Standards for Students

6d. Students publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for their intended
audiences.

This could be used when students are giving presentations. Instead of typical PowerPoint presentations,
students could create new mediums using online tools or applications. Understanding how to use these
tools to customize the message for the specific audience must be discussed in depth in class.

Standards for Educators

Facilitator 6a. Foster a culture where students take ownership of their learning goals and outcomes in
both independent and group settings.

Students must understand that each lesson has a purpose and an ultimate learning goal. Teachers must
create groups that are differentiated to meet the needs of the students in class.

Advocacy Toolkit

Digital Learning Success Story Template

I liked that this template provided students with an opportunity to participate in a digital story telling
activity. Students could address the setting, key characters, plot, and outcome of their story. This
template could then be used to build a digital story using a variety of online tools. A specific lesson my
students could use this creative template would be to share the story of the check writing process.
Students could create a storyline about a check that goes through the right or wrong process.

U.S. Congress Website Scavenger Hunt

This scavenger hunt could allow students in FBLA do some research before choosing which congress
person to send a letter to about FBLA. Each student must write a letter to a congressman regarding the
activities we are participating in during the school year. This activity allows students to choose a
congressman based on likes or dislikes found in the web quest. This would also be a great activity to use
in an American Government classroom.

Elevator Pitch

I have a guest speaker who comes to my classroom to discuss elevator pitches as they can be used to
talk to employers in less than five minutes. In addition to this idea, I liked the ISTE idea of explaining how
the student or teacher is using digital learning in the classroom. The need for continued support is
necessary for further support and research on using technology in the classroom.

Student Technology Showcase Planning Tips

As our county has two College and Career Academies, this would be a great showcase for students to
complete as they are learning about multiple technologies throughout their coursework. The breakdown
of the timeline and necessary steps to complete a showcase are very helpful. This could also be used to
showcase students created projects from using technology in the classroom.
