2 CORINTHIANS 8:9
INTRO: Grace, according to the dictionary, is the unmerited favor of God
toward mankind. The word Grace is used over 170 times in the
New Testament alone. Grace is the predominant theme of the Bible.
All that we can be, all that we enjoy, and all that blessings of God
have their foundation in the marvelous, matchless grace of God!
Our text shows us the sublime truth that God has revealed His grace
to undeserving man through His Son Jesus Christ. We read there
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he
was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his
poverty might be rich. Friends, grace is a gift! Once a little boy in
Sunday School was asked what grace is, and he said, Grace is
something for nothing. Someone else has defined it this way:
Something granted as a favor rather than a right.
Paul, here, asks us to consider what a GREAT GIFT that grace truly
is! He writesFor ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus. You are
acquainted with Gods undeniable love in sending Jesus Christ into
the world and the grace of Jesus Christ himselfthough he was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be
rich. In the message today I want to take the letters of this word, and
let them speak to us about the majesty of the wonderful grace we have
been given through the person of Jesus Christ. Note with me

ROMANS 8:32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for
us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

A. GRACE GIVES TO THE WORLD THE GREATEST PERSON-JESUS
CHRIST. Because of grace Jesus Christ came into this world. God the
Father gave His Son so that mankind might not perish but be saved from
their sins (John 3:16). He took upon Him a body like unto ours (John
1:14) for the sole purpose of dying in our place and for our sin (Philippians
2:5-8; Hebrews 2:9). You may go the world over, and you will not find a
single believer who is disappointed in the once crucified, now glorified, soon
coming King. This is the best answer to the skepticism of the day. Take any
class of society, the highest or the lowest, and there is not an instance of
one who trusted in the Lord and was confounded. PENNYFATHER.
Napoleon is reported to have once saidAlexander, Caesar, Charlemagne
and myself founded empires on force, and they perished; Jesus of Nazareth
alone, a crucified Jew, founded His kingdom on love, and at this hour
millions of men would die for Him. NAPOLEON. (PEARLS FROM MANY SEAS by
