A3. SYSTEM OPERATION AND CONTROL

a) Water is pressurized in the piping of Hose Reel System. Turn ON the 1 diameter Hose Reel Gate Valve. Pull out the
hose. Discharge the water by adjusting the Nozzle head. Water will be discharged in form of water jet or water spray
patterns. The water pressure in the pipe line will drop.

b) Once the pressure in the pipeline drop below drop below preset value of the Duty Pump Pressure Switch, the Duty Pump
will run automatically.

c) Should the rate of discharging is to high or Duty Pump fail to run due to over loading or power supply problem and the
pressure drop further, the pressure switch will activate the Standby Pump. Once the Standby Pump is activated, it must
stopped manually.

d) When the Hose Reel in used is shut off, the pressure in pipeline will build up again and when it reach the cutout pressure
in the pressure switch, the Duty Pump will automatically stopped.

e) The Hose Reel drum is swing type and the hose can be pulled out in any direction for use. The diameter of the Hose is
1 and the Hose length is 100 feet.

f) There are two pressures are to be set on pressure switch i.e. the cut-out pressure and the cut-in for the pump set. On the
pressure switch there 2 scale reading. The Range scale setting is for Pump cutout and the difference scale setting is for
cut-in. For example, if the range is on 50 psi, that means the Duty Pump will cut-in at 50 psi. Pressure switch must be set
according to Pump capacity.

g) The setting of pressure in the system is as follow:-

Duty Pump : Cut-in -55 psi

Cut-out -75 psi

Standby : Cut-in -20 psi

Cut-out -Manual

h) The cut-in pressure of Standby Pump should be set at 30 to 35 psi below the duty pump cut-in pressure.

A4. OPERATION INSTRUCTION FOR HOSE REEL PANEL

The Hose Reel Panel or Hose Reel Controller is designed to operate either in Manual Start or Auto Start.

B. FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

B1. DESCRIPTION

In general, the Fire Detection System by means of sensors such as manual call point, heat detectors, smoke detectors, Fire Alarm
Panel etc. is called Fire Alarm System.

Fire Alarm Panel is could be in fully digitized or conventional transistorized system. TESDEC is equipped with fully transistorized
conventional fire detection and alarm system. The system is only consist of Manual Call Point ( Break Glass ) as the alarm
triggering device. The control system is housed in a signal red mild steel cabinet as a Fire Alarm Panel.

The Fire Alarm Panel can be divided into three component

i) The Zone indication light and control

ii) The Battery compartment
iii) The Mimic Diagram

Each or the zone indicates the area affected the type of alarm triggering devices activated. In our case only Manual Call Point
(Break Glass) involved.

The alarm detected is bold audible and visible (Alarm Bell ringing and light flashing ). Fault and Pump indication are also bold
audible and visible (buzzer sound and indicator Light ON).

There is one (2 units of 12v) of 24v 24AH standby battery capable to maintain the system for 72 hours and minima one hour alarm
load in case of TNB power failure. A battery charger is also provided for automatic charging of the battery.

B2. OPERATION INSTRUCTION FOR FIRE ALARM PANEL

1. NORMAL CONDITION

Set all rotary switches to NORMAL position, switch ON main supply and connect the standby battery.

On normal condition, only two indicator are ONE ie MAINS ON and DC ON. All other indicator light should be OFF.

ACTION IN CASE OF FIRE

i) Focus the attention to affected Zone. Set rotary switch to isolate (ISO) position. The alarm Bell will stop ringing but alarm
indicating light ON and stop flashing. The Zone with isolated light ON with buzzer sound showing that the zone is isolated.

ii) Check and inspect the hazard zone and clear the hazard immediately by using fire extinguisher or hose reel.

iii) If you find that the hazard is beyond your control, contact the fire brigade and activate all the alarm bells by switching ON the
EVACUATE switch.

iv) After the hazard has been cleared and the sensing device replaced or reset, set the rotary switch back to NORMAL position.
Reset the Fire Alarm Panel to normal condition by depressing the alarm RESET Switch.

IMPORTANT NOTES

i) If the hazard is not cleared or the affected sensor is not replaced or reset, the zone ALARM light cannot be reset and bell will ring
when the rotary switch is set to NORMAL position.

ii) When the Fire Alarm Panel is in ALARM condition, it is always recommended isolate (ISO) position rather than silencing
the bell using Bell Silence switch in side the Fire Alarm Panel. This is because once the bell is silence, the whole bell
system is cut-off and no bell will ring if other zone is in alarm condition.
