Problem Analysing

First create a 3D solid model for the

structure shown. Than fixed the structure
around the inner surfaces of the two
holes. The structure is loaded uniformly
(1000 N/cm2) along the top surface of the
extended beam (Green part).
Perform a static structural analysis for the
structure. Plot the deformed shape, and
find the maximum Equivalent Stress,
maximum deflection and the minimum
factor of safety. The object is made of
structural steel.

(Figure1)

Ansys Solution Steps

Open a Static Structural on the Analysis System.Double click
the geometry and draw this sketch(Figure2).

Give the dimensions from the first 3D model which shown on

the upper (Figure1).

Units are Metric (tonne, mm, s, C, mA, N, mV).

Extrude this sketch 10mm.

Draw a square in the middle of sketch and extrude it 85mm.

Figure3 shown below.

(Figure2)
(Figure3) (Figure4)

Draw a second square shown in the Figure4 and extrude it 60mm.

Double click the Model. Right click the mesh and generate mesh with automatic
method.(Figure5)
Right click the static structural and insert fixed support to inside of two holes.(Figure6)

(Figure5) (Figure6)
Right click the static structural and insert
pressure(1000N/cm2) fort he surface shown in the
Figure7.
Right click the solution and insert equivalent stress and
total deformation than solve it.

(Figure7)
Results

Total Deformation(Figure8) is 0.0014366m. (Figure8)

Maximum Equivalent Stress(Figure9) is 578.18 Mpa. (Figure9)

Conclusion
From the results we can see that structural stell with this dimensions and design cant
affort this 1000N/cm2 pressure which applying the the top surface of the extruted part..
Design and material selections arent appropriate for this system and for this forces because
there is failure.Maximum allowable stress for the structural stell is 220Mpa but in our system
max equivalent stres is 578.18Mpa.
