Water, however, needs an efficient distribution system to ensure that it is available in the right place when needed and can be conveyed away in the form of waste water or sewage safely. To fulfil this need SAPPCO DAMMAM FACTORY was formed to produce Polyethylene piping systems to the latest internationally recognised Standards requirements. During recent years the adoption of polyethylene pipework has accelerated in all developed countries. This rapid growth in the use of polyethylene pipe is due in part to benefits over steel or ductile iron pipe systems, but possibly more to the development of several advanced Jointing techniques which eliminate the use of metal fittings. The introduction cof new high performance polyethylene pipe compounds by the leading Intemational manufacturers has also widened the scope of applications SAPPCO Polyethylene pipes are manufactured from these New Generation of readymade black pipe compounds. These compounds contain correct type and quantity of carbon black which is perfectly dispersed to give the maximum possi je protection from sunlight and heat SAPPCO manufacture and specify pipe products most suitable for the special environmental conditions prevailing in Saudi Arabia and in the Gulf Areas SAPPCO DAMMAM FACTORY also manufacture: - Polyethylene sub-duct/miniduet for Fibre Optic Cable/Telecom, - CPYC pipes for Hot and Cold water distribution systems - Unplasticised (rigid) PVC pipes for various applications. 2CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SAPPCO’s most important objective “Customer Satisfaction” isachieved with the comprehensive provision of high-quality products and services, Asa leader in the plastic pipe industry, SAPPCO DAMMAM FACTORY: + Continually develope/manufacture new products. + Modernize manufacturing extrusion system equipments. + The quality management system (QMS) is characterized by a certified and upgraded QMS in accordance with [SO 9001 : 2008 + In addition, our well experienced staff offers extensive industry knowledge and field experience with thermoplastic piping products to the customers. + Continuous evaluation and improvement of the process. + Customer satisfaction is SAPPCO’s top objective. PIPE LENGTH Polyethylene pipesin thesize range 16mm to 110 mm outside diameter are available in coils (rolls) of 50 meter and 100 meter lengths. ‘The pipes in larger diameters are supplied in straight lengths of 6,9 or 12 meters. Other lengths can be supplied by arrangement 14 TRENCHLESS _ INSTALLATION OF HDPEPIPING UNDER THE EXISTING ROADS, TECHNOLOGY _ RAILWAYS, AIRPORT RUNWAYS, RIVERS AND CANALS. “HORIZONTAL | SAPPCO-DAMMAM HDPE pipes are well suited for the utility ducting/ DIRECTIONAL _ Piping (for telecom & fiber optics networks and power cables) installed DRILLING” using the latest state of the art trenchless horizontal directional drilling technology. 1S CONTRACTION _ The co-efficient of linear expansion of Polyethylene pipes is greater AND EXPANSION _ than that of metallic pipes. Due cognizance of this must be taken when designing polyethylene pipe installations. For above ground systems it will invariably be found that by utilizing the natural flexibility of the pipe and by judicious siting of anchor and support brackets, contraction and expansion can conveniently be accommodated at required directional changes, and no expansion joints are needed. There may be a need for the use of expansion joints for vertical installation 16 TRANSPORTATION During transportation and storage. polyethylene pipe coils should be laid HANDLING AND on fiat bed which must be free from nails, stones and sharp edges. When STORAGE handled. care should be exercised to avoid damage to the wall surfaces and thus pipes should not be dragged or dropped over the ground or hard surfaces. Metal slings, hooks or chains should not come into direct contact with the pipe. ‘The pipe. if stored in an open area must be protected from direct sunlight or heat. Coils may be stored on edge or stacked flat and must not be in contact with hot surfaces. Straight pipe stacking should be carried out in staggered position. Pipes stored on rollers should not be subject to strains Which could cause distortion of the pipe. 17 COILINGAND During manufacturing pipes are coiled on mechanical coilers and taped UNCOILING at several points to form neat, compact and stable coils which will with stand repeated handling during transportation and storage. Care should be excercised when uncoiling, particularly with sizes 63 mm and above. Movement of the free outer pipe end should always be controlled. Do not allow uncoiling of larger sizes to be done in such a way that the pipe leaves the coil in spiral form. It can be extremely difficult to straighten spiralled pipe without damage by excess bending and the creation of potenially dangerous condition 18 FITTINGS SAPPCO-DAMMAM supply suitable fittings for jointing systems for Polyethylene pipes from well known manufacturers. Further information regarding the fittings and jointing can be obtained from our Technical Sales Department. A 19 JOINTING 1.1 MECHANICAL, JOINTING Important Note: For small bore pipe connections, compression type joints are considered tisfactory. These may be made of plastic or metal. The idea of the mechanical jointing essentially con: of tightening the pipe by mean of screwed connections in such a way that water tightness is fully secured. The joint can also be used for connections with pipe of other material e.g steel and other plastic pipes. The joint is completed by pushing the back nut, spring follower and rubber ring on to the plain pipe end, and then inserting into the socket of the fitting. The back nut is then tightened by hand for plastic fittings and with suitable spanner for metal fittings A variety of SAPPCO-DAMMAM. igh quality Quick Joint Fittings are available from When jointing PE Pipe with compression fittings, oil based jointing compounds must not be used as this may cause stress cracking of the polyethylene. If packing in the jointing is necessary, the use of PTFE tape is recommended. 19.2 PERMANENT JOINTING Depending on the size of pipe and type of application, there are also available a number of methods of permanent jointing HDPE Pipes. All permanent jointing systems briefly mentioned below for HDPE Pipework install mn require special equipment and assembly aids Customers are advised to seek full information regarding the permanent jointing system available from our Technical Sales Department. 192-1 BUTT FUSION JOINTING ‘The two pipe end faces to be welded, carefully cleaned in advance, are held lightly pressed against a heated tool. As soon as the welding temperature is reached, the heated tool is quickly withdrawn from the weld faces, and the pipe ends are pressed together to form a permanent joint. A uniform size bead must be formed around the joint, 19.22 ELECTROFUSION The electrically weldable fituings contain embeded resistance wire which is heated until the fitting interior and the pipe exterior fuse together. Thus a homogeneous bond is formed between the pipe and the Electrofusion fitting 1923 SOCKET FUSION WELDING The jointing of HDPE pipe by using HDPE Fitting is done by the Socket fusion welding method employing a heating tool. One end of the pipe is fitted into the female side of the heating tool, while fitting is placed on the male side of the tool. When the heating tool reaches a preset temperature, then the pipe and fitting are withdrawn off the tool and immediately joined together to form a permanent joint.
