ETE 663 Schooling in a Diverse World

Synthesis: Diversity Action Plan

Diversity Action Plan is a plan for you as a professional in education, nursing, or dietetics for
interacting with colleagues, supervisors, students/patients/clients, and stakeholders from a variety
of backgrounds and diversities within the context of your workplace, and for integrating your
knowledge of diversity, writ large, in the execution of your duties and responsibilities. The purpose
of this plan is to heighten self-awareness through the articulation of a vision and goals relative to
the areas of diversity we have examined. To this end, you will also identify action steps/strategies
that will help you to achieve these respective goals, and the resources needed to facilitate this
process. Use the following table for showing when and how you plan to integrate your
understanding of various types of diversity in the execution of your diversity action plan.

Vision: I want my students to feel safe and comfortable and that they can express themselves
freely. I want to foster an environment in my classroom where being open-minded can open them
up to an education that goes beyond the classroom and translates into their everyday lives.
