(Glossary)
The radar chart graph indicates deviation of calculated result in percentage against standard value measured
at shop trial. If engine condition is in normal condition, the chart shows shape of clear nonagon or similar
shape. However, if engine condition is not in normal condition or calculated by inaccurate data, nonagon
becomes distorted.
[Torque rich] :Torque rich index.
If propeller margin exists or equal to propeller curve, deviation is on the standard.
[BHP vs FOC] :Engine output at pump mark BHP against F.O. consumption BHP.
If engine output by pump mark equal or smaller than engine output by F.O. consumption,
deviation is on the standard.
[P vs Ne] :Corrected pump mark against engine speed.
If pump mark is lower than standard due to propeller margin, deviation is on standard.
The indication becomes higher than standard in case of fuel pump abrasion or torque rich.
[Ps vs Nt] :Corrected scavenging pressure against corrected T/C speed.
Deviation of corrected scavenging pressure is indicated against standard.
Scavenging pressure is influenced by not only accuracy of pressure gauge or sensor, but
also cylinder gas seal condition.
[Pc vs Ps] :Corrected Pcomp against corrected scavenging pressure.
Deviation of corrected Pcomp is indicated against corrected scavenging pressure.
The result is influenced by not only accuracy of measurement Pcomp, but also accuracy
of scavenging pressure.
[Pc vs Est Pc] :Corrected Pcomp against estimated corrected Pcomp.
Deviation of Pcomp is indicated between estimated Pcomp and corrected Pcomp for
assisting to judge accuracy of Pcomp measurement and Pscav measurement.
If deviation between item [Pc vs Ps] and [Pc vs Est Pc] is similar level, Pcomp can be
judged reliable.
[Nt vs Ne] :Corrected T/C speed against engine speed.
Deviation goes high or low corresponding to T/C speed against engine speed.
If engine load is in light load condition due to propeller margin, indication becomes lower
than standard; however, if turbine blade has worn , indication also become lower as well as
light load condition. However, if indication is higher than standard, contamination or
deformation is expected at Nozzle ring of the T/C.
[Nt vs BHP] :Corrected T/C speed against engine output.
Deviation goes high or low corresponding to T/C speed against engine output.
If T/C speed is in normal condition, deviation is almost zero. Indication is influenced by
condition of fuel pump clearance, contamination of nozzle ring etc.
[Texh vs BHP] :Corrected exhaust gas temperature against engine output.
Deviation goes high or low corresponding to exhaust temperature.
Indication is influenced by fuel oil quality, engine load condition, T/C condition, and aging
deterioration of the vessel itself.
