CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 GENERAL:
1.2 CLASSIFICATION
In this circumstances there are many book stalls are there but there is no bigger book stalls
with all facilities . So that I have used to provide the multi storey book stall in that area. .It will
fulfil the sufficiency of the youngsters need of studies. To minimise difficulties faced by the
book reading peoples and childrens too. This place can help all age peoples to strengthen their
reading power.
1.4 OBJECTIVE
To know peoples about their surrounding world and to enrich their social
knowledge
1.5 SCOPE
It helps us to enrich our design knowledge and to know about the design of all elements
of the building which is to be designed. By this we know a lot about design of various structures
which can hep us in future.
1.6 LOCATION
It was located at the opposite of Government Girls Arts and Science College,
Pudukkottai. It is just a kilometer from bustand. This place has sufficient transportation
facilities because the site is located near the Pudukkottai bus stand. It is very useful for that
area peoples and youngsters and surroundings also. The site is convenient for all the peoples
who came from that surrounding. It is a very peaceful environment for studying. It is very
useful the college students also.
CHAPTER 2

3.1 ANALYSIS
3.1.1 INTRODUCTION
Analysis is the determination of effect of loads on the structures when applied on it.
This will compute the structure deformations, internal forces, support reactions, stresses and
its stability. This computation will help us to design the main components of a building.
From the above mentioned type of analysis , for this project kanis method of
analysis is taken.

2. Dead load
3. Wind load
1. L.L +D.L
2. L.L+D.L+W.L
Given Data:
Shorter span, LX = 6m
Longer span, LY = 8m
Width of support, b = 230 mm
Grade of concrete, fck = M30
Grade of steel, fy = Fe500
Slenderness Ratio, LY / LX = 8/6 = 1.33 < 2
Hence, it is a two way continuous slab.
Edge condition: Two adjacent edges discontinuous.
1. Depth of slab:
Assume D=200mm
use 10 mm dia bars.
Effective depth, d = 200 - 20 -10/2
d = 175 mm
2. EFFECTIVE SPAN:
Mx = x x wu x lx2 = 0.052x18x6.1752
Mx = 35.69 kN.m
My = y x wu x lx2 = 0.037x18x6.1752
My = 25.39 kN.m
5. SHEAR FORCE:

V = 0.32N/mm2
Pt = 100 Ast / bd

Pt= 0.28%
Refer table 19 0f IS 456-2000
K = 1.2 , c = 0.38
Kc =0.45
v < kc
Hence the shear stresses are within safe permissible limit
(l/d) basic = 28
(l/d)provided = 6000/175= 34.28
(l/d)max= (L/D) basic x kt x kc
from fig. 4 of IS 456-2000,
Kt =1.3 for pt = 0.28%
(l/d)max = 28 x 1 x 1.3=36.4
(l/d)provided < (l/d)max
Hence, it is safe.

ESTIMATION, COSTING AND SCHEDULING
4.1 INTRODUCTION
Estimation or estimating is the process of calculating the quantities and cost of
various items of works involved in the project. Estimation is done with reference to the
already prepared plan or the details collected. Estimation is the major part of this project.
This can be obtained by calculating the earthwork, concrete in foundation, damp proof
course, masonry and up to painting should be calculated. Accuracy in estimate is very
important.

CONCLUSION
This is a project which tells a lot about all the basic details that are required for designing a
building either it may be a small or large one. From this project, a clear understanding and
execution of a design, detailing, analysis and estimation and costing of a commercial
building.
