Young Civic

Leaders
Paid 2010-2011 Internship
MassVOTE is a non-partisan education organization that works to
eliminate barriers and encourage voting, especially among communities of
color, language minorities, low income communities, youth, new American
citizens, and the disabled. Young Civic Leaders help MassVOTE work for
justice.

The Young Civic Leaders (YCL) is a program that gives a group of

diverse high-school students the opportunity to convene with other youth
from across Massachusetts to learn about democracy and leadership while
gaining professional skills.

Youth are expected to have at least a C+ average and to work 10-12

hours per week throughout the school year. YCL are paid $9.00 per hour for
their work in trainings, workshops, Get-Out-the-Vote campaigns, and various
other projects. In return, the youth receive mentoring and support from the
professional staff at MassVOTE. The YCL Program is looking specifically
for sophomore and juniors.
