 MY VILLAGE - MY IDEA

In the pretext of my essay, let me introduce you to my village. The name of my village
is Habibhanga under Kalaigaon revenue circle, in the district of Udalguri, Assam.
My village is an underdeveloped village with very minimal amount of
development .So according to me for my village to be developed or to be a model
village the following parameters of development has to be undergone:

1. Awareness Of Government Initiative: Though both the Central and State

government has initiated various development schemes for the poor and
marginalized people in the country, many village people don't know about the
schemes or the benefit of the scheme. The villagers who are mostly poor and
uneducated don't get the benefit of such schemes.In my village also my people
don't know about those government beneficial schemes meant for them. If in my
village, systematic awareness camps are organized at regular intervals then the
people will come to know about the schemes and they will know how to avail it
and be a part of the development agenda.

2. Transportation Facilities: Transportation facilities is very important for my

region to develop. The only mode of transportation to my village is by road. The

condition of the road to my village is very pathetic and that too not well connected.
Due to this bad road connectivity the villagers face lots of problems such as the
student face problems in going to schools and colleges, transportation of the farm
produced goods to the market, taking the patients to the hospitals etc. Due to bad
road conditions no public transportation service is available to my village. So if
the road condition along with transportation facilities increases then it will pave a
way for the villagers towards development.
3. Education: The education scenario of my village is not suitable, there is only a

primary school in my village .The students have to travel a long distance to go to

the nearest High School. As I have mentioned earlier that the road condition to my
village is not good and there is no public transportation facility, so the students
have to walk or to ride their bicycles to the High School. I should mention here
that Kalaigaon Revenue Circle which has a very big demographic area has no
Degree College. The student have to travel around 30 kilometers to go to the
nearest college i.e. Mangaldai college for their higher studies so there should be a
degree college in Greater kalaigaon area.

4. Health Service: The health services in my village is not so good .There is no

public health center in my village .The villagers has to go to Kalaigaon PHC for
any health related issues, which itself faces a lots of problem. There is insufficient
nos. of doctors and other paramedical staffs at Kalaigaon PHC. If any patient is in
serious condition then he or she is referred to Mangaldai Civil Hospital which is
30 km far from my village. So I think more medical facilities should be made
available to the kalaigaon PHC (PUBLIC HEALTH CARE CENTERS) for health
benefits of the people.

5. Advanced Farming Techniques: Most of the people in my village are

farmers. The farmers of my villages do there cultivation in traditional methods

which gives them low productivity. I have read that new technology and new
types of cultivation can give more productivity which will result in economic
development of the people in my village. So there should be government initiative
to encourage and teach the technical process of new cultivation to the farmers.

6. Awareness 0n Cleanliness: The people of my village should be more aware

on cleanliness and hygiene which will keep the villagers stay clean and make
people healthy. Swach Bharat Abhiyan is a govt. of India initiative and this
should be implemented in each of every village.
7. Electricity and Water Supply: There should be uninterrupted power supply

to my village. This will help in studies of the students, water supply in farming
field, run small industries, street light facility etc. There should be drinking water
facility in my village. As all of know that many diseases caused due to the dinking
of unpurified water.

8. Financial Establishments: There is no financial establishment in and around

my village. The people are mostly deprived of the benefit of Financial institutions.
So there should be a bank branch in my village so that the village people can
easily assess the banking services and keep their savings in the bank. The farmers
also require money during the farming season, so they lend money from the local
money lenders which charge them more interest rate and some unethical practices.
If there will be a bank branch in my village then the villagers both men and
women can avail the banking facilities, which will make their life more financially
strong.

9. Youth Centers: I feel the need of such a youth center in my village.

Such a youth center will provide Sports facility to the youth of the

village and provide an opportunity of talent hunt to the village youth.

Such a youth center will also provide cultural activity learning

platform to the youth of the village. Such youth center will provide

career guidance to the students from their seniors relating to higher

studies and jobs. Such a youth center can also provide the youth of the

village some moral lessons and keep them away from bad habits and

alcoholism.
