Experience Summary

Dayo Osholowu is the founder of the Ajala Travel Company, an avid traveler and travel journalist with a
track record of working to position the Ajala brand at the forefront of the African Tourism industry in his
new role as Chief Executive Officer of the Ajala Travel Company. In 2010 he was selected as panelist
with other African Tourism industry experts at the 2010 Africa Investor (Ai) Tourism Summit. In 2009 he
was also invited to participate at the United Nations World Tourism (UNWTO) Think Tank hosted by Mr.
Taleb Rifai UNWTO Secretary-General as part of the 2009 World Tourism Day Celebrations. Since 2009
he also has lead a strategic partnership between the Ajala Travel Company and the Zimbabwe Tourism
Authority to promote Zimbabwe as a tourism destination in Nigeria and Ghana.
Before founding the Ajala Travel Company, Dayo has held several executive leadership positions in

Africa including roles with the FIFA 2010 South Africa World Cup Medical Management Team and the

Special Olympics International Healthy Athletes Program in Africa.
After graduation from medical school he joined the Nigerian Basketball Professional League and served
as a Medical Officer. In 2008 he was appointed Chief Medical Officer of the Federation of International
Basketball (FIBA Africa) African Club Championships in Lagos. Following this he also served as a Chief
Medical Officer of the Nigerian National Team to the 2009 African Hockey Cup of Nations and with
Nigerian Lagos Islander 1st Division Professional Basketball Team during the 2008/2009 Season. He has
also served as the Medical Officer of the 2009 International Tennis Federation ITF F2 Futures Lagos
Governors Cup, Medical Officer African Hockey Cup of Nations Accra Ghana and 2008 African Cup of
Nations Accra Ghana. As well as the Medical Officer at the 2008 and 2009 Lagos International Half
Marathons and Lagos Triathlon.
In October 2009 he was appointed by the Board of Special Olympics Nigeria as a Director of the Special
Olympics Healthy Athletes Program in Nigeria. In June 2010 he was appointed a Member of the Medical

Team of Africa’s first World Cup by the FIFA South Africa 2010 World Cup Organizing Committee
evidence of his exceptional career serving as a leader in the field of Sports Medicine in Africa.
Dr Osholowu was honored in 2009 with the Nigerian Young Professional award and was again nominated
for this recognition in 2010. In 2010 he was formally recognized by the President of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria Jonathan Goodluck, Vice President of the World Bank for Africa Obiangeli Ezekweseli and
Director of the Lagos Business School Prof Pat Utomi for his exceptional professional career. Dayo has
taken a break from his medical career to realize the potentials of the ajala brand in the travel and tourism
industry in Africa.
Dayo Osholowu is a columnist for Business Day Nigeria’s most influential business paper and is a Visiting
Lecturer at the College of Medicine University of Lagos. In 2006 he was appointed a Partner with Iheoo: a
healthcare industry professional services partnership established by Dr. Gbenga Adetimehin in Lagos
Nigeria drawn from his background in Healthcare economics, Health systems planning, Health Policy,
Health management and Healthcare marketing communications. Dr Osholowu earned a Bachelors of
Medicine and Surgery from the College of Medicine Idi-Araba Lagos Nigeria and completed the Health
Management and Planning Course at the same institution in 2006. He is a citizen of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria.

Current Role Description

As the Chief Executive of the Ajala Travel Company, Dayo’s job is to lead the vision of the Ajala Travel
Company and make it plain to Investors, Trade partners and the employees of the Ajala Travel Company.
He is responsible for developing a strategic plan to advance the companies mission and objectives and to
promote revenue, profitability and growth as an organization. He is also responsible for overseeing the
management and functioning of the 3 Ajala businesses Unit’s: Tour operations, Media and Intellectual
property. He oversees the company operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service and cost
effective management of resources. He also monitors the performance of all team members while
ensuring they have all the tools and resources they need to build ajala into the most useful brand helping
Africans travel all over Africa and the world.

Primary Responsibility

1. Development of a strategic plan to advance the company’s mission and objectives and promote
revenue, profitability, and growth as an organization.
2. Oversee company operations to insure production efficiency, quality, service and cost effective
management of resources.
3. Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the
company.
4. Identify acquisition and merger opportunities and direct implementation activities.
5. Approve company operational procedures, policies, and standards.
6. Review activity reports and financial to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and
revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
7. Evaluate performance of executives for compliance with establishing policies and objectives of
the company and contributions in attaining objectives.
8. Promote the company through written articles and personal appearances at conferences and on
radio and TV.
9. Represent the company at legislative sessions, committee meetings and at formal functions.
10. Promote the company to local, regional, national and international constituencies.
11. Build a fundraising network using personal contacts, direct mail, special events and foundation
support.
12. Present a company report at Annual Stockholder and Board of Director meetings.
13. Direct company planning and policy making committees.
14. Oversee foreign operations to include evaluating operating and financial performance.

In his role as Director of the Special Olympics International Healthy
Athletes Program in Nigeria, he developed a plan, in conjunction with
the Special Olympics Africa Healthy Athlete Program Coordinator, to
implement and expand the Healthy Athletes program in the 36 States
of Nigeria. He coordinated the Healthy Athlete programs at State and
Leadership management local levels and worked Special Olympics Nigeria staff to identify
sponsors and donors for the program. Duties involved administrative,
personnel and financial management of medical services including
liaising with the Special Olympics Nigeria Board coordinate the
implementation, development and delivery of medical services and
facilities for athletes.

Cup Medical Management Team and 2008 African Football Cup of

Nations Medical Team, duties included onsite medical coverage and
Strategic Management coordination of emergency medical services at event. Present on site
to render emergency care to a stricken participants, prompt medical
evaluation of the situation, when warranted. Coordinating access to
remote medical facilities, including communication and transportation
between pitch side and the medical facility for prompt medical services,
when warranted.
In April 2007 he joined Nigerian Health Industry Advisory Professional
Services partnership: Iheoo as a Director. Projects he has lead include
market research, business model design and brand design for primary
health care provider in Victoria Island Lagos (for Wilmer Clinics);
proposals for health policy design for a donor funded agricultural
Business Management project in Benin Republic; research on Social Health Insurance in
Accra Ghana, primary health care business models, work site clinic
business models, social health insurance business models and
occupational health schemes. Dayo’s practice was focused on in
Healthcare economics, Health systems planning, Health Policy, Health
management and Healthcare marketing communications. He is also a
Columnist for the Health industry for BuisnessDay Nigeria
As a Medical Officer of the 2008 Lagos International Half Marathon he
performed an audit of morbidity, mortality and medical services during
event, in a bid to generate data to guide planning of future events.
Results of which were presented at the Presented at the Annual
Performance Management Scientific Conference of the West African College of Physicians 2008.
He also lead the review of the policies, protocols and standard
operating procedures for provision of essential medical services at the
Ghana 2008 MTN African Football Cup of Nations and was invited to
present his findings at the 3rd International
FIFA Football Medicine Conference, Sun City South Africa.
