Symphonic Wind Ensemble (I)

Repertoire (1982-2007)

I served as the Director of Bands at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois (near Chicago)
between 1982 and 2007. The following works were rehearsed and performed in concert during
those years. A few selections, scored for various chamber ensembles, have been included if they
were programed as part of a scheduled band performance.

While all are worthy of consideration, the highlighted works are exemplary and rich in teaching
and learning potential. And although a few are relatively new, they have proven themselves
through many performances. They are structurally and stylistically valid, and historically
significant.

During those years, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble was the most advanced ensemble followed
by the Concert Wind Ensemble, Varsity Wind Ensemble and Freshman Concert Band.

The date refers to the most recent performance. The grade refers to the level of difficulty and is
consistent with the levels used by THE INSTRUMENTALIST Magazine in their new music
reviews.
