LESSON PLAN FOR

PS 2103: ELECTRICAL TRANSIENTS IN POWER SYSTEMS

ELECTIVE FOR M.E II SEMESTER POWER SYSTEMS ONS

INSTRUCTOR: R. RAMANUJAM, VISITING PROFESSOR

PURPOSE
To expose the student to various types of transients that occur in a practical power system and
the related computational aspects.

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES
1. To gain understanding of modeling and solution methods for power system transients.

2. To build familiarity with various aspects of EMTP, the state-of-the-art industry-standard

software for practical computation of power system transients.
