9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U: Iub interface physical description

Introduction
The Node B provides an Iub interface to be backhaul-connected to the network elements
(from the RNC). The Iub interface is in charge of managing:
Physical layer management (configuration, alarm reporting)
Layer two (switching)
The Iub interface consists of the following links:
E1 link that respects ITU G703 or G704
T1 link based on ANSI standard
IP link
The raw data rate between the Node B and the RNC is 1.984 Mbps (for E1) and 1.53
Mbps (for T1).
Depending on the data flow, ATM protocols AAL2 and AAL5 are used on the physical
link between the Node B and the RNC.
Iub backhauling can be optimized using the Alcatel-Lucent 9500 Microwave Packet
Radio (MPR).

Hybrid Iub
The hybrid Iub interface consists of the following connectivity:
ATM/PCM connectivity for R99, HSDPA, or HSUPA signaling and OAM traffic
IP/Ethernet connectivity for HSPA traffic (HSDPA + HSUPA, or HSDPA only)
Note: Hybrid Iub bandwidth pools resiliency (default configuration)
When IP connectivity is lost, new HSPA calls are transferred on the ATM path.
If the ATM path is configured into separate pools (one dedicated for HSPA on IP, the
other shared with R99 on ATM), and the dedicated pool fails, then new HSPA calls are
put in the shared pool.
The hybrid Iub interface requires a CCM-U module (MDA GE hardware configuration).
Hybrid Iub backhauling can be optimized using Alcatel-Lucent 9500 Microwave Packet
Radio (MPR).

Native IP Iub
The native IP Iub interface consists of a full IP/Ethernet transport on an Iub interface.
When a native IP Iub feature is deployed, the ATM/PCM connectivity is no longer used
on Iub.
The native Iub interface requires a CCM-U module (MDA GE hardware configuration).

PCM connection cables
For outdoor cabinet models, PCM connection is done through IP67 circular connectors
located on the bottom of the cabinet.
For the indoor V2 cabinet model, PCM connection is done through D-Sub 37 pin
connectors located on top of the cabinet.
The PCM cable is connected to the Iub port on the Node B bulkhead and to the
distribution frame.
In the case of a 120-ohm network, the only equipment needed to ensure the PCM
connection is the 120-ohm PCM cable.
In the case of a 75-ohm network, it is necessary to have baluns (two baluns per PCM) to
ensure adaptation from the 120 ohm of the Node B to the 75 ohm of the customer
network. Two types of baluns can be used: BNC, 1.6/5.6, or SMZ type 43.

9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U: RF block modules

Introduction
The RF block for the 9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U contains the TRDU (TRDU 60-21 or
60-21B) module.
The number of modules depends on the Node B configuration.
There is no electrical backplane in the RF shelves. All the cables providing
interconnection between the modules are mounted at their front.
In addition to the RF block inside the cabinet, the 9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U can
support Remote Radio Equipment (such as MCTRX or RRH). These modules are not in
the scope of this chapter.

9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U: RF block

The RF block for the 9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U contains one shelf containing six
slots, housing up to six TRDUs.
All modules are removable.

Transmitter Receiver Duplexer Unit (TRDU), used with d4U

The TRDU module is a complete UMTS Radio Equipment designed to operate in the full
UMTS FDD band I (2100 MHz band). It manages functionalities between base band
CPRI interface and Radio Frequency (RF) air interface.
The 9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U is equipped with the TRDU60-21 or TRDU60-21B
variant, that delivers 60W nominal composite output power at module level, and supports
up to four adjacent frequency carriers at 20 MHz instantaneous bandwidth:
60W x 1 frequency carrier
30W x 2 frequency carriers
20W x 3 frequency carriers
15W x 4 frequency carriers

Main functions
The TRDU module integrates the following three functions in a single module:
Transceiver
Multi-carrier power amplifier
Duplexer/filter
The TRDU6021 (or TRDU60-21B) module can manage up to four adjacent carriers in
UMTS Band I (2110-2170 MHz in downlink; 1920-1980 MHz in uplink) with the
following characteristics:
Downlink: one transmit chain supporting up to two adjacent UMTS carriers (carrier
spacing between 4.6 MHz and 5.2 MHz)
Uplink: dual receive chain in a main/diversity arrangement supporting two adjacent
carriers
RF air interface is supported through two antenna connections:
One duplexed antenna connection supporting transmit and receive main paths
(Antenna Main)
One single antenna connection supporting receive diversity path (Antenna Div).
Base band interface is supported through two CPRI links, support of CPRI rate 2 (1.2288
Gbps) and HW ready for CPRI rate 3 (2.45 Gbps), for daisy chaining or dual slave
(UMTS + LTE) connection.
The TRDU module includes a DC/DC converter for the -48 V DC power supply
conversion.
The TRDU module incorporates a Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) meter to
monitor RF mismatching between antenna and TRDU main antenna connection. This
VSWR meter monitors Return loss at antenna main port connection. Two VSWR
thresholds are monitored, corresponding to two alarm levels reported on CPRI interface.

Figure 6-17 TRDU internal architecture

The TRDU module can be used in different modes regarding antenna system, depending
on Tower Mounted Amplifier (TMA) use and/or AISG Antenna Line Device (ALD) use:
No TMA mode
Antenna outputs and antenna(s) are directly connected through RF feeders.
TMA mode
An additional amplifier is added on each antenna branch in order to compensate
feeder loss on uplink path.
Two sub-modes with TMA can be used:
TMA UMTS mode: in this mode, the TMA is powered and monitored from the
TRDU module.
TMA Mix mode: in this mode, the TRDU module manages only extra gain on
uplink paths introduced by the TMA. This mode can be used in case of antenna
sharing with another system (the TMA is powered and monitored from this
system), or in case of AISG TMA (the TMA is powered and monitored by the
AISG primary device).

Overview
The ICO module was intended to interconnect digital signals and the power supply
between digital shelf modules, the power supply unit, and the RF block modules in the
9311 Macro V1 OD legacy cabinet. As long as digital connection between the digital
shelf and the RF block modules are limited to front module CPRI connections, the ICO
module function in the 9311 Macro V1 OD with d4U is reduced to provide only the
power supply to RF modules.

Functional description
The RF ICO is not used within 9311 Macro V2 OD with DBS 4U.
The PA ICO module distributes -48 V DC power supply from PSU to up to six TRDU
modules.

Electrical interfaces
The interconnection module is powered by the cabinet via a direct connection on the bus
bar.

Cooling System
Overview
The cooling system provides the climatic control for the BTS. It consists of one iDACS .
It is used to control the ambient environment of the outdoor enclosure.
The iDACS is installed at the top of the cabinet and is accessed through the front hinged
access doors.
An electronic module, inside the iDACS, controls the cooling and heating functions of the
iDACS. From both the internal cabinet air temperature and the external ambient air
temperature, it then selects the level of environmental control necessary to maintain full
operational performance of the electronic equipment installed within the BTS.

Description
Important! A space is kept empty on each side of the iDACS to let the air flow.
Storage of equipments on either side of the iDACS is forbidden.
The main components of the iDACS are the following:
Two dc blowers
One printed circuit assembly for control functions
One air filter
One damper
One modulating dc motor
One air inlet switch
Two temperature control sensors
Two heaters and their associated thermostats

Principles of operation
A damper is used to control the internal air temperature of the BTS.
When fully closed, the damper excludes the outside air and air circulates within the
cabinet.
When the damper is fully open, there is no recirculation within the cabinet, the iDACS
then operates by drawing ambient air that is routed through the electronic equipment
installed in the cabinet and ejected via outlet ducts located at the sides of the iDACS.
At intermediate position, the damper is adjusted automatically to give a mix of
recirculated and external air, to achieve a nominal internal operating temperature of 25C.
For low external ambient air temperatures, the internal cabinet air temperature is
maintained above +50C by the operation of one or two heaters.

Modes of operation
The iDACS is able to operate in two modes:
Non speed control mode: in this mode, fans operate continuously at full speed.
Speed control mode: in this mode, the iDACS analyzes the external ambient
temperature and automatically selects slow (S) or high (S2) fan speed.
If the ambient external air temperature is below +40C, the fan speed selection is slow
speed.
Full speed is selected when one of the following conditions occurs:
Ambient external air temperature exceeds +40C
A fault condition exists

LED indicators
The control board of the iDACS monitors the performance of the cooling and heating
circuits.
The operation of the iDACS is monitored with eight LEDs. In normal operation, all the
LEDs must be illuminated and a non illuminated LED is an indication of a failure.
The LEDs are visible from the front panel of the iDACS.

Electrical specification
During normal operation, the iDACS uses its own internal ac/dc rectifying system.

d4U: Upgrade path

Overview
Purpose
This chapter describes the operation in order to upgrade an existing site. An upgrade
consists of one of the following operations:
Adding or removing an xCEM-U/eCEM-U to the pool of usable CEMs
Increasing the number of PCMs (multi PCM)

Adding or removing a CEM
An xCEM-U or eCEM-U is added to the pool of usable CEMs in the following cases:
The CEM is mapped to a spare CCP (configured by OAM)
The operational state of the CEM is enabled, which means that:
The CEM is running with the correct software
The OAM link between the CEM and the CCM is established
The CEM is not in failure
The administrative state of the CEM is unlocked
Note: if the CEM is in an enabled operation state, but no CCP is available, the
CEM is considered as a spare and cannot be used for call processing.
A CEM is removed from the pool of usable CEMs in the following cases:
The operational state of the CEM becomes disabled. This happens when:
The CEM module is totally or partially in failure. The Node B does not manage
degraded CEMs
The module is physically removed from the Node B
The administrative state of the CEM becomes locked
Adding a CEM to the pool of CEMs is done at startup.
The CEM pool is managed as a single source of processing power through the load
balancing feature.
The CEM pool management offers to the xCEM-U and eCEM-U a coexistence inside the
Node B digital shelf, while ensuring the heterogeneous management of various module
types as a common resource for Node B call-processing.

Increasing the number of PCMs (multi PCM)

It is possible to use more than one PCM link to increase the backhaul capacity.
The Node B supports two Multi PCM features for the external connection:
Multi PCM without IMA
Multi PCM with IMA (or IMA over PCM)
The impact of both PCM features on the network are different.

Multi PCM without IMA
The connection between the Node B and the RNC provides the following functions:
Up to 4 PCMs per Node B, each with its own UNI interface, between the Node B and
the Access Equipment (both RNC PCM and RNC SDH configurations are supported)
A single full or fractional PCM per Node B (possibly with Drop and Insert), or
multiple full PCMs (without Drop and Insert)
No redundancy management is currently supported
Limited defense to detecting VCC failures, cleaning up calls on those VCCs, and not
using them for future calls until they return to service

Node B-ATM connections

The two types of PCMs used for ATM connections are the following:
Primary PCMs (PCM 2, PCM 3, and PCM 4) connects to the Node B Control Port
(Node B CP)
Secondary PCM (PCM 1 only) connects to the OAM

IMA over PCM

The purpose of IMA is to multiplex ATM cell streams over PCM links and to retrieve the
original stream at far end from these links. IMA is supported on all Node B types.
IMA is used to increase the cell stream throughput between the Node B and the RNC. It
provides a physical layer for Iub and for Node B specific O&M signaling. It also provides
transparent transport of the ATM layer and higher
The IMA provides:
A physical layer for Iub
A physical layer for Node B specific O&M signaling
Transparency of the ATM layer and higher layers
The Node B IMA feature provides also up to eight ports per IMA group. That is one to
eight physical ports per logical UNI.
The IMA combines the cell from physical ports for transport with preservation of cell
order and cell format.
The following figure shows an example of how an IMA link group can be used on the
transmission interface between the Node B and the RNC via the Access Equipment.

The Access Equipment provides a hub function (switching, routing) for the Node B. It is
located in small concentration hub sites like the Node B sites. It allows aggregating traffic
from several Node Bs. The Access Equipment offers more connectivity to the Node B
site.
The Access Equipment supports the following features:
Multi PCM
IMA on PCM E1/T1
Fractional E1/T1 to achieve Drop&Insert UMTS-UMTS and GSM-UMTS
Note: In case of Multi PCM without IMA feature, none of the Multi PCM can be
fractional. The fractional E1/T1 and Multi PCM without IMA features are not
compatible.

The drop and insert function implies the support of ATM over fractional E1 in the Node
B. The drop and insert function consists in the routing of data for other Node Bs through
the Node B. This is done through the routing of some PCM time slot from an incoming
PCM to an outgoing one.

Using the TIL tool

Introduction
The Local Installation Terminal (TIL) is an O&M on-site terminal. The TIL is used for the
installation, tests, and maintenance of the equipment described in this document.

TIL functions
The TIL provides the following functions:
Displays the existing hardware of the equipment
Automatically displays new hardware
Basic maintenance and test capabilities for equipment modules
Saves reports (including alarm, test reports) on a laptop
Retrieves the hardware and software module configuration
Configures commissioning parameters

TIL connection to the equipment

The TIL is connected to the CCM module through the Ethernet connection.
Two connection modes are available from the TIL:
Peer-to-peer connection
In this mode, the TIL connection to the equipment depends on the CCM module type,
as described in the following table:

If the CCM module hosted in the Then the TIL is connected to the...
equipment is a...
xCCM-U/eCCM-U Ethernet port 1 of the CCM module
(Ethernet port 2 not used in a configuration
with DBS 4U)

Remote connection
In this mode, the TIL is connected to a LAN/WAN network. This connection is
available only if the equipment is integrated in the UMTS network and active (not
locked).
The connection can be checked by doing a ping [IP address] command.
