PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATATION OF DATA

This chapter presents the data gathered and the themalized results of existential-

phenomenological interviews together with the taking a picture of respondents when

interviewing.

Data Reduction is part of analysis wherein the researchers decision which data

chunks and which to pull out , which evolving story to tell- are all analytic choices. It is a

form of analysis that sharpens, sort, focuses, discard, and organizes data in such a way

that final conclusions can be drawn and verified (Namey, et al.2011).

Data reduction techniques published so far for the CoRoT N2 data product were targeted

primarily on the detection of extrasolar planets. Since the whole dataset has been released,

specific algorithms are required to process the lightcurves from CoRoT correctly. Though only

unflaggeddatapoints must be chosen for scientific processing, some flags might be reconsidered.

The reduction of data along with improving the signal-to-noise ratio can be achieved by applying

a one dimensional drizzle algorithm. Gaps can be filled by linear interpolated data without

harming the frequency spectrum. Magnitudes derived from the CoRoT color channels might be

used to derive additional information about the targets. Depending on the needs, various filters in

the frequency domain remove either the red noise background or high frequency noise. The

autocorrelation function or the least squares periodogram are appropriate methods to identify

periodic signals. The methods described here are not strictly limited to CoRoT data but may also

be applied on Kepler data or the upcoming Plato mission (JoergWeingrill, 2015).

Data reduction techniques can be applied to obtain a reduced representation of the data

set that is much smaller in volume, yet closely maintains the integrity of the original data. That is,

mining on the reduced data set should be more efficient yet produce the same (or almost the

same) analytical results. In this section, we first present an overview of data reduction strategies,

followed by a closer look at individual techniques (MichelineKamber&Jiawei Han, 2011).

The data reduction of the study is presented through listing the significant statements that

were extracted from the verbatim transcriptions of the participants responses. All quotes were

carefully selected to represent equally the experiences of all co-researches. These elements were

read, verified, and analyzed for serveral times by the researcher, and to answer the central

questions with probing questions in the research protocol. From the tabulated word-for-word

transcriptions, the researcher presents the following data.

Table 1

Thematic Analysis is a method for identitying, analyzing, and reporting patterns

(themes) within data. It minimally organizes and describes the data set in rich detail

(Braun & Clarke, 2012).

In as much as the highlights of significant statements from the ideas of the

participants were clearly stated, the next focus of the researcher is theme clustering.

Considering the lived expreriences of the students on the utilization of

differentiated intruction in the Aplaya National High School, the above-mentioned

relevant statements were then clustered into emergent themes based on their general ideas

of the research problem. Analyzing intensevely the significant statements, the researcher

classtified 3 theme clusters which are the pressented in Table 3.

Thematic Analysis

Braun & Clarke (2013) Thematic Analysis is a method for identifying, analyzing and

reporting patterns(themes) within data. It minimally organizes and describes the data set

in rich detail.

Martyn (2014) Thematic analysis is historically a conventional practice in qualitative

research which involves searching through data to identify any recurrent patterns. A

theme is a cluster of linked categories conveying similar meanings and usually emerge

through the inductive analytic process which characterise the qualitative paradigm. The
APLAYA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

RESEARCH MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

exploratory power of this popular technique can be enhanced by the analyst lacking

previous knowledge of the research topic as they are not guided by any preconceptions.

Thus, the analyst does not have to be an expert in the research topic. However, in order to

begin analysis a researcher must have at least some conceptual understanding to guide the

insightprocesses.

Farooq (2015) Thematic analysis is the most common form of analysis in qualitative

research. It emphasizes pinpointing, examining, and recording patterns (themes) within

data.Themes are patterns across data sets that are important to the description of a

phenomenon and are associated to a specific research question. The themes become the

categories for analysis .

Description of Lived Experience of Senior High School Students in Absenteeism; its

implication to the academic performance ICT

Theme 1: Tardiness. The Students must understand the importance of punctuality and

how it connects to their future working lives, since the school is also mandated to produce

good citizens and workers. Tardy students miss important instruction and get lower grades

or fail subjects. They also disrupt the delivery of instruction as they straggle into class

late during the first 5 -10 minutes or more of each class. They can also be engaged in

misconduct during the unsupervised time before they reach their classes. Those lost

minutes may add up to hours of lost teaching time by the end of the term. Academic

performance in the ICT field are in low demand and the industry is expected to grow.

As stated by one of the participants:

APLAYA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Jerrycel:

I feel that this rule causes people to chose to skip school and have a day off,

instead of showing up a minute late and getting a detention. I agree with you fully!

Jerrycel said Your articles are great. Keep up the great work!!

Another participant said,

Katherine:

Kung ating titignan ang pagkakahuli sa klase ay isang napakalaking

kaso bagamat bababa ang iyong grado at maraming sanhi ang maidudulot nito

Many studies have tardiness According to school policy, tardy students may be warned the

first two times they arrive late. After that they may be given detentions and parents can

be consulted. They can also be sent to the principals office if the problem

persists. Teachers can help to solve the problem by starting all classes punctually and

giving short quizzes at the start of the lesson. The cumulative marks for these quizzes will

count for a percentage of the total class assessment. This would encourage more students

to be punctual. Recognizing and rewarding students for punctuality would also be useful.

Tardy teachers open the door to many problems at school whether they arrive late

for the start of school or for classes during the school day. They reduce the length of class

periods by their lateness and leave students unsupervised for substantial periods of

time. These students are then free to misbehave and disturb nearby classes. Fights may

break out in unsupervised classes. These teachers may also take too long to transition

from one class to another and waste more precious teaching time. Some of their students

are late because they know the teacher will also be late. A few of them compound the

problems by ending classes before the scheduled time or by allowing students to leave

during the last few minutes of the lesson.

Theme 2: Enhancing Self esteem. The Strong self-esteem extends beyond the ability to
take a joke or live down an unfortunate event. When a student has confidence, they can
perform better academically and find healthy and fulfilling social relationships. The exercises
in this lesson are intended to give your high schoolers the tools to develop and maintain an
appropriate amount of self-esteem throughout their academic lives and beyond.

As stated by one of the participant

Jerrycel:

For me One of the best ways to improve your self image is to get honest and

accurate feedback from people who know and value you!

Another participant says,

Mary mae:

Enhacing of Student confidence is an important factor in educational success. As more

students are facing bullying and harassment, confidence in school can suffer and when this

occurs, grades often suffer. Building confidence in students is one of the most important

steps educators and parents can take to ensure an atmosphere for learning. If a child is

suffering from bullying, immediate steps must be taken to correct the situation and rebuild

student self confidence. When a child loses student self esteem, they may lose motivation in

learning. By building confidence in students, parent and educators can safeguard the most

important ingredient to success: motivation.

Student confidence is vital to his or her success. The amount of student self confidence

a child possess will affect every aspect of his or her educational goals. If a child loses

confidence in school, his or her grades will ultimately be affected. When student self

confidence suffers, a child may give up on his or her hopes, dreams, and plans. They may

feel they are unworthy of obtaining their goals or think it is impossible to achieve them.

Building confidence in students can help prevent student dropout rates and help them

achieve their dreams and goals by staying in school and going to college. There is no

question that the relationship between student confidence and educational success is tightly

intertwined. Confidence in school is one of the most important areas, outside of academics,

where educators and parents can help improve performance. (Dr. Morris Rosenberg

ESSENCE

The essence of this study is to know the Implications in Academic Performance as

Selected of Grade 11 Aplaya Senior High School students.

In this study, the researchers will know the different effects, advantages and

disadvantages, and implication of ICT in their lives until to their future. The importance

of this study is the incoming ICT students will be aware about the implications of

Academic Performance. The researchers also know the different insights/ feedback of

selected Grade 11 students of Aplaya Senior High School. One respondents said that the

impact of absenteeism on students' academic achievement. The long term effect of

attendance is one of the factors that determines a student's future success in college or in

the work place.

This study has really an eye to the researchers because selected as a academic

performance has a good impact in life and in the future. Conducting this study will know

the implications of academic performance in Senior High school.

REFLECTION

One of the group of Grade 12 ICT conducted a research study about the Students

Absenteeism its implication to the Academic Performance of Senior High School: the

case of Aplaya Senior High School. Being one of the schools that offer an ICT course, it

is a great privilege for the researchers to conduct a study about the implication of

Academic Performance as the Selected of this Cases. It is generally believed that

Absenteeism can effect to our Study, it will Low the learners skills about the Implication

Students Performance and they might not develop their creativity, to problem-solving

abilities, informational reasoning skills, and communication skills.

Implication of Student Absenteeism will help the students to enhance their skills,

knowledge and competencies as mentioned by some participant said that they choose to

help them because this is the Problem that they like and they want to be Help The

Students, learners believe that Absenteeism make a way to recognise Learning. Also said

that theres a possibility that through can help to improve and develop the economy.

As for Senior High School case, it is good to know that there is a impact in the

students for Implication of Academic Performance Senior High School. They are

positively that choosing this problem is not a way to give up because they believed that it

has a good to Learn that they will get someday for their future can make someones life

better because choosing this Problem has many big Accomplishment. It can help to

progress in life. It easy to help our environment for solve this problem.
