Mount Apo
Mount Apo is considered as the highest mountain in the Philippines. This is the most popular destination in Mindanao
for mountain climbers. It is standing in the magnificent height of 2, 954 meters above sea level. Apo means
grandfather, so Mount Apo means Grandfather of Philippine Mountains. It is situated in between Davao City , Davao
del Sur and Cotabato Provinces in the island of Mindanao.

How to get there: Step 1: Call the Tourism Office in Kidapawan. Step 2: Fly to Davao and take the van to
Kidapawan. Step 3: Register at Kidapawan Tourism Office. Step 4: Ride a habal-habal to the hike's starting point in Brgy.
Step 5: Summit Mount Apo.
Lake Sebu
Lake Sebu is one of the frequently visited among the tourist spots in Mindanao. Lake Sebu provides quite beautiful
scenes: the lake, the birds, misty leaves, the mountains and more. One of the main attraction in Lake Sebu is the Seven
Falls Zipline that will give you a top view of 3 out of 7 waterfalls. Lake Sebu also supplies irrigation to Cotabato,
Mindanao, Philippines.

How to get there: It will take about an hour to reach Marbel. From the bus station in Koronadal
(Marbel), there is a Yellow Bus Line en route to Surrallah. The ride will take bout 30 minutes; prepare Php 28 for the bus
fare. At Surallah's Terminal, look for a van or a jeep bound forLake Sebu.

Lake Bababu
Lake Bababu is believe to be a secret place of healing by the natives living near the lake. It is surrounded by walls of
granite and forest. There are 2 ways to get to the lake whether to trek or to dive. There is an underwater cave that
connects the lake to the sea and most technical divers love this adventure. Lake Bababu is located in Surigao, Mindanao,
Philippines.

How to get there: Ship or fly to Surigao del Norte. From Surigao del Norte, board a boat to San
Jose, DGIs main town.You can find the boats in the bay walk where the boats to Siargao are located. Mine was
a 3-day solo trip, and it cost me around P4000 all in. I am based in Cebu, so there are ships regularly ferrying to
Surigao del Norte and other provinces in northern Mindanao.Coordinate with Balay Turista, the provinces
tourism office doubling as a budget hotel. For island-hopping, the boat, which can accommodate up to 10
people, costs P1500, Although I traveled solo, I shared the boat with Tristann, a traveler from Manila.There is a
mandatory guiding to Lake Bababu. It cost us P250 each.

Lake Holon
Lake Holon is a beautiful crater lake of Mount Parker. Though trekking is a challenging one, many trekkers are going to
the lake setting up a tent and bonfire and doing their things. Kayaking and swimming are also a popular activity in the
lake. This beautiful lake is hidden in South Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines.

How to get there: Take a bus en route to Koronadal/Marbel that passes by General Santos.Trip will take
around 4-5 hours.Alternatively, you may just take a bus to General Santos and transfer to a bus bound for Marbel.At
Marbel, ride a van with a sign board Direct Tboli.Trip is about 45 minutes to 1 hour.You have to charter skylab
(motorbike) to Barangay Salacafe , the jumping off to Mt.Melibingoy.Fare is Php 100 per person, minumum of two
persons.You may also ask for posters before you proceed with the trek, ask how much is the fee before proceeding.The
hike is about 3-4 hours to Lake Holon.

Naked Island
Naked Island is really naked. It is an island without trees or something really visible afar but just white sand and clear
waters. This is a perfect place for swimming but its gonna be hot since you got nowhere to hide. Do not forget to bring
your sunblock. This beautiful and naked island is located in the Surfing Capital of the Philippines, Siargao, Surigao del
Norte, Mindanao.

How to get there: From Surigao City, Siargao is 2 hours away by boat. Boat From the gateway to
Mindanao,Davao City, Surigao City is 8 hours away by land.Bus Fare is Php500 from Davao City to Butuan and from
Butuan City to Surigao City is Php195.From Surigao City, Siargao is 2 hours away by boat. Boat fare is Php200/head to
Dapa in Siargao.Van rental around the island is Php4,000/day.Boat rental for the island tour is Php1,500.
Satti

Satti is a popular breakfast food in Mindanao particularly in Zamboanga. Its actually three small bits of meat (beef and
chicken liver) grilled in a stick similar to a barbecue, only it is served along with rice balls swimming in a sweet spicy
sauce. Rendang

A dish acquired by Maranaos in Southern Philippines from their neighboring country Indonesia. The Filipino version of
the dish is a bit different in terms of preparation methods to suit their tastes and some ingredients are substituted with
local components. Maranaos rendang is prepared by crushing the spices before frying and cooking it with the beef and
coconut milk. The dish can also be described as a caramelized curry. Pastil
Pastil is a popular Mindanao food found in the street of Maguindanao. Its basically a rice covered in banana leaf with
chicken or beef adobo strips as fillings, which proves that Mindanao cuisine is more on easy-to-follow recipes.
Zamboanga has also their own version of the dish. Their pastil is like an empanada, but instead of pork and vegetables,
pancit noodles (rice noodles) are used as fillings.

Kaamulan Festival
Kaamulan Festival is an annual convergence of all tribal leaders in Agusan del Sur. The festivals highlight is
the authentic tribal performances and/or rituals by the tribal priests. Kaamulan Festival is celebrated every
September 23rd in Salug, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur. Naliyagan Festival

Naliyagan Festival which is celebrated every June 12 to 17 in Prosperidad, this festival depicts Agusanon
culture and heritage with natives showing off their tribal dances and rituals.

Santikan Festival

On the dawn of 24th Araw ng Trento when the first festival was launched the word santikan emerged as a
very significant label of the celebration.In the historic days of Trento, this word was often used by the natives as
an invitation to a contest usually a competition between two Manobo warriors or the ostensible baganis. The
Santikan Festival is celebrated every June 12 to 15 annually in Trento municipality which offers various
friendly competitions.
SINGKIL

The Maranao dance called Singkil is in the repertory of all Filipino dance troupes. There are many
interpretations of this dance. In 1958 the Bayanihan Dance troupe started with a simple version and has since
developed it into a theatrical and stylized spectacle to the point of its becoming the troupe's signature piece.
ANGALAY

There are various versions of the dance called Pangalay, popular among the
Badjao, Samal, and Tausog groups. The basic dance, with its expressive hand
movements, is sometimes performed with long silver or golden nails
(called janggay) attached to the dancers' fingers. Among the Badjao-Samal
groups, a Spanish-influenced Pangalay, a dance called Bulah-bulah, employs
shell or bamboo castanets. Another variation of the dance is one in which a
girl performs atop two bamboo poles borne on the shoulders of two men and
is called Pangala
