noted in
the beginning of this paper, the Golden Mean ratio is certainly
associated with the manifestation of minimum energy requirements in
the growth of living things. The idea of life and beauty is spread
by the pentagram meditation. In doing so, it interferes with the
manifestation of off-frequency or non-life-supportive energies. The
meditation may have some protecting effect, and, indeed, the form of
the pentagram itself has been used as a psychic protector.
Increased and More Intense Visualizations

One definite effect I have noticed is

the intensity and clarity of visualizations after meditation. This
might occur because the sharpness of the points of the pentagram are
emphasized. Certainly repeated constructive visualization practice
can enliven the inner visual awareness.

It may be that this form of the

Pentagram Meditation stimulates the pineal gland.

The content of the

visualizations are often
words, sometimes writing which I can read, although it is sometimes
in another language. In addition, I clearly see people's faces in
detail who I do not know and never met. Other times, I seem to be in
places I have never been to physically nor even in movies. These
visualizations do not seem to be a product of memory or even fantasy.
They seem real, or have a real quality about them. The reality of
these visualizations seem to relate to something, but I don't know
what. It seems real, and is not me and not anything I have
experienced. So, it seems to be like remote viewing, but I don't
understand the connection to my own life or why I have these specific
visualizations. I considered they could be hypnotic, but they don't
seem to relate to any hypnotic suggestion.

Visualizations and the Psychic Body
Submitted by Dennis Wier on Mon, 12/10/2007 - 05:43.

One interesting, recent effect is awareness of a psychic body. That is, the multiple visions of
people I don't know and never met also stimulated me to become aware of myself. I experience
myself as a sort of elongated egg form with a single eye.

In addition, while experiencing myself in this state, I 'breathe' through my spine in some way. My
spine in this egg is a tube and seems to receive 'energy' from the surrounding non-physical
realm.

I don't seem to have feet in this state, but I have the sense that I swim like a fish and fly like a
bird.

There are many people around. Most seem not to notice me, but there are a few people I do
recognize and greet.

At present, I consider this effect to be a point of beginning of the third TGL.
