EXPERIENCE CHERRY CREEK SCHOOL DISTRICT

8/2017-12/2017 Student Teacher
I completed my Student Teaching practicum in 4th Grade at Canyon Creek
Elementary. I planned active, engaging, and appropriately challenging
lessons for our 4th grade students with the guidance of my cooperating
teacher and within the curriculum expectations of the school district. Our
class of students included 8 English Language Learners, 5 students who
receive special education services, 3 students who receive Gifted and
Talented support, and a range of learning styles and needs. I planned and
taught whole-class lessons in all subject areas, provided small-group
interventions and one-on-one support in reading, writing and math. I worked
with the classroom teacher and the English Language Specialist to educate
our language learners, one of whom was a recent immigrant from China and
only spoke Cantonese. I planned differentiated lessons to reach all learners in
an appropriate way, using technology, on-the-spot and planned
modifications, small group or partner work, and varied levels of work
depending on student needs. I participate in all teacher trainings, including
the Lucy Caulkins Units of Study in Reading and Writing for fourth grade,
FOSS Science Training, the First 100 Days plan of action for the school, SLO
goal setting for fourth grade teachers, PLC meetings, all staff meetings and
team meetings to develop unit goals, lesson goals, monitor student progress,
adjust teaching strategies, and reflect on student achievement. I created,
planned, and implemented a four-week unit on Colorado History, Symbols
and Regions using small-group, inquiry-based learning and technology
resulting in two student-created projects in Google Slides.

CHERRY CREEK SCHOOL DISTRICT

1/2014-present Substitute Teacher
As a substitute teacher for the Cherry Creek School District I take positions in
kindergarten-fifth grade classrooms, specials classes such as STEM and art,
and learning disabled classrooms. I execute the duties of the teacher in
his/her absence, including classroom management, lesson planning,
instructional strategies, and academic and behavioral interventions. I
observe in lunch rooms and on playgrounds and carry out emergency drills. I
have also served as an office substitute and nurse substitute at a year-round
elementary school, interacting with parents, students, staff and community
members. I have experience with Power School as a substitute teacher, office
substitute and health technician.
PINE RIDGE ELEMENTARY
8/2013-3/2014 Health Technician
As the health technician, I worked with the school nurse to perform day-to-
day operations in the school clinic. I provided first aid, sick care, vision and
hearing screenings, anaphylaxis and allergy care, diabetic and feeding tube
care, and upkeep of online records and files for students. I interacted daily
with staff, students and parents regarding physical, mental and emotional
health of students at the school. I used Power School daily to document office
visits, exams and screenings, immunizations, and confidential student health
information. I have CPR, First Aid, Medication Dispensation, and Diabetes
training through Cherry Creek School District.
COYOTE HILLS ELEMENTARY
8/2011-6/2013 Para-educator
As a para-educator, I worked to assist teachers in all areas to serve student
needs in the building. I worked with kindergarten teachers in the classroom
on reading, writing, language arts and math centers, conducting assessments
including beginning, middle and end of year kindergarten assessments. I
assessed incoming kindergarteners with classroom teachers and welcomed
their families to the school. I conducted interventions in small groups and
one-on-one per classroom teacher directions, including using the FAST
phonics program at Coyote Hills. I read with students one-on-one daily,
assessing their reading performance and sight-word progression, reporting
findings to the classroom teacher. I was responsible for observing students in
the lunch room and on the playground, keeping them safe and accounted for.
I worked with 5th grade teachers grading papers and pulling language arts
groups for tests and assessments. I pulled three 4th and 5th grade boys for
individualized writing time per special education IEPs. I worked with ILC
students in morning meeting and as needed during the day. I also worked in
the Special Education office processing IEP paperwork, including speaking
with parents regarding notice of meeting for IEP annual or initial meetings
and processing the notice for staff and parents.
