Qu es un modo verbal? El modo de un verbo expresa la actitud de un hablante hacia la

informacin que se enuncia. El ingls tiene tres modos verbales: the
indicative, the imperative (el imperativo) y the subjunctive (el subjuntivo). En ingls, el modo
subjuntivo no se usa con mucha frecuencia. Los modos que ms se usan son the imperative y the
indicative.

Formacin del modo imperativo Para formar el imperativo en ingls, se usa la forma bsica del
verbo.

Para la segunda persona del singular y la segunda persona del plural, la forma imperativa es
idntica a la forma bsica del verbo.

Para la primera persona del plural, se dice let us o lets antes de la forma bsica del verbo.

Hoy en da, es mucho ms comn usar lets que let us para formar la primera persona del plural
del modo imperativo en ingls.Veamos cmo se forma el imperativo en ingls.
Forma bsica Imperativo (segunda persona) Imperativo (primera persona)

go Go! Lets go!

sit Sit! Lets sit!

eat Eat! Lets eat!

study Study! Lets study!

run Run! Lets run!

leave Leave! Lets leave!

Ahora veamos algunos ejemplos con el imperativo.

Are you hungry? - Yes, lets eat!

Tienes hambre? - S, comamos!

Thats my bus. - Really? Run!

Ese es mi autobs. - En serio? Corre!

Im not hungry, Mom. - I dont care. Eat!

No tengo hambre, mam. - Me vale. Come!
