Agilent G3300AA MassHunter Workstation Software

Reference for Main Window > Instrument Status Pane

MS TOF Icon
This panel shows the status of the TOF device. The following
information is displayed:
 Ion source and polarity
LC stream divert valve position (MS or Waste)
Ref Sample/Calibrant valve position as follows:

Ref A Reference Sample A is open to the TOF source.

Cal B Calibrant B is open to the TOF source.
blank Valves A and B are closed.

Status of reference mass detection as follows:

The status of reference masses being found.

The status of reference mass detection in the current or previous

run. If a run is in progress, the status of the current run is
displayed. Otherwise the status of the last run is displayed.
The status of reference mass detection in the current or previous
worklist. If a worklist is in progress, the status indicates whether a
reference mass was not found any time during a run. The run
where a reference mass was not found is noted in the Logbook.

The reference mass icons described above are color-coded as follows:

Green All masses are found.

Yellow At least one mass is not being found.
Red None of the masses are being found.

Shortcut Menu (right-click)

On Drying gas flow, nebulizer pressure, and temperature

zones to setpoints.
 No valve changes.
If successful, the TOF icon turns green.
Standby MS source high voltages off (i.e. Capillary, OCT RFV,
PMT)
 OF analyzer not changed
Drying gas heater temperature to 300C (default)
setpoint
Vaporizer gas temperature (for APCI source) to 325C
Nebulizer pressure to 20 psig (default) setpoint; If
source is MALDI, nanoESI or dual nanoESI, the
nebulizer pressure is 0 psig. This means that if MS is in
Standby, a change in the source set point will change
the Standby state.
Drying gas flow to 3.5 L/min nitrogen
LC divert valve set to Waste
Calibrant and Internal Standards - none
If successful, the TOF icon turns gray.
Off MS high voltages off (i.e. Capillary, OCT RFV, PMT)
TOF analyzer voltages off (see Method Editor
Parameters Tab)
LC divert valve set to Waste
 Source temperatures off
Drying gas flow of 3.5 L/min nitrogen is maintained
unless the MS is vented
If successful, the TOF icon turns gray.
Note: Don't use the Shutdown option unless you plan to
vent the MS or perform major service. Once TOF is in the
Off state, signals may not stabilize for 24 or 48 hours.
Note: If the spray chamber is opened while the system is in
the On or Standby states, the Drying Gas and Vaporizer
temperature are set to zero (ambient). The stream
selection, Nebulizer pressure and Drying Gas flow are
unchanged. Temperatures return to their setpoints when
the spray chamber is closed again.
Vent Vents the MS to atmospheric pressure. A warning message
will be given because it takes several hours to reestablish
the proper vacuum levels in the instrument. You can
monitor the vacuum progress in the Diagnostic tab of the
MSTOF tab in the Method pane.
Pump Pumps down the TOF system to achieve high vacuum.
Down When the pump down process finishes, TOF is in the
Standby state. Pumpdown continues until the TOF is at
high vacuum. You can monitor the vacuum progress in the
Diagnostic tab of the MSTOF tab in the Method pane. After
pumpdown is complete, you need to condition the high
voltage using Condition HV from the TOF Diagnotic tool,
within the Agilent TOF program group on your desktop.
After high voltage conditioning is complete, run an
Autotune with the Initial option selected.
APPI UV Turns the UV lamp on or off in the APPI source
Lamp
TOF Displays the Report Options dialog box to select the print
Settings destination and generate the TOF Settings report.
