The following assignment is based on export documentation. Some basic
question may arise as to why documentation is necessary?
Documentation plays a dynamic role in international marketing as it enables the
smooth flow of goods and expenditures thereof crossways national boundaries.
Documentation forms a uniformity and is a finalized process it also act like a
documentary proof whether the goods entered or exit in the country. It becomes
the data for government.
Import documentation is, however, difficult as the number of papers to be filled
in is large, and the number of concerned consultants to whom the related
documents are to be handed over.
Commercial invoice is one of the important set of document when it comes to
import as it consists of record of official transaction of import and export which
has taken place.
Mandatory documents required for imports:
Airway bill/ bill of lading
Commercial invoice
Bill of entry
Foreign exchange control form
Cargo release order
Product manual
Inspection report
Import licence
Industrial licence
GATT declaration.
The importance of documentation in international business serves different
points like it is done for commercial purpose where all related documents are
prepared on the basis of sales contract. According to legal perspectives each
country has its own legal procedure for the filing of import and export
documentation.
