GENERAL
Ban Lee Hin Engineering & Construction Sdn. Bhd is appointed by PKT Logistic Group
Sdn Bhd(The Owner) as the Contractor for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and
Commissioning (EPCC) For The Ship Campus located in Batu Kawan , Penang ,Malaysia.
All employees will comply with this method statement and the requirements of the Health and
Safety at Work Act 1974, and other relevant health and safety legislation, together with any
specific site rules as where applicable, the requirements from contractors safety policy and
construction phase health and safety plan.
1.0 PURPOSE
This Method Statement is to describe the general procedures for in-situ concreting works
for pilecap at the project site and also describing about all the preventive actions to be
taken in order to achieve good quality and safety.
This Method Of Statement is defined the site concreting procedure for the pileca
construction works.
2.1 Resources
The following Plant & Equipment will be utilized as and when necessary to assist in the
works
2.1.2 Manpower
The following manpower will be involved in the construction works. The number of
manpower shall be based on the needs at site, and as where required

2.1.3 Material
The following as the major materials will be utilized at site to complete the installation
works. The dimension, capacity and type of materials shall be as per construction
drawings.

Spacer Blocks
The dense concrete spacer or equally approved shall be used in between the
reinforcement, bottom and sides to ensure correct cover concrete over the
rebar
The works shall be supervised by supervisor and safety supervisor; they shall be present
at all time to ensure the safety at site is not compromised. All the required certificates
must be submitted before work commencement
Excavation Works
Setting out and mark the location for excavation works.
The Depth of the excavation will be refer to the construction drawing as a
reference.
Lean Concrete
Before pour lean concrete ,dewatering should be done and the water to be
discharge at existing drainage.
The thickness and grade of lean concrete will be base on construction
drawings.
Installation Formwork
The postion of the pilecap will be mark and formwork will be install
Installation Rebar
The Rebar will be install base on construction drawings and spacer
block will be use as supports for the reinforcements to create gap in between
reinforcement and concrete and to prevent from sagging during concreting
works
Placing Of Concrete
Concrete shall be poured by direct pouring by using crane direct pour.
Placement of fresh concrete shall be carried out as soon as concrete is
discharged from truck. It has to be vibrated thoroughly by using mechanical
vibration.
Where required, approved admixture shall be used to prolong concrete
setting time
Placing concrete shall comply with BS 8110-1 clause 6.2.2.
When water table is high or after heavy rain, dewatering pump shall be used
to ensure the excavated trench always in dry condition during excavation and
construction of pipes/cables bedding.
Compaction
The concrete shall be compacted thoroughly by vibration to form a dense
homogenous mass free form voids
Vibrations shall be carried out continuously until the expulsion of air has
ceased. The compaction shall be deemed completed when mortar appears to
be annulus (in a circle) around the vibrator
Compaction of concrete shall comply with BS 8110-1 clause 6.3.

Removal Of Formworks
Formwork shall be removed in the way of not including any damages to the
concrete.
Minimum period required to remove side formwork is 12 hours after casting.
Reference shall be made in accordance with BS 8110-1 clause 6.2.6.

Excavation /
The following equipment / PPE as identified following the completion of the Site/Task
Specification Risk Assessment and Method Statement need to be taken to site and used
All employees and subcontractors will be made aware during daily site tool box talk of
any risks their work can expose themselves and others in the vicinity. Safety Supervisor
and Site supervisor will liaise with the principle contractor on the matter of safety to
ensure safe working environment
Site supervisor and safety supervisor shall be present at all time to make sure worker
working at height and the installation method carried out is safe and as described in
the method statement. Safety kit shall be available near to the working area, in the
event of injury
Work will only commence when adequate protection is in place. Safety measures for
the working at height (equal or higher than 1.8m above ground level), fall protection
shall be implemented in accordance to MEB HSSE Plan, to ensure safe construction. It
shall be as follows, but not limited to:

All workers engaged in the job site shall wear appropriate p.p.e and provide emergency
medical facilities or kit in accordance to the hsse plan as below :-
3. First aid: first aid kit(s) will be available in the shelter area and in the
vehicles. For major injuries isos will be contacted (019-2962787). This
service is available 24 hours 7 days. All injuries and incident will be
reported to the Blh hses in timely manner.
The list of welfare facilities will be provided in the construction site as below.
