The impact of technologist to the industry 4.

Technologist is the profession in which knowledge of the applied mathematical and

natural sciences gained by higher education, practical experience, and competence developed
in a specific field, is devoted to application of engineering principles and the implementation
of technological advances for the benefit of humanity through its focus on product
improvement, manufacturing, and automation of technological processes and operational
functions. - Engineering Technology Council of the American Society of Engineering
Education (ASEE) (Dr. Jones, B. E., et al., 2017-2018). Technologist is the person who
comply the theory giving by the engineers to carry out the project by following the
specification. The more intelligent of machinery carried out by the technologists may
increase the standard and the pattern of their products (Gammack, D. B., 1978).

According to Lu. Y., (2017), the first industrial revolution began at the end of the 18th
century and was represented by mechanical production plants based on water and steam
power. Besides, the second industrial revolution started at the early of the 20th century with
the symbol of mass labour production based on electrical energy. Furthermore, the third
industrial revolution began in the 1970s with the characteristic of automatic production based
on electronics and internet technology. Right now, the fourth industrial revolution, namely
Industry 4.0, is on- going, it is closely related with the Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber
Physical System (CPS), information and communications technology (ICT), Enterprise
Architecture (EA), and Enterprise Integration (EI). The concept of Industry 4.0 was initially
proposed for developing German economy in 2011.

Nowadays, companies have just begun to adopt additive manufacturing, such as 3-D
printing, which they use mostly to prototype and produce individual components. With
Industry 4.0, these additive-manufacturing methods will be widely used to produce small
batches of customized products that offer construction advantages, such as complex,
lightweight designs. High performance, decentralized additive manufacturing systems will
reduce transport distances and stock on hand. (Lorenz, M., et al., 2015).

First and foremost, one of the impact of industrial 4.0 is development of big data. Big
data is important to this eras which the most of them is focus on social or commercial mining.
This includes sales prediction, user relationship mining and clustering, recommendation
systems, opinion mining and etc. For instead, this include machine controllers, sensors,
manufacturing systems (Jay L., 2014). Achievement of self-learning and self-aware machines
is critical for data distribution and management in big data environment. Research has to be
done in the efficient implementation of current data management technologies by adapting
prognostics and health management algorithms. (Sagar, B. S. & Praveen, D. J., 2017). Hence,
a technologist is always playing the roles of communicator of technology to the industry
which translate technology such as manage the data using the data management system
(learningspacetoolit.org).

In addition, simulation is also impact of the industrial 4.0. Simulation is the new
trends of every industry. In the engineering phase, 3-D simulations of products, materials,
and production processes are already used, but in the future, simulations will be used more
extensively in plant operations as well. These simulations will leverage real-time data to
mirror the physical world in a virtual model, which can include machines, products, and
humans. This allows operators to test and optimize the machine settings for the next product
in line in the virtual world before the physical changeover, thereby driving down machine
setup times and increasing quality. Thus, the technologists has the ability to look at emerging
technology trends and apply them to the specific human (learningspacetoolit.org).

Besides that, cloud technology is also include as the impact of industrial 4.0. Cloud
technology is the new trend for data management and controlling which may save ultimate
cost by uploading the data online. Nowadays, information technologists, comply cutting edge
technologies such as computers software, artificial intelligence and fibre optics which all
related with the information data controlling and management. These technologists help in
solving the problem in term of processing and management (The National Academics of
Science Engineering Medicine, 1988).

Furthermore, another impact of industrial 4.0 can be found in manufactures industry.

In most of the manufacturers industries, there have stated to use robots to tackle complex
assignments from long time ago. This is because the robots are evolving for even greater
utility in production. Therefore, they are becoming more autonomous, flexible, and
cooperative. These robots will cost less and have a greater range of capabilities than those
used in manufacturing today. These robots are interconnected so that they can work together
and automatically adjust their actions to fit the next unfinished product in line. (Rubmann,
M., et al, 2015). In manufacturing involves plans, materials, personnel, and equipment which are
transformed in some way that adds value. Hence, technologist acquire leadership and managerial
skills in process and systems design, manufacturing operations, maintenance, technical sales or
service functions. Technologist in manufacturing industrial need to concentrates on individual
subsystems and their overall optimization of cost, quality, speed, and flexibility goals for the success
of a manufacturing enterprise (Dr. Jones, B. E., et al., 2017-2018).

High-end sensors and control units enable close collaboration with humans. Two
padded arms and computer vision allow for safe interaction and parts recognition.

As a conclusion, technologist has a great impact to the industry 4.0 in term of

contributing the skill and knowledge by communicating the design based on the engineers
and carry out it into reality products.
