Vintage: 2005
Nose: The nose is fine and lifted with very intense pure cassis aromas, liquorice and
some subtle seaweed notes combined with fine smoky French oak.
Palate: The palate is intense and deep with layered rich cassis, blackberry fruit, minerals
and strong tannins The finish is long and fine with a softer tannin finish than normal
with fine suede like tannins.
Winemaker Comments: An outstanding First Growth that will be among the best vintages of this label.
Growing Season/ Vintage 2005 was warm and dry with fruit coming in relatively early especially
Vintage Notes: compared to 2004. This prevented in 2005 long maceration of the best parcels as
normal, so the fruit was barrel fermented in new French oak chateau barriques,
from Taransaud and Seguin Moreau.
WINEMAKING:
Varietal Composition: Cabernet Sauvignon 91%, Merlot 9%
Fermentation Method: Barrel fermentation with a small percentage of long maceration in 8 tonne static
stainless steel fermenters
Skin Contact Time: 8-30 days, 68% barrel fermentation and 12% was long maceration
Barrel Origin: 100% French Oak, Seguin Moreau Chateau, and Taransaud Chateau barriques
MLF: 100%
