How does this placement meet the unit requirements and philosophy?

This placement meets the unit requirements and philosophy as it will depend my
understanding on how it will allow me to explore the different contexts on school, teaching
different ages, educational issues as well as how different educational stages can impact on
students/ children in different ages. As I have chosen to do my PP3 at a childcare centre, i
would like to understand and explore how education is taught in specific ways to aid a
child's understanding and needs. I am interested on how a child's knowledge in formed to
understand different teaching pedagogies. As a secondary pre-service teacher, i am
interested as how different perspectives and educational issues are impacted in different
ages and how children of disadvantaged circumstances receive support.
Doing my placement in a childcare I will be exposed to children of all stages, it will allow me
to use my multiple skills and literacies to enable lifelong learning, engage with different
cultures and diversity. I believe it is vital that as a secondary pre-service teacher it is
beneficial to understand how early childhood education is being taught depending on their
circumstances and how this may affect a childs future education and understanding when
they enter primary and secondary education. Doing my practicum at a childcare centre will
be a beneficial factor to my learning journey and will provide me with an opportunity to see
how students face barriers in educational surroundings as I have done practicum in
secondary schools, I would like to be able to challenge myself in different surroundings and
different teaching methods.

I will be able to explore the curriculum that has been designed for early childhood as I would
be able to help children work to their full potential and are receiving high quality care and
learning. Through the curriculum i would be able to understand and implement the
principles, practice and outcomes to be able to aid the children learning as well as my own
learning. As the Early Childhood learners curriculum is based on play-based learning,
enhancing their motor skills, communication, emotional and social development will help
me assess and partake in teaching effectively prepare children into the next stages of
learning as well as strengthen my managing skills. I will also be interacting with the
community and childrens parents. This will also help me in my future role as a secondary
teacher to be able to connect with parents and the community as well as fellow educators.
Early childhood curriculum involves teaching the child about sun protection, dental hygiene,
food hygiene, toilet training, and teaching cultural norms such as holidays and festive
season will be taught through craft to engage children.

Outline your Role and duties: (Be precise: Supporting..., helping , providing...., designing......,
etc):

I will be assisting in the early childhood teachers with teaching the children. I will focus on
aiding in basic needs, early childhood play-based learning, enhancing their motor skills,
communication such as literacy and numeracy and their emotional and social development.
I will be helping with the same duties that the early childcare teachers will be doing. I will
focus on proving and designing activities and educational lessons for mixed ability children
with using a variety of materials and resources . I will aim to design these activities to
support all teaching areas as well as make the surroundings comfortable, educational and
vigorous with engaging materials so all children will be able to respond well and engage. As I
will be using my managing skills I will also be assisting with meal planning and activity times
such as outdoor play and try to keep everything on schedule. I will be supervising and
monitoring the children for their safety, well-being and hygiene and aim to develop
connection with students to ensure that the children are feeling safe, comfortable and aid
to their interests to enhance their educational engagement. As my major is English I will
involve myself in reading time and will aim to use engaging and educational books.
