ABSTRACT

Education in Islam is a series of processes of human empowerment towards taklif


(maturity), both intellectually, mentally and morally, to carry out the function of humanity as a
servant before his Khaliq, Thus, the main function of education is prepiapakn learners (next
generation ) with the skills and skills required to have the ability and readiness to plunge into
society (environment), as the ultimate goal of education. The ultimate goal of education in Islam,
as the process of self-formation of learners to match the nature of its existence. Indonesia is a
predominantly Muslim country. But Indonesia is not an Islamic country, which only uses Islamic
law and law. Indonesia is a country that has diverse cultures, customs, beliefs and religions.
Indonesia has a religion of Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism and various
beliefs that are always preserved under the aegis of Pancasila. Such diversity is not simply
created, without the comprehensive maximum effort of all elements of society supported by
various government policies. Plural life is a sunnatullah as well as a reality that exists in human
life, this diversity is a sensitive issue for some groups who are less aware that it is a fact, so that
emerging trends in the implementation of the implementation of education still ignore the
condition. So a concept of religious pluralism that becomes the mindset or idea of Abdurrahman
Wahid is very urgent and can be a solution in solving the problems of society especially in the
field of Islamic education, because the concept of pluralism education is oriented to the reality of
the problems faced by the nation and humanity as a whole pluralism.
The research method used is the method of content analysis (Conten Analysis), with data
collection techniques through library research (library research).
The results concluded that, firstly; the concept of Abdurrahman Wahid's interfaith
pluralism includes; Islamic indigenization, democratic values, human rights, humanist principles,
justice and egalitarian principles. Second; Abdurahman's notion of Pluralism seen from an
Islamic education to be inclusive, humanist, egalitarian, democratic and moral education.
