function of Women Wing of CMA and it was an
appropriate start of the wing.
Present on the occasion were many serving and
retired army and Air-force officers, besides the
proud parents of the Martyr Ft.Lt. Maheesh Trikha,
Mrs. Swadesh Trikha and Col. J.R.Trikha.

Mr. S.K.Chopra, a legend of Tourism Industry
delivered a talk on “Punjab Tourism Management
and Importance of Chandigarh as Tourism Junction
for the Northern States, during executive meeting of
CMA held on 24th July 2010 at Hotel Parkview,
Sector 24, Chandigarh”. He said that large number of
people from Punjab had gone abroad in search of
new avenues of income, after the land holdings of the
farming community shrunk due to divisions amongst
siblings. Most of them were genuine immigrants to
foreign countries and acquired the status of NRI and
made their mark in the respective countries of their
settlement. These NRI come to India as tourists and
visit various places of their roots in Punjab.
He regretted that NRI are not treated with care by the
Custom departments at the Airports in India and
many of them are cheated by persons conducting

As a part of CMA skills development program, an
interactive workshop on 'Understanding the basics
of Supply Chain Management, with references to

Hotel Industry' held on Saturday, the 31 July for the
benefit of students/faculty of B-Schools of the Tricity.
The workshop was steered by Mr. J.N.Vohra, former
Sr. Vice President (Projects), Pearl Global Limited,
N.Delhi.

Under such circumstances it is imperative to
maintain operational efficiencies and to avoid
excess inventory. Yet, said Mr. Vohra that inventory
is a buffer against uncertainty and uncertainty is
difficult to forecast.
Since inventory carrying costs can contribute
significantly to total costs, there is a need to carry just

former Senior Journalist, now Regional Head Bharti
Wal-Mart, conducted the workshop.
Taking route to personal experiences as a journalist,
Poonam Batth covered wide range of beats from
crime to judiciary, health, politics, business, travel
and tourism industry. She enumerated how she
covered high profile cases for Chandigarh Newsline.
She exhorted the students to be bold, daring and
focused and display personal integrity of highest
order while discharging their duties as journalist.
While talking about her experience in the retail
industry, she said that retail giants such as Wal-Mart,

He said that materials are ordered taking into
consideration minimum level of stocks to be
maintained and the lead time for the materials to
arrive at the stores of the hotel. The mantra fore
ordering is- Reorder Point = Lead Time Demand +
Safety Stock, and Order Qty = Min Stock Level -Qty
