Early Stage 1 Term 1 2017

Outcomes

By the end of the term, students should be able to:


1. identify the library and the teacher librarian within the school
2. know and follow the rules within the library
3. demonstrate correct book care
4. know the Junior Fiction section of the library
5. know and identify the parts of a book, including the spine label and barcode
6. know and demonstrate the correct borrowing and returning procedures

Success Criteria: Kindergarten orientation has endeavoured to welcome the new students to the
library environment, the focus is on helping the students feel safe and comfortable in the library,
to encourage regular borrowing and to give confidence to students in their borrowing choices.
Creative responses to texts with high engagement for all students. The number of regular
borrowers in Kindergarten is evidence that the program is meeting its outcomes. All students are
demonstrating good understanding of library procedures, rules and routines.
