Q.01 (a): Generate a straight line connecting two points (20, 10) and (30, 18) using Bresenhams
algorithm.
Q.01 (b): Discuss mid-point circle algorithm.
Q.02 (a): Prove the differential scaling and rotation are not commutative, but uniform scaling and
rotation are commutative.

Q.03: Explain the following two- dimensional geometric transformations:

Q.04 (a): What are the essential elements of typical CAD/CAMsoftware? A triangle PQR is having
vertices P (10, 15), Q (40, 15), and R (30, 50). If the triangle is to be reflected about arbitrary line
y = 0.4x + 2, determine the concatenated transformation matrix and coordinates of new vertices of
the triangle.
Q.04 (b): Determine the raster scan locations selected by Bresenhams algorithm while generating a
line from (1,0) to (10, 3).
Q.05 (a): A triangle ABC with vertices A (0, 0), B (1, 1) and C (5, 2) is to be scaled by a factor of 3
unit about a point C (5, 2). Determine: (i) the composite transformation matrix, and (ii) the
coordinates of the vertices of the scaled triangle.
Q.05 (b): A triangle with A (2,2), B (6,2) and C (4,6) is to be rotated about point C in CCW by 35;
scaled by factor 2.5 in X and Y direction; and finally translated by 3 units in X direction and 5 units
in Y direction. Determine: (i) the composite transformation matrix. (ii) the final position of triangle.

matrix for it. Also find the mid-point of a Hermite cubic spline with the two points as (1, 1) (6, 5)

Q.01 (a): State Advantages and applications of FEM.
Q.02 : Write short note on shape function in FEM.
Q.03: Define element stiffness matrix. Fig.-1, Shows three springs, having stiffness 2, 2 and 4 N/mm
respectively, connected in series. Both ends of the assembly are fixed. The forces of 10N and 20 N are applied
at nodes 2 and 3 respectively. Using the finite element method, determine the displacements at nodes 2 and 3.
Q.04: Fig-2, Shows a cluster of four springs. one end of the assembly is fixed and a force of 1000N is applied at
the other end. using the finite element method, determine: (i) the deflection of each spring. (ii) the reaction
force at support.
Q.05: A stepped metallic bar with circular cross-section consists of two segments. The first segment, made of

Aluminium, is of length 1000 mm and cross-sectional area 3200 mm . The second segment, made of brass, is of

length 2000 mm and cross-sectional area 1200 mm . The modulus of elasticity of aluminium is 70GPa, while the
modulus of elasticity of brass is 100 GPa. If the bar is fixed at one end of the bigger section and subjected to
tensile forces of P2 = 250 Kn and P3 = 80 Kn. as shown in Fig.-3, determine: (i) the nodal displacements
