ThesystemshownbelowrepresentsatypicalDeltaVSystem.ThiscomprisesofUnspecifiedSafeArea
ApparatusandI/OModulesandallothernecessaryapparatussuchaspowersupplies,carriers,carrier
extenders,etc.Asystemmaybeconfiguredinahorizontalorverticalpositiondependingonthetypeof
carriersused.Eachsystemhasamaximumlengthof6.5meters(includinginterconnections)andmay
includeupto64I/Omodules.

1. Provisionshallbemadeexternaltothesystemtopreventtheratedvoltagebeingexceededby
transientdisturbancesofmorethan40%.Thesystemmustbemountedinanenclosurein
accordancetoEN6007915,oroneoftheprotectionslistedinClause1inEN600790withat
leastadegreeofprotectionIP54accordingtoEN60529:1991andpollutiondegree2,as
definedinIEC606641.Whenthesystemisinstalledinanenclosure,theenclosuremusthavea
labelthatreads,BeforeopeningpleaseconfertheZone2InstallationDocument.Metal
enclosures,whichareratedIP54,passtherequiredimpactspecificationbydefault.Consultthe
hardwaremanualfortemperaturederatingcalculationsforsystemcomponentswhenlocated
inanenclosure.

3. ThevoltagesourcetotheDC/DCSystemPowerSupplymustnotgenerateorcontaininnormal
operationasourceofpotentialinexcessof28.8VDC

4. TheEthernetconnectionconnectedtotheDeltaVControllercannotberemovedorinserted
whenpowerisappliedunlesstheareaisknowntobenonhazardous.Thisconnectionmustnot
beconnectedtoasource,whichgeneratesorcontains,undernormalconditionapotentialin
excessof60VACor75VDC.

5. Bussedfieldpowermustnotbeconnectedtoasupply,whichgeneratesorcontains,under
normalcondition,asourceofpotentialinexcessof28.8VDC.

6. SystempowermustbedeenergizedbeforedisconnectinganycarriersorLocalBusextender
cablesorterminatorswhereapplicable.

Anenergylimitedcircuitisoneinwhichanyarc,spark,orthermaleffectproducedduring
normaloperationispreventedbyenergylimitationfromignitingthesurroundingflammable
atmosphere.
NonSparkingCircuit
Anonarcingcircuitisoneinwhichanyarc,spark,orthermaleffectcapableofignitingthe
surroundingflammableatmosphereispreventedfromoccurringbymechanicaldesign.
Nonsparkingcircuitsaretypicallynotenergylimitedandcancontainenergylevelscapable
ofignitingtheflammableatmosphereifinterruptedwithoutfurthermeansofprotection.
NormalOperation
Apparatusissaidtobeinnormaloperationwhenitconformselectricallyandmechanically
toitsmanufacturer'spublishedspecificationandperformswithoutanyfault.
