COUNTING DOWN TO DECEMBER 17, 2003

Quick - without looking it up - what's significant about

December 17, 2003? If your immediate answer isn't that it's the
100th anniversary of powered flight as first demonstrated by the
Wright Brothers, hopefully that will change. Just check out:

The US Centennial of Flight Commission has launched this Web site

to get the word out on the history and future of powered flight
and keep track of events planned to celebrate the upcoming
anniversary. The site also features a section dedicated to
educational activities and programs related to the past, present
and future of flight.

NEXT BRIEFINGS SET FOR EXPEDITION ONE MISSION

Fresh off the successful mission of Space Shuttle Endeavour

to deliver the large solar arrays to the International Space
Station, status briefings will be held on Dec. 15 and Dec. 21 to
discuss the progress of the ongoing Expedition One mission.

With Commander Bill Shepherd, Pilot Yuri Gidzenko and Flight

Engineer Sergei Krikalev well into their second month aboard the
expanding complex, Lead Flight Director Jeff Hanley will provide
briefings on their activities and upcoming events on Friday, Dec.
15, at 4 p.m. EST and again on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 4 p.m. at
NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX.

The briefings will be broadcast on NASA Television with question-

and-answer capability available at all NASA centers.
