PARKER'S ENGRAVED FLASHLIGHT 1974

This black KEL-LITE Flashlight, measuring 19 3/4” in length was given to Colonel Tom Parker as a gift in 1974. The inscription near
the head of the flashlight reads as follows: "TO THE COLONEL WITH RESPECT FROM THE CHIEF JAN. 74”. Mr. Bonja acquired this
piece from the Colonel as one of his impromptu silent auctions which he held in his office at MGM Studios in Culver City ,
California . The Colonel would often receive gifts from various sources over his career and would hold an auction once or twice a
year to make room for future gifts.

The usual partsipants in the auction were Tom Diskin, George Parkhill, Jim O'Brien and Ed Bonja. Items included in these auctions
would range from television sets and radios to bathroom scales- and, of course, this flashlight. On this particular occasion, Mr.
Bonja put in his written bid of $.25 for this item, thinking that he would have no need for such a large flashlight. When all bids had
been turned in, the Colonel announced that this item would go to the lowest bidder, and Mr. Bonja's bid of $.25 was just that. It
has been in his possession since that auction in 1975 until I purchased this piece. It is displayed in Plexiglas with descriptive
plaque.

terrific video a little dark

nice thread ver

W
my eyes.

turba
Very cool footage and completely new to my eyes! It was nice to just have photos of
Elvis wearing such odd piece of wardrobe (the turban) and now even footage
surfaces... boggles the mind to think what could still be hidden...

Some have dated this occasion as being from

September 1972, but I personally doubt it...
watching the thick gold necklace and the rings
EP wears in the pictures I'd put it around April
1973... but if anyone disagrees, feel free to
correct.
It is thought the footage/photos are from Sept 73 due
to the jewellery Elvis is wearing however Dave Hebler
has confused the matter by stating 72 and 73 in
different interviews. I have read two stories concerning
the turban 1,Elvis was having a bad hair day and knowing
people would want to meet him rather than be seen with
bad hair he donned the turban.

1. 2.
one of the children seen in the film (Dave
Hebler's i believe) was ill and Elvis

believed he had
healing powers and wore the
turban to convince the child he could make
her better,  which he duly did.

I can also vaguely remember a story

that the children got over excited while
Elvis was sat down and nearly knocked
the turban off his head at which point
Elvis became mad.
I have often seen the photos of the turban but this footage is new and fantastic, great to see new
footage of Elvis can still be found today.
also heard he used to dress up as a sheik (sp?)
when in vegas so he could roam around
undetectedElvis maybe that's part of one of his
costumes??

This picture is listed late 1973... but looks the same coat Elvi
way)
on looking closer, part of the Fur that goes over the shoulder
front...

 “LIVE A LITTLE, LOVE A

DIRECTOR NORMAN
TAUROG'S PERSONAL
SCRIPT

This is Mr. Norman Taurog's personal shooting script for

the 1968 MGM film “Live A Little, Love A Little” staring
Elvis Presley as Greg Nolan, a photographer working two
jobs and fending off a beautiful woman. This script is
leather bound with Mr. Taurog's name embossed on the
front cover in gold. It also includes all revisions made
during the shooting of the film plus personal notations in
pencil (which includes two pencils that were used by Mr.
Taurog to make these changes, found in the pen holder
on the inside cover). What is of interest is that the film
was originally titled “Kiss My Firm But Pliant Lips”. The
original title has been replaced by the released title on the
first two pages which has a selection of songs that were
approved for the film. The remainder of the script has the
previous title, except on the actual cover of the script. The
second page has other songs considered for the four
movie spots in the film. Spot #1(Over Opening Title):
“Wonderful World”; “Got No Time”; "The World's in
Focus”: Spot #2 (Dream Sequence): “Happy Go Lucky
Guy”: Music Spot #3 (Party Scene): “A Little Less
Conversation”; “Got No Time”; Music Spot #4 (Greg's
House): “Almost in Love”; “Try Love”; “Tell You What I'M
Going To”. Plus a complete list of the staff, cast addresses
and phone numbers including Elvis'. Mr. Taurog directed
many popular films including: “The Adventures of Tom
Sawyer”; “Boy's Town”; “Young Tom Edison” and many of
the Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis films in the 1950's. He
directed the following Elvis movies: “G. I. Blues”; “Blue
Hawaii ”; “Girls! Girls! Girls!”; “It Happened at The
World's Fair”; “Tickle Me”; “Spinout”; “Double Trouble”;
“Speedway” and “Live A Little, Love A Little”.
