The mean of the data set is 23.67; on average, it

takes most students 23.67 minutes to get to

The previous graph illustrates the average time it takes a sample of high school
students to get to school. The data clearly illustrates how the majority of students
live close to school, taking between 2 and 20 minutes to arrive at school. This
distribution of data will be used to add more buses to the current schedule by
adding more buses within a close radius of the school.

Seneca Valley School District in hopes of allowing high school students to have access
to a shorter and more enjoyable commute to school.

Modes of Transportation

The above graph illustrates the modes of transportation used to get to

school by a sample of high school students. Roughly 69.88% of
students take the car on an average morning while roughly 30.12% of
students take the bus. This data directly supports our motive in
performing this experiment; W.L. Roenigk Inc. seeks to encourage
more students to take the bus, as it saves fuel, time, and money.

bus, but also drive to school on rare occasion. The graph illustrates how the bus
often takes roughly twice as long as a car ride to school. W.L. Roenigk will combat
this issue by installing a larger number of smaller buses to target specific
neighborhoods, attempting to equalize bus and car commute times.

*Note that the two outliers in this data set have car times that are longer than bus
times. These two particular students choose to stop at various times (coffee, gas,
etc.) during their daily commutes, leading to their car travel time to be longer than
their bus travel time. These two students indicated this on their original survey
form.

VI) Conclusion
Based on the data collected and its analysis, W.L. Roenigk Inc.
plans to use a greater number of buses to cater to the Seneca
Valley area. Bus ride times will be at most 25 minutes, roughly
the time it takes an average student to arrive at school on a given
day. By shortening bus times in Seneca Valley School District,
hopefully more students will take the bus, promoting our
company. Further, the above data has led W.L. Roenigk to
allocate more buses toward Mars and North Allegheny School
Districts and remove buses from districts far away (Ellwood
City, Ambridge, Quaker Valley, Butler). This survey has proved
instrumental in the growth of our company. We hope that the
above data and analysis will lead to the widespread use of W.L.
Roenigk school buses.
