WHAT IS GRADER ?
A grader, also commonly referred to as a
Road Grader, a Blade, a Maintainer, or a
Motor Grader,, is a Construction Machine
with a long blade used to create a flat surface.
Typical models have three Axles,
Axles with the
Engine and Cab situated above the rear axles at
one end of the vehicle and a third axle at the
front end of the vehicle, with the Blade in

Main Frame
y This a rigid steel structure capable of bearing loads of the 
complete equipment .
y Front Frame Structure is generally formed with structural 
carbon steel tube.  Welded structures are also used.

Circle Assembly

y A notched tilting rack is provided to allow the blade to 
be tilted forward or backward with relation to the 
circle knees.
y The circle is rotated at 360° with the help of a pinion 
powered by the engine‐ hydraulically or mechanically.
y One‐piece forged steel circle is built to stand up to

high stress loads and provide structural durability. The

front 240° of circle teeth are hardened to reduce wear 
and ensure component reliability.

Moldboard & Blade
y The optimal curvature and large throat clearance help 
move material quickly and efficiently. Heat‐treated

moldboard rails, hardened cutting edges and end bits, 
and large diameter bolts assure reliability and longer

service life. The moldboard side shift cylinder is 
positioned on the left side to eliminate snow wing

interference.
y The blade link bar design extends the possibilities for 
moldboard positioning  most beneficial in mid‐range 
moldboard positioning, most beneficial in mid‐range 
bank sloping and in ditch cutting and cleaning.

Drawbar
y The A‐frame drawbar features a tubular

The front-mounted Dozer Blade is used for bulldozing
jobs such as displacing gravel piles, small stump
removal, fallen rock clearance from road shoulders
and other blading applications where access with the
grader moldboard may be difficult.

The Ripper/Scarifier mounts to the rear frame and is designed
for breaking up asphalt or other hard-pack aggregates prior to
blading.
Effective for uniform mixing of coarse and fine material,
improving compaction of road surfaces.

The Push Block is mounted to the grader nose plate and
performs two basic functions: as a counterweight to
maintain grader balance when a rear Ripper/Scarifier is
installed, and as a push point in applications where a
grader is used as a push vehicle

EARTH OR GRAVEL ROAD SHOULDER
MAINTENANCE
In some instances when maintaining
shoulders of these types of roads where
shoulders have been worn or washed away
by heavy traffic or rain ( 1) , some additional
material will be required .
This material is required to reform the
shoulder to the correct width and shape (2) .
The shoulders are usually scarified to assist
the bonding of the material. (3)
The added material is windrowed over the
shoulder and down the slope toward the
drain ( 4) .This is initially elevated to allow
for compaction.
After compaction the new shoulder is recut
to desired shape and width (5).
