Cheat mode:
Press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + C during game play to display a prompt in the upper lef
t corner of the screen. Enter one of the following codes to activate the corresp
onding cheat function. Note: Enter [Exclamation point] at the prompt to repeat t
he last cheat entered. Enter a [Semi-colon] between codes to enter multiple code
s at the same time. Additionally, most of the codes will only work with the unpa
tched version of the game.

Quick money:
Enable cheat mode and enter the klapaucius or rosebud code. Display the cheat pr
ompt again and type !;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!:
!;! (up to sixty total commands may be entered).
Enable cheat mode and enter klapaucius;: or rosebud;: as a code. Then hold [Ente
r] so that "No such cheat" begins to flash. Keep the key held to gain up to 99 m
illion simolians. Note you can replace : with any invalid character in the cheat
.
Enable cheat mode and enter rosebud ; ; or klapaucius ; ; as a code.
Once you reach 9,999,999 simoleons, it will stay that way for the rest of your g
ame.
Easier repeat cheats:
To make it easier to repeat a code, such as the money code, first enter the code
, then make a mistake after what you have repeated. For example enter the money
cheat, then enter !;!;!;!;!;!: (note the colon at the end instead of a semi-colo
n). The game will respond "Sorry, invalid cheat" but you will have the amount th
at you requested. When you click "OK", the cheat will still be at the prompt. Pr
ess [Enter] again and click "OK" for another repeat of the cheat you entered. No
te: The game will exit if too much money is accumulated.
Quick navigation:
Hold [Alt] and press the cursor keys to navigate quickly.
Shade:
Press S during game play to get the shade in the house.
Hidden cartoon:
When you insert the game CD-ROM and it asks whether you want to start or visit v
arious web sites, move the pointer over the gray Maxis symbol in the bottom left
corner. It will change into colored text. Click on it to see the hidden cartoon
.
The person in the cartoon is Will Wright, the creator of SimCity, The Sims, etc.
riding the electric scooter he uses to get around his office building.
Real music:
Note: This trick requires a music recording/downloading program. Record/download
the music of your choice. After that save the music files to The Sims game in t
he path "/Maxis/The Sims/Music/Stations/" followed by "Rock", "Classical", "Lati
n", or "Country". This can also be saved so that the TV plays the music by selec
ting the "SoundData/TVStations" path instead of "Music", then choosing "Mystery"
, "Romance", "Comedy", or "Action".
Information window:
Hold [Alt] + [Shift] and move the mouse. This will open a window that will displ
ay the room number, elevation, and similar information.
Hint: Multiple game data:
Create a folder in the Sims folder called "User Data". Warning: Do not overwrite
the current folder or you will destroy your program and be required to reinstal
l. You must move the old one to another folder. Copy (do not shortcut) your file
s to the new folder to your new one. In your new game, delete your existing fami
lies and their houses. Keep them in your existing game. You now have multiple ga
me data and can swap folders when desired.
Hint: Keeping need meters full:
If you are having troubling making sure your Sims bars do not drop too low, paus
e game play, then tell your Sims what they need to do. When you resume the game
you will not have to worry about trying to get your Sims bars full.
Hint: Easier relationships:
Create a family with a male and female adult that are of the same category (such
as Virgo and Virgo) and move them into a house (or created house). Immediately
after selecting live mode make them kiss approximately ten times in a row to set
their relationship meter to be 100. If you continue kissing the female should a
sk to have a baby.
You can make a room especially for the parents with no doors. Use the move_objec
ts on code and put the parents in a room with no doors. If you want them to have
a baby, have them kiss a few times (not necessarily ten) and she will ask about
the baby.
Never let Sims choose their own social interactions. They make horrible decision
s. The best way to build a relationship with another Sim is to talk until the re
lationship is at about 30. Compliment until it reaches 60, then hug until it is
100. If possible, do not fall in love -- it can bring down the Social motive whe
n jealousy occurs. Just make friends and send them on their way.
Hint: Friendship/lovers:
If you are trying to get a Sim to like another Sim, and you want to propose, som
etimes the game will respond "I Can't think on an empty stomach". Before the Sim
arrives, make a meal. If it gets late, delete the doors, then they cannot leave
.
Buy The "Concatenation Station", then have the Sims make a potion. Keep doing th
is until they fall in love. Note: You must make the Sim drink the potion.
Hint: Get rid of annoying visitors:
Enable the move_objects on code. Go to buy mode and click on the visitor. The me
ssage "Press delete or click here to dispose of 'unknown'" will appear. Press [D
elete] to remove the visitor.
Hint: Getting visitors:
If your neighbor says no when asked to come over your house, brush your teeth ab
out two times. Then while you are on the phone with your neighbor, repeatedly pr
ess 1 and 2 (speed change). Your neighbor should say yes most of the time.
Hint: Faster skill:
Select the create a family button. Create three to eight kids (boys or girls). W
hen you finish creating, change the kids into adults. Then, click the finish cre
ating button and move in them into any lot. You will find that your characters w
ill already have skills. Some will have full skills such as cooking, etc.
Hint: Artist career:
You can make a living as an artist. Get a new character and make him or her a li
ttle studio with the basics (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room) and get th
e paint stand. Paint all the time and sell your paintings. When your creativity
is at the maximum, you can sell your paintings for about 135 Simoleons each. Alt
hough its not much, you do not have to get up in the morning and will have more
time to train your other abilities.
Hint: Selling the dead:
This is a useful trick if you had a Sim die. When Sims die, they leave an urn or
a gravestone behind them which your Sim will mourn for 24 hours. After this tim
e you can pick it up in furnish mode and sell it. You only get about 3 to 10 Sim
oleans for it, but it is better than turning your garden into a cemetery.
Hint: Delete diamond:
Enable the move_objects on code, then highlight the diamond which is above a Sim
's head. You can move it around or delete it.
Hint: Get outdoor items indoors:
Use the following trick to place a grill, playground, basketball court, or other
outdoor items inside your house. When building your house, leave part of the wa
ll open. The CPU will consider that room as part of the outside. Place your outd
oor item in the room, then close the wall. Note: This only works in one room at
a time.
Hint: Magic garbage bag:
The following trick saves the time needed to take the garbage to the street. Buy
the 30 simolian garbage can. Order your Sim to empty it, then cancel the order
just as they remove the bag from the can. Then, order them to pick up the mess t
hat they just created. Your Sim will return the full bag to an empty can. Repeat
this each time it fills and trash will never have be brought outside again.
Enable the move_objects on code and pause game play by entering the buy screen.
Pick up the trash can and move it right next to your front door.
Hint: Free trash can that never fills:
Enable the move_objects on code. Enter any house. Then, place the outdoor trash
can inside.
Hint: Stop the newspaper:
Enable the move_objects on code. When the paper delivery girl arrives, delete he
r before she delivers the paper.
Hint: Keep Sim sleeping:
If your Sims are asleep and you do not want to disturb them with a loud noise th
at coming from the television or something, enter build mode, delete the object
that is making noise, and buy a new one.
Hint: Double phone message:
Place more than two phones in your house and wait for the phone to ring. Direct
two of your Sims to answer different phones. By doing this, two messages will ap
pear for each of your Sims. Sometimes the game will even offer some generous amo
unt of money.
Hint: Have a baby:
When both parents are not busy, have the father sit and watch television until h
e is very relaxed. Then, tell the mother to give him a back rub. Keep doing this
until the father enjoys the back rub. Note: You may get denied at first, but ke
ep trying. Once you have successfully given him a backrub, kiss him. He should f
all in love; if not, keep doing this until he does. Then, have them take a Jacuz
zi together. Have them sleep together that night. If nothing happens, then have
them sleep together the next night also. Eventually they will have a baby. You c
an also do this the other way around, with the father starting it.
Hint: Keep baby easier:
To keep a baby without social services taking it away, just have one of the pare
nts (the person in the lower rank of their job is recommended) to miss work two
days in a row to get fired. They can now pay 24 hour attention to the baby.
To save your baby from being taken, enable the move_objects on code. Then, go to
buy mode and click on the person and delete her. Your baby should appear again.
Note: You will have to raise your baby again, but it still works.
Enable the move_object on code, pick up the baby, and put it in your bedroom. Wh
enever your baby cries, you will automatically wake up, and feed, sing, etc. , t
hen go back to sleep.
Hint: Another chance with the baby:
If your baby gets neglected and the social worker appears, quickly pause game pl
ay. Enable the move_objects on code and enter build mode. Select the hand, pick
up the social worker, and delete her. A new baby will appear in the middle of th
e room, and you can re-name it.
Hint: Change the sex of a baby:
Have a baby, then have someone pick it up. Enable the move_objects on code, and
while the person is still holding the baby, go to build mode. Click on the Sim h
olding the baby and delete that person. Afterwards, the game will say you had a
baby. To bring the Sim back, click on that person's icon. You will only have one
baby. If this does not work, try again. Note: This may lower your Sim's work sk
ills.
Hint: Decide baby's sex:
The baby's sex depends on who you have instructed to do the "kiss of love," or t
he kiss that brings the baby. If you instruct the man to kiss and they have a ba
by, it will be a boy. If you instruct the woman to kiss, it will be a girl.
Hint: Putting a baby to sleep:
Click on the baby and select "Feed", "Play", "Sing", "Feed", and "Sing". This sh
ould put the baby to sleep for one day. Once three days have passed, the baby wi
ll turn into a child.
Hint: Exceed family member limit:
Use the following trick to add other members to your family, after you already h
ave eight members. Enable the move_objects on code. If you have a family that co
nsists of eight members and you want to add another, delete six of your family m
embers. Those members are not gone forever. If you want another kid, keep the pa
rents active and try to get a baby. If you want another pet, keep one adult acti
ve and buy a pet. You will not be able to control what this new member does.
Hint: Clone your child:
When your a a baby and it turns into a child, quickly pause game play and and cl
ick on the pictrue with the red "X:. You will now have two kids, but you can onl
y control eon of them.
Hint: Ghosts:
When someone dies in a family, and there are still family members remaining, the
y will be haunted by the ghost of the Sim that died.
Hint: Controlling ghosts:
To control a ghost, enter the tutorial house and continue until Betty enters. Pu
t in a series of fireplaces (burn to death) or light bulbs (electrocution) and m
ove Bob out of the house. Block all the exits and kill Betty. The game will anno
unce that you failed the tutorial and Betty's head will still be on the control
panel. Click it and her ghost will appear. If one action is done, or you wait to
o long, she will disappear (you can get her back). Try changing her clothes and
taking baths. Note: This may not work in the patched version of the game.
Hint: Naked Sim:
Enable the move_objects on code when your Sim is inside the shower, when there i
s no pixelated censor. Then, move your Sim/shower to somewhere in the house and
you can see your Sim naked.
As soon as a Sim enters the shower or bath, go to build mode and use the hand to
ol, to remove the shower or bathtub from the bathroom. The Sim will continue to
shower or bathe, but they will be bare without the pixelated censoring.
Hint: Naked Sim in hot tub:
If you have a Sim with an Outgoing rating of 7 or more, he or she will go in the
hot tub naked. The first person to go in will cause an impact on all the rest.
If the first person goes in naked, the rest also will, even if their outgoing is
a 1. The reverse is also true -- if someone goes in with a bathing suit, a Sim
with a Outgoing rating of 10 will also wear one.
Hint: Floating Sim:
Enable the move_objects on code. While your Sim is asleep, enter buy mode and mo
ve the bed. Your sim will be sleeping on nothing and their comfort will continue
to increase. This works also with naps.
Enable the move_objects on code. Have a Sim go up or down stairs. When your Sim
is halfway up, go to buy mode and move the stairs.
Hint: Comatose Sim:
Wait for your Sim to go to bed. Enable the move_objects on code. In build mode,
move your sleeping Sim to a new location. He will have full comfort, social and
fun meters, but empty hunger, bladder and hygiene bars while dreaming away alive
, but unable to wake up.
Hint: Frankenstein Sim:
Buy the "Concatenation Station" and have the Sim make a potion. Have the Sim dri
nk it and he will turn into Frankenstein. Note: Keep trying if this did not happ
en the first time.
Hint: Never take out the garbage:
Buy the small blue 30 Simoleon garbage can. Whenever it is full, sell it for 30
simolians. Then, just buy a new one, and you will never have to take out the gar
bage again.
Hint: Never miss work:
Enable the move_objects on code and put your garbage can in front of the vehicle
.
Enable the move_objects on code and move the car to a different location where a
n inanimate object is in its way.
Hint: Full need bars:
Enable the move_objects on code when your Sim is sleeping. Enter buy mode and re
move the bed on which the Sim is sleeping. The Sim will disappear. When you retu
rn to live mode the Sim will reappear somewhere else in the house and all mood b
ars will be at 100%.
If your Sim is very depressed, enable the move_objects_on code and pause game pl
ay. Click on the Sim in buy/sell mode and click the bottom of the screen to dele
te him/her. Once deleted go to the live mode and double clock the person's head
icon to go to where that Sim is located. Everything should be close to full. Not
e: Wave the game immediately before performing this cheat, or you will lose any
career changes or points you have earned. When done to a child, their report car
d goes to a B-.
Enable the move_objects on code, then select a walking Sim with a bad mood in th
e buy mode. Then, "sell" the Sim. Go back to the live mode and click on the icon
of that Sim. Check his/her mood and all except "Room" and "Fun" will be full.
Enable the move_objects on code. Have your Sim to take a shower of bath. When he
or she is in the shower or tub, pause game play and enter buy mode. Click on th
e shower or tub and delete it. Your Sim and tub/shower will be gone. Your tub/sh
ower will be gone permanently, but your Sim will be walking around in your house
somewhere else, usually their room. Their "Energy", "Happiness", and sometimes
"Fun" will be almost full.
If you are having extreme trouble keeping a Sim happy, usually when you cannot g
et their social or room rating up and you are low on money, save your game. Evic
t the family, then move them back into the same house. Now you can start over wi
th a clean slate.
Sit your Sim on a couch and enable the move_objects on code. Go to build mode an
d delete the couch when your Sim is still on it. Return to live mode and time wi
ll go into fast forward as if you were sleeping (if there are no other Sims curr
ently in the family). Then, click on the Sim's face at the bottom of the screen
and everything but your bladder will go up all the way. Note: At times one skill
point for body may be lost. This may also cause your Sim to lose job skills.
If your Sim is very unhappy, save the game and exit to the neighborhood screen.
Click "Evict", and evict them. Then, move them into the house you want (either t
he same one or different) and furnish it. Your Sim will now be very happy. Let h
im or her go to work like that and get a promotion. It helps you do better in sc
hool or work, and makes them happy.
Hint: Buying multiple items:
When you are buying chairs or other items that you require multiple numbers of,
hold [Shift] to repeatedly place the item where desired without having to re-sel
ect it.
Hint: Never have the carpool leave:
Enable the move_objects on code and place the mailbox on one side of the road an
d your outdoor trash can on the other side; or put a wall across the road. When
the carpool appears it will not get by.
Place your trash can in the way of the carpool. It will just stay there and honk
.
Hint: Car portal:
Enable the move_objects on code and go into buy mode. Click where a car usually
shows up. Note: Do not delete it or you will not be able to go to work.
Hint: Go to work for one hour:
When your carpool arrives to pick you up, enable the move_objects on code. Move
your mailbox or trashcan in front of the car. Then, wait until you have one hour
until your work shift ends. Get in the car and move the mailbox or trashcan out
of the way. You will be at work for only one hour.
Hint: Less bills:
Keep an unpaid bill until the mailman delivers the next set of bills. Pay the or
iginal bill when your mailbox is filled with the next set of bills. This should
cause the bills inside the mailbox to disappear.
Hint: Less time needed to pay bills:
When you get the bills, your Sim will normally walk inside put it on a table bef
ore they can be paid. Cancel the table action and that person will put it on the
ground. Click on the bill and pay for it immediately.
Hint: Never pay bills:
Enable the move_objects on code. Then, pick up the mailbox and erase it. Bills c
annot be delivered if you do not have a mailbox. However, no one will know where
you live. Visitors will appear at your house, but just stand there. You also wi
ll not be able to greet them.
If you delete your mailboxes it may cause complications such no more pizza, carp
ools, etc. Try this instead. Click the mailbox and choose "Get mail". Your Sim w
ill get the mail, then will set it down somewhere. Enable the move_objects on co
de. Then, click buy mode, pick up the mail with the hand icon, then press [Delet
e] or choose the "Delete mail" option at the bottom of the screen.
Use the following trick to pay your bills, but cost you nothing. Tell your Sim t
o pay the bill as soon as he or she walks into the same room as the bill. Pause
and save the game, then enable the move_objects on code. Delete your Sim, then r
evive him while the game is still paused. Resume the game and tell your Sim to p
ay the bill. The bill should be reduced to 0 Simoleons.
Save the game, then enable the move_objects on code. When your Sim has all of th
e bills in his hand, delete your Sim in buy mode. Then, return to live mode. Cli
ck on your Sim's picture. Your Sim will reappear, but your bills will not.
Have your Sim pay bills. Make sure the bills are in the white envelope and that
your Sim in walking to the mailbox. Quickly go to buy mode and buy an object, ma
king sure that you use more than you owe on the bills. Then, return to live mode
. Your Sim will pay the bill even if there is 1 Simolean remaining. To get your
money back, go back to buy mode and sell the object. You will keep all your mone
y.
Buy a fireplace and place it in an empty room. Note: This may work better if you
sacrifice an 30 Simoleon trash can to start the fire, since that is usually muc
h cheaper than the bills. It may or may not work without it -- this was tested w
hen they were on a table. Place your bill(s) on the left side or in front of the
fireplace. Have a Sim start a fire. Note: If any Sims die, exit without saving.
Hint: Deleting garbage and bills:
Use the hand to pick up either a plate, trash, or bills. Drag it over something
on which you cannot place it, such as a couch or a plant. Then, press [Esc] and
the object will disappear. This is especially useful if you do not want to comma
nd your Sims to clean up or pay the bills.
Hint: Deleting walls or floors:
Use the same tool used to build a wall or floor. Click and hold where you want t
o erase, hold [Ctrl] + Z, then drag the pointer as if building a wall or floor.
Note: This has no effect on swimming pools.
Hint: Cheaper wallpaper and floors:
Get money for old wallpaper before you paste new wallpaper in a room. Sell the o
ld wallpaper, then paste the new. This also works on floors.
Hint: Free snack:
Have your Sim get a snack, and when he/she takes it out, cancel it out before th
e money message appears. Then, pick it up and eat it. You can sell chips in buy
mode for 15 Simolians, for a profit of 10 Simolians.
Hint: Easy money:
If you need just a little money, enable the move_objects on code. Have a Sim rep
eatedly get a snack, but cancel it before they start eating. They will put it on
the floor. Then, enter buy mode and click on it. A message stating "Press Delet
e or click here to sell Chips for $15" will appear. The snack only cost $5, so y
ou get a $10 profit.
Keep evicting your Sim until the net worth is as much as desired.
Enable the move_objects on code, then go to build and floor tiles. Got to the en
d of the road and hold [Ctrl] and click. Drag down the road to sell it for easy
money.
Buy a house that has walnut doors in it. You can sell them for 160 Simoleons, ev
en though they are originally priced at 100 Simoleons.
Enable the rosebud code to get some money, then move your Sims into a lot that h
as two roads, visible from the lot. Enable the move_objects on code. Go to build
mode and select the most expensive carpet. Put the carpet down only out of boun
ds. Save the game and go back to the neighborhood. Create a family. Move them in
to the same lot that you just modified. The extra carpet will not cost your Sim
any extra money. When you get to the lot, enable the move_objects on code and se
ll the carpet. You will get about 20,000 Simoleons every time you do this. Repea
t this until you have a desirable amount of money. Note: This lot will not have
a road, but your Sim will not know.
Hint: Free pizza:
Order a Pizza, and when the pizza man arrives, do not greet him. Before he leave
s, use the move_objects on code to move the pizza out of his hand and put it ins
ide the house. Then, delete the pizza man to save 40 Simoleons.
Hint: Get dressed faster:
When one of your Sims is eating, enable the move_objects on code and take away t
heir plate. They should immediately get dressed and get on with their day.
Hint: VR head:
Order a Sim to put on a VR helmet, then start to tell him/her to do something el
se. The Sim will have a head with a VR helmet.
Hint: Teleporter:
Call the police, fire department, or the pizza guy, and enable the move_objects
on code. Move the person into a very small room. Wait awhile and a teleporter wi
ll appear and take them away.
Hint: Stolen vehicles:
Enable the move_objects on code to steal the carpool car or schoolbus. Enter "Bu
y mode" or "Build Mode". Use the hand to highlight the car or bus. Move it onto
a piece of land. Slant down the land around the car or bus. If done correctly, t
he vehicle will become stuck and begin to honk its horn. Enter "Buy mode" or "Bu

To stop work or school vehicles from appearing, enable the water_tool code and p
ut water on either ends of the road.
Hint: Hostages:
You can keep Sims hostage (kids, adults, FBI agents, and people from the neighbo
rhood) by making a house with one door. Once people are in the house, block the
door by creating a pool around the house as large as desired. You can also block
the door with stoves and other appliances.
Hint: Trap sim:
Have a Sim fall asleep on the floor. Enable the move_objects on code and move th
e Sim under the bed while sleeping. When they get up, they cannot move anywhere
unless you move them again or move the bed.
First, greet someone or call someone you know. Enable the move_objects on code a
nd move the Sims into a bed, so their body is intersecting the bed and their fee
t are on the bottom. They are now stuck. To free them, enter build mode, click o
n the hand tool, and move them. While he or she are stuck in the bed they cannot
talk, unless they were talking before.
Enable the move_objects on code. Make a toilet. Move your Sim into the toilet an
d continue the game. Your Sim will be helplessly trapped in the toilet and canno
t escape.
Hint: Free repair man for life:
Hire a repair man come to your house and fix a broken appliance. Once he has ent
ered your house, build a wall around him and make sure he is trapped for two day
s. After twp days, he will die and turn into a ghost. Whenever you have a broken
appliance, the repair man's ghost will automatically appear and fix it for free
. Note: This can also be done if the repair man gets electrocuted and dies, whil
e trying to fix an appliance.
Hint: Stop robberies:
Enable the move_objects on code, then click on robbers and press [Delete].
Hint: Slowing down robberies:
If you want to get more time to let the police catch robbers, etc., hold your po
inter over the robber and follow him with it. He will walk in slow motion.
If you want to slow down a burglary, build a moat with the pool tool around your
house. Then, put the ladders at the front and back of the house. The robber wil
l go in the pool, swim all the way around the house, and climb up the other ladd
er. When he first appears, call the police. The police will follow him into the
pool to catch him.
Hint: Start a fire:
Place 17 stoves near a fireplace. Light the fireplace and everything in that roo
m will soon catch on fire.
Hint: Stop fires:
Enable the move_objects on code, then move the fire out of the house. The fire w
ill still burn, but will be far from your house.
Hint: Get rid of floods:
If the house floods, go to build mode, highlight the area, and click. An icon wi
ll appear. Click "Delete" to get rid of the flood.
Hint: Island house:
Build your house, but do not make it too large to have enough room for the water
. Take the pool maker and place water all around the house. Note: Make sure you
make a small pathway to the road so your Sim can get out of the house.
Hint: More than two stories on a house:
Make a two story house, delete the first floor, and put stairs on the second sto
ry. Then, delete the second story and keep doing that while deleting the floor c
losest to the ground before making another story.
Hint: Very big pool:
Enable the rosebud or klapaucius code and repeat to get 9,999,999 simoleans. Ent
er the rosebud or klapaucius code again, then enable the move_objects on code. Y
ou can now turn the road into a pool.
Hint: Pond:
If you want to put a pond around your house, enable the water_tool code and get
the pond tool.
Hint: Swim with clothes on:
Enable the move_objects on code, go to buy mode, and move a Sim over a pool. The
y will start to swim in the clothes they are wearing.
Hint: Drunk Sim:
You can get your Sim drunk with the Drink Maker. Click "Make Drinks", then feed
your Sim all those drinks. Do this twice or more times. When you get your Sim dr
unk, this will cause vomiting. Note: You cannot do this with children.
Hint: Military school:
If your kids slack in school, they will be sent to military school.
Hint: Change any tile:
The map_edit on code can be used to lock/unlock any tile on the whole lot. Enter
the code, click on the "light" tiles that are not yours, and you will "buy" it
for free. You can also click and hold and point over all the light tiles. After
all of the desired tiles are yours type map_edit off to exit that mode. The whol
e lot, including the road, is now yours. Using this trick will allow you to plac
e objects anywhere. You can repaint the side walk or road in any desired color,
and decorate anything the way you want.
Hint: Change location where Sims appear:
Enable the move_objects on code, then select the last piece of concrete in front
of your house.
Hint: Killing Sims:
Send an unwanted Sim to a specific spot. Enter build mode and place a wall aroun
d the Sim. Do not put else inside the room with the Sim. The Sim will die in two
days.
Have your Sim go to the bathroom. While in there, delete the door and he or she
will be trapped there until they die.
First take an unwanted Sim and tell him or her to swim. Remove all the exits the
and the Sim will die when he or she falls asleep.
Place a Sim in the pool, then enable the move_objects on code to remove the ladd
ers.
Enable the move_objects on code, go to buy mode, and click on the unwanted Sim.
A message will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click "Delete" and your Sim w
ill be immediately be gone.
Send your Sim to a certain location. Enable the move_objects on code, then buy s
ome furniture and put it around you Sim. In two days your Sim will be killed.
First build a small box-shaped room and put a fireplace in it. Put carpeting all
over the floor. Tell your Sim to light a fire. Once they are in the box. Enter
build mode and delete the door.
Wait until a robber enters the house. Enable the move_objects on code and delete
the door. Then, enable the move_objects on code again and put any Sim in front
of the robber. He will then kill your Sim.
Hint: Get tombstones:
The easiest way to get tombstones short of starving your own family is to starve
your neighbors. If you like your neighbors, first create families of eight rand
om people. Then create a closed in area, put a teleporter (custom downloadable o
bject from various Sims sites), and teleport your neighbors in. It works best if
it is a water enclosed area because you can use the move_objects on code to mov
e in one of your less experienced cooks and start a fire with a stove. Make sure
you have enough room to keep them away from the fire until it goes out naturall
y. There is because even if you have a phone, the fireman cannot get to the fire
and you cannot move your Sim out of the enclosure until the fire is out. Try to
keep them busy cleaning up all the messes on the floor. If you do not want to g
o through all that trouble, just wait about four days and they will begin to die
. Note: If you kill off all your neighbors, they do not reappear when you go bac
k to the neighborhood -- they are dead permanently.
Hint: Remove tombstones:
Use the following trick to stop your beautiful gardens from turning into graveya
rds. Enable the move_objects on code, then click on the buy icon. Click on the t
ombstone that you want to delete. As you pick it up, click on the blue object at
the bottom of your screen. The tombstone should be gone, and your Sim will stop
mourning.
Hint: Nice looking graveyard:
Kill your Sim. After they are dead, go to buy mode and arrange all of the tombst
ones. To make it very neat and formal, but the smallest three first, then the se
cond largest three second, then the two biggest ones last. Leave two spaces ahea
d of the tombstone to put the flowers (Nasturtium recommended). Adding a gate or
decorations is optional.
Hint: Revive dead Sims:
If one of your Sims dies, sell everything in the house. Then, evict the family a
nd buy the house again. When the house loads, all of the Sims will be alive with
full mood bars.
In order for this trick to work you must have one other Sim in the house. When o
ne of your Sims dies, the Grim Reaper will appear to burn it to ashes. Use one o
f the Sims to plea for mercy when he is near the dead Sim. You will then play ro
ck, paper , scissors with him. If you win he will make the dead Sim a zombie. If
you lose he will burn the other Sim to ashes. However if he is feeling generous
he will make the dead Sim a zombie. If the Sim becomes a zombie and you do not
want it to be one, to get the original Sim back enable the move_objects on code.
Delete the zombie Sim and select its face again in live mode. Your Sim is now b
ack to life.
Hint: Restore energy:
When your putting out fires, your Sim will have about half of their energy resto
red. Make a firework. Enable the move_objects on code and when it is coming down
, click on it and put it inside the house. Have your Sim extinguish it. The ener
gy bar will go up fast, but only half way.
Hint: Burn house:
Put fireplaces all over the walls and light all of them. The house will soon cat
ch on fire.
Hint: Rundown shack:
Enable the move_objects on code. Buy a house and sell pieces out of the road and
sidewalk. You can also turn it to gravel or fade the lines. Next, build dry wal
l. You can also try building a second floor. Have holes in the floors on first a
nd second levels. Have part of the wall bare with no wallpaper. Have non-matchin
g windows (any window other than single pane fixed for the primary and single pa
ne fixed for replacements recommended to simulate replaced windows). This also a
pplies with doors. Let the trash overflow. Make sure to have plants that require
water so that they can die. When things break, do not fix them. Do not clean th
e toilet, shower, fish tank, etc. Note: This is not a good home for Sims.
Hint: Automatic name:
When the family has a baby and you are asked to name it, do not type anything. W
hen it becomes a kid its name will be "Sim Child".
Glitch: Floating house:
Build a house on the wooden pillars and make sure you cover the entire area wher
e you are building. After you are done, destroy the pillars underneath it and bu
ild stairs to get to your front porch.
Make two stories the same size as you want the top floor to be. The first has to
be totally enclosed. Make stairs to the top floor then create the walls, roof,
etc. You will not be able to change it later. Finally, delete the walls of the b
ottom floor, then delete the stairs. Your Sim will be on the top story by himsel
f with no bottom floor.
Use pillars on the first floor to create the shape of the house. Fill in every s
pace inside the shape, except a spot for a staircase. On the second floor, build
the house. Enable the move_objects on code, go to the first floor, and delete t
he pillars. You should now have a staircase going up to a house that is floating
.
Place a lot of columns around the ground and build your house on top of it. When
you are done, delete all the columns. Note: Make sure you have a way to get to
the house, or no one can get in.
Glitch: Build outside of your property:
Enable the move_objects on code, then just start building. Note: Make sure that
you leave at least one square of property in between your house and the end of t
he screen. Otherwise, the message "Cannot build outside of property" will appear
.
Glitch: Sim without a last name:
After you create your Sim, type in a last name, such as "y" or something similar
. Move the pointer over the "Okay". Press [Backspace], then quickly select "Okay
". If done correctly, you should have a Sim with no last name.
After making your family, type in one letter for a last name. Press [Backspace]
then automatically click "OK". If timed correctly, you should be at the "Create
a Family" screen with no last name.
To have a Sim without a last name, press [Space] once.
Glitch: Disappearing Sim:
Build a large amount for stilts in a square pattern at least 10 wide and 10 long
. Click the second level and put flooring on top of the stilts and walls around
the top. Place stairs going up to the second level. Have your Sim go up the stai
rs, then remove the stilts. Enter build mode and delete the stairs and the house
will disappear. Rebuild the stairs and click on them. The game should tell your
Sim to go down. When have him or her go back up, they will disappear at the top
.
Glitch: Floating Sim:
Enable the move_objects on code and get your Sim to "sleep". Just when he or she
is about to get in bed, move the bed away from him/her. The bed will have a den
t in the pillow as if the Sim were sleeping on it, however the Sim is floating i
n air.
Glitch: Disappearing Goth:
There is a graveyard behind the Goth's house. At night, a ghost will come out fr
om the graveyard. If the ghost touches a character twice, that Sim's family port
rait (on Live mode at the bottom) will be gone. Note: This does not change the c
haracter in any way, and if you evict that Sim his/her portrait will return.
Glitch: Jump back:
Enable the move_objects on code and select a Sim. Move the Sim onto a tree and g
o to live mode. The Sim will instantly return to the space where you picked it u
p from.
Glitch: Disappearing maid:
Go to the house with the tree in the pool. Have someone hire a maid. Enable the
move_objects on code, pick up the maid, and put her in the tree area. If done co
rrectly, the maid will eventually disappear.
Glitch: Magnetic maid:
Put a Jacuzzi right on the edge of a pool. Hire a maid and enable the move_objec
ts on code. Pick up the maid and put her on the ledge. Build a wall so she canno
t get out on the sides. If done correctly, your maid should be walking around in
the Jacuzzi. Note: It is impossible to free your maid from the Jacuzzi. This tr
ick works best in L-shaped parts of the pool.
Glitch: Swim indoors:
Make a pool. Hire a Maid and enable the move_objects on code. Pick up the Maid a
nd place her in the pool. She will walk around on top of the water and fall in.
She will then swim inside for a while until she gets to the object that she want
s to clean.
Glitch: Social worker swims on land:
If a social worker arrives to take your baby, enable the move_objects on code pu
t the social worker into your pool. She will disappear then reappear back at you
r front door to take your baby. She will be still be swimming, but she will not
be in the pool.
Glitch: Swim in grass:
Enable the move_objects on code. As soon as a visitor leaves (pizza boy, mail gi
rl, neighbor etc.), go into build mode. Pick that person up and put them in the
water. They will be teleported out and will be swiming in the grass or ground so
me distance away.
Glitch: Swim in a puddle:
If you have a puddle on your lot, make one of your Sims start swimming in the sw
imming pool. Then, enable the move_objects on code. Pick up your Sim and put the
m in the puddle. It will appear as if your Sim is swimming in a puddle.
Glitch: Swimming firefighter:
Have your Sims start a fire and when the firefighter arrives, wait until he star
ts to leave. Enable the move_objects on code and move the fireman on top of a po
ol. When he drops in the pool, he will disappear and reappear where he was when
you grabbed him. He will be swimming in the ground. When he is about to disappea
r, he will walk again.
Glitch: Saved by the repo man:
Add a second floor to your house. Do not add a stairway. Enable the move_objects
on code. Wait for the paper girl, maid, mail girl, or gardener to arrive (or ca
ll the pizza man). Place him or her on the second floor. Do not let them go. Wai
t approx. one day. A circular tornado-looking object will appear around them, li
ke when something is repossessed. Note: Unless you do not like the neighbor, do
not attempt this on them. This trick does not work on them, and will kill them.
It will be like placing a Sim in an empty room with no exit. Note: This does not
work on the first floor.
Glitch: Stacked Sims:
Have a Sim sleep. Then, have another Sim sleep. Make sure they are in separate b
eds. Then, go into buy mode and enable the move_objects on code. Lift up a Sim a
nd put it on the other Sim's bed. The other Sim will wake up. Next, put the Sim
to sleep on where the other Sim's bed (who is still sleeping). Then have the Sim
who is still sleeping wake up. If done correctly, the Sims should be stacked on
top of one another.
Glitch: Walk on water:
Enable the move objects_on code and have your Sim to swim in your pool. Go to bu
y mode, click on the Sim in the water, then go to live mode. You Sim should be w
alking on water.
Glitch: Holes in roof:
Sometimes when you build a big house, square openings will appear on the roof.
Glitch: Moving statue:
If you buy the Large Black Slab by ChiChi Smith and rotate it, the leg that is u
p will change.
Glitch: Continuous whistling sound:
Enable the move_objects on code. Make a fence so that there are four squares of
land in the middle. Wait until the newspaper girl appears. As soon as she kneels
down to drop the newspaper, enter buy mode. Place her inside the fenced area. W
hile playing with your Sims, you will hear the whistling that she makes. Note: I
t is not known if the newspaper girl dies or if another one appears the next day
. You may also create a "zoo" with a larger fenced area by using paper girls, po
lice, firemen, crooks, and even your own Sims.
Glitch: Stool labeled as Doll House:
Have a child in your family. Get them to use the sink and they will get on top o
f a stool. Pause game play and enable the move_objects on code. Pick up the stoo
l, and it will read "Doll House".
Glitch: Wrong speech gender:
This only works if you have two Sims, one that is male and one that is female. H
ave the Sims each in separate rooms that are far enough away from each other so
that you cannot hear the other if you have one on the screen. Have both Sims sta
rt practicing speech in a mirror. While watching one Sim, click on the face pict
ure of the second Sim. You will see the second Sim talking, however if it is the
male it will have a female voice, and vice versa.
