Mary Caley playground
refurbishment
Mary Caley playground at Rusthall has
been completely refurbished this summer
and re-opened in July, just in time for
summer holidays.
The old playground was in urgent need of renovation, with
most of the play equipment being dated and worn. The
new playgrounds layout has been designed by architects
at Mainwaring Ditch Associates, with help from TWBC
and Rusthall Parish Council, as well as residents local
to the area. Works have been completed by Playsafe
Playgrounds Ltd.
The playground mainly includes new equipment for
toddlers as requested by local families but also has
a scale swing, new net spinner and a climber suitable for
older children.
Old swings have been replaced with new toddler-friendly
swing sets, including a giant basket swing and a Tango
swing seat that allows an adult (or older child) to swing
face-to-face with a toddler. To add more play value for
little ones, a new baby playhouse, see-saw, rockers, small
rotator and balance trail have been installed. In addition,
all fencing, gates and picnic tables have been replaced.
A giant snappy timber crocodile, hand carved by Playsafe
Playground craftsmen, is keeping potential vandals away!
The works have been paid for using s106 developer
contribution funds from planning applications within the
local area. For more information on the project contact

Walks
around
Paddock
Wood

Footpaths
around Paddock
Wood have been
used since medieval times when
they were used by villagers as a means of
getting to work, to the village centre and to the
church. These days, they are more often used
as a means of access to the countryside on
foot for not only the seasoned walker, but for
families to enjoy too.
Some improvements have been made to the paths
around Paddock Wood over the past couple of
years, such as repairs to stiles and bridges, erecting
fingerposts and waymarks and clearing undergrowth.
Here are some walks you may wish to try:
Walk 1 through Moatlands Golf Course to
Gedges Hill (3.25 miles)
Walk 2 to the High Ground of Castle Hill and
Brenchley (5.25 miles)
Walk 3 a walk in Mascalls country (2.5 miles)
Walk 4 around Paddock Wood town (3.25 miles)
Walk 5 from Paddock Wood into the parish of

Walk 6 along the River Medway (5.75 miles)

Theres so much entertainment this autumn that you really
are spoilt for choice here are some of our favourites!
The autumn season will deliver more favourite West End musicals, comedy, fabulous family
shows, great one-nighters and our pantomime directed by our very own JJ Almond, Assembly
Hall Theatre Director.
Following his sell-out preview show last November, controversial comedian Russell Brand
returns with a new stand-up tour. What is real? Who are we? Where did this baby come from?
In Re-Birth Russell Brand wrestles with these questions whilst unravelling the matrix of modern
media, politics, sex, fatherhood and death.
Scottish singer-songwriter Lulu returns with her biggest tour yet. She delivers a show packed
full of her hits, new songs and music that has influenced and guided her throughout her
incredible career.
For the little ones, CBeebies Mister Maker is back by popular demand in his smash hit live
theatre tour, encouraging Mini Maker and grown ups to sing, dance and make some noise!
Other highlights include two heart warming musicals Son of a Preacher Man and
Flashdance. Based on the hit 80s film, Flashdance tells the story of a welder and her dreams.
Starring Strictly Come Dancing champion Joanne Clifton the show brims with physical energy,
immense choreography and a spectacular score which includes the smash hits Maniac, Manhunt,
Gloria and the award-winning title track Flashdance What a Feeling.
Son of a Preacher Man featuring the soulful music of Dusty Springfield embarks on a
national tour this year. Choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing judge, Craig Revel Horwood,
it stars former X Factor star Diana Vickers along with Bad Girls and Coronation Street star Debra
Stephenson.
During the swinging 60s, in a Soho joint where the kids danced the night away to the latest crazes
and dared to dream of love, while the legendary owner, The Preacher Man dispensed advice to
cure the loneliest of tears. Only that was a long time ago and all that remains are the memories,
the stories and the myths. Until now that is!
For the first time in the Assembly Hall Theatres 75-year history, our own Theatre Director
JJ Almond will direct the Christmas pantomime Aladdin. Produced by UK Productions in
association with the Assembly Hall Theatre, Aladdin will feature Michael Greco
(EastEnders bad boy Beppe di Marco), Britains Got Talents Jess Robinson
and CBBCs Mark Rhodes.
In conjunction with the Go! Card we have Pay What You Can evenings on
selected shows. We will be making a limited number of tickets available for
Go! Card holders which can only be booked on the day of the performance at
the Assembly Hall Box Office, either in person or by calling 01892 530613.
