Decibelz is the flagship event of Xpressions where the biggest of bands battle it out for the coveted
title. A celebration of the spirit of rock, this competition opens the floor for bands from all over
the country to enthrall audiences with some hard-core rock. Witness country's top semi-
professional rock bands perform their best. Feel the euphoria and let yourself loose to the rhythm
of the music!
Registrations/Prelims:
Bands must submit a Youtube link of any of their performance video by 4th November
Demo tracks must be submitted to xstage@ximb.ac.in in MP3 or MP4 format.
Demo tapes may include both covered and/or original tracks
Based on the performance, a total of 5 bands will be selected to perform in the Finals.
Theme: The central theme of the performance is To get the Loudest Cheer from the
crowd
It is a rock band performance without any creative restriction. We expect a mixture of cover
songs and original compositions which will get the maximum crowd engagement (you get
brownie points for that).
Finals:
Every band will get 20 minutes time to perform (amps on to amps off)
For every minute exceeding the 20 minute limit, the band will be penalized 5 points
from their total score.
The bands will have to play at least two songs with at least one Original
composition.

Bands will be required to get their own guitars, leads and distortion pads, etc. Only a
standard drum set kit will be provided. They can bring their own cymbals (extra) and
pedals if they need them.
Any damage done to any property belonging to the college shall be borne by the band
and its members.
All competing bands are strongly encouraged to promote spreading the word
regarding the Battle of the Bands event and related festivities as crowd interaction and
response will be part of the judging criteria.
MIDI should not be used for playing any pre-recorded Drum, Bass or Guitar
parts/tracks. Guitarists who prefer their own set of guitar cable are advised to bring it
along with them.
Registration fee: There is no registration charge for any band or performer
Each competing band will receive complimentary tickets in order to gain awareness
and build their fan-base for the show.
Decisions taken by the Judges will be final.
In case of any conflicts, all decisions lie in the hands of the college.

from within you.
Done your best attire, put on your high heels and hit the ramp with your tinted shades. Thats

Registration:
Teams:
Teams are limited to one from each college with a maximum size of 15 members.
Including backstage and onstage participants (Models, designers, make-up artists etc).
Food and accommodation will be provided to the members of the outstation teams only.
Rounds:
Theme- Yin and Yang. Judging will be based on how well the extremes complement
each other. (E.g.; Fire and water, Light and dark)
Guidelines:
In case of more than one entry from a college, there will be an online elimination round
It is imperative that all team members carry their college ID cards and must present them
during the time of registration at the campus
No props and costumes will be provided by us. Teams have to bring their own costumes and
props.
(In case the second round is sponsored by a partner, Clothes will be provided)
Two copies of soundtracks to be submitted in standard audio format- .mp3 to the organizers
4 hour before the event commences. (CDs only, no laptops).
Vulgarity of any kind would lead to disqualification of the team from the event. Hence, if the
team feels that any stunt of costume design can be deemed as vulgar, it is advised to consult
the organizers before performing it directly on stage.
Time limit for every team would be 15 minutes. This time also includes compering time if
the teams are planning to bring their own comperes.

Registration:
The team size should be a minimum of 5 members and maximum of 12 excluding team
assistance.
All teams must register on http://www.ximbxpressions.com/. All details about
the registration are available on the website.
All the teams are to submit a dance video of minimum 3 minutes to xstage@ximb.ac.in,
at the time of registration based on which they will be selected for the finals.
Last Date of Registration: 1st November, 2017.
o Last Date for submission of dance videos: 4th November, 2017.
Out of all the registered teams 8 teams will be selected for the final round to be held at
XIMB Auditorium

Event Format
Goonj shall consist of 2 Rounds: Prelims and Finals. In the prelims, all registered participants
shall be auditioned for the finals. Shortlisted participants in the prelims will compete in the
Finals. There will be 2 separate categories in the competition:
DesiXtravaganza: Participants can sing any Bollywood or Album song.
Western: Participants can sing any English or Pop song.

Prelims
Prelims-on campus(XIMB/XUB)
o Each participant will be required to sing ONLY ONE song for 3 minutes.
o The participant has an option of using an instrument to complement his/her song.
He/she can himself/herself play the instrument while singing (keyboard, guitar
etc.)
Note: Instrument is not compulsory here.
o There will be a clear demarcation between the vocalists participating for
DesiXtravaganza and Western.
o No Karaoke is allowed
o Again as in the prelims, originality will be taken into account while scores are given
out. So original compositions are welcome. But that does not guarantee brownie
points. It solely depends on your performance.
o Both category vocalists can sing any cover or original song composed by them.
o The prelims will be held off stage.
Prelims-Online
o Online prelims shall be applicable for everyone.
o Not more than 3 minute audio/video/ YouTube link of the song must be sent to
xstage@ximb.ac.in with the
o subject line: Goonj17_Category_Participant Name_College Name before the
above-mentioned deadline.
o All other conditions remain same as the prelims-on campus.
Finals:
o 20 participants will be ideally shortlisted from each category, i.e., Desi Extravaganza
and Western, but the number may change depending on the participation in both the
categories.
o Each participant will be given 5 minutes for a song. Exceeding the time-limit will
result in penalty in the points awarded.
o In the Finals, again, having an instrument along with the song is not compulsory.
The participant can complement his/her song with an instrument (keyboard, guitar
etc.) if he/she is able to play one (A keyboard and a guitar can be provided on
campus only for participants outside Orissa or more than a 12 hour
journey by train from BBSR). Please note that having an instrument will be good,
however, this being a vocal competition, participants will be judged only on the
vocal parameters irrespective of the instruments used.
