Introduction
Teaching practice is the subject that aims to prepare students of teaching course to be
teachers, and during the course training there are many things that students learn, one of them
is how to deal with students. In fact, we are going to be teachers, so its important to know
more about it and know how does it work because after ending up this course we are going to
the field and see what does really happen in the school.

Taking into account the poor conditions of our country Mozambique, in particular MENED,
we as teachers we are more likely to find out situations whereby the classrooms that we are
going to face if we become teachers probably will provide us different and bad conditions in
terms of didactic materials, space and number of students. Therefore, this subject comes to
teach us the appropriate methods and techniques to minimize or even overcome all these
matters. It is also very important for teachers to be to make use of teaching practices because
during this process of being trained to be teachers fortunately we learn through other teachers
how they deal with their students.

For these reasons, we went to EPC de Matadouro to know how this institution works.
Therefore, this report is to inform all theoretical and practical activities that were done at
school, and to bring an overview of the institution about the physical aspects, pedagogical
description and administrative description.

General objectives:
1- To provide the general information about the school;
2- To do the physical observations of Escola Primaria 1 e 2 grau de Matadouro.

Specific objective:
1. To see the infrastructures;
2. The organization and management of school;
3. To see the environment of the school,

Critical questions:
1. Is the school in good conditions?
2. Does the school follow the rules established by the ministry of education?
3. Are they organized?
4. Are there enough teachers for students?
Hypothesis
1. The school provides good conditions.
2. They follow the rules established by the ministry of education.
3. They are organized.
4. There are enough teachers for the students.

Methodology
To collect data and analyze the information that contain in the report were used the following
methodologies:

Bibliographic research- it allowed to collect some ideas or suggestion of authors

concerned to teaching practice.
Direct observation- we did the physical observation of the school and administrative
where we collected a document of institution.
Interview- was done interviews to the director of the school and other members.
Field research- it allowed us to collect information about the school and also
provided us the additional issues related to the institution.
Literature review
One of the first aspects that we focused more on is where the children or students always play
their games, and we discovered that they have a large space for physical education, but the
ground was not well organized, and Fuller (1999) comes to criticize that aspect by saying that
physical learning environments or the places, in which formal learning occurs, range from
relatively modern and well-equipped buildings to open-air gathering places. And this
association claims also that the quality of the school buildings may be related to other school
issues, such as the presence of adequate instructional materials and textbooks, working
conditions for students and teachers, and the ability of teachers to undertake certain
instructional approach.

When we were carrying out observation we could understand that the school has some
disabled students, and those students are also included by the teachers to participate in the
lessons, furthermore (Mitchell: 1995) goes along with those teachers by arguing that
reducing other forms of discrimination is also critical to quality improvement in learning
environments. Most countries, in all parts of the world, struggle with effective inclusion of
students with special needs and disabilities.

During the observation we realized that the school does not have large library, besides, the
library has lack of material such as books, visual aids and so on. According to (UNICEF:
2000 literacy, or the ability to read and write, is often considered one of the primary goals of
formal education
Pre-observation
We could not write this report without the explanation of teacher, first we were taught how to
do correctly the research as well to elaborate a report, and during the lessons and seminars
were raised so many questions related to the teaching practice by the students and almost all
of them were answered. Before we start with our work, were accompanied by our supervisor
to the school with the purpose to introduce us to the representative of the institution and vice
versa.

Observation
This report is based on the information collected at Escola Primaria de Matadouro with the
purpose of demonstrate how does the institution function, the criteria to do observation was
interview to the direction of the school, we also used questionnaires as a tool to collect data,
so in chapter II will be shown the results of the observation.

School organization
During the interview/observation we could find out that the school is divided into 4 sectors:

1. Director office;
2. Pedagogical department;
3. Secretary office;
4. Teachers room.
Shifts
In terms of period, the school has two shifts, those children that study in the morning start
with the lessons at 7:30 am up to 12:10 am, and those are studying in afternoon start with the
lessons at 12:30 up to 5:10 pm.

Extracurricular activity
The extracurricular activity of this school takes place in holidays and weekends. Students are
supposed to play games according to their age. The responsible of this organization is one of
the teachers of physical education and he is the one who takes care of all the material that is
used to practice.

The function of the director

The function of the director of the school is to organise the classrooms and to solve problems
concerned to school. The supporter director teaches one of the classes, he also helps the
director to control and to take care of the school.

Normative documents
According to director, the institution has all normative documents.

Library
The school has a library but it is so small and has few books, and it interferes in learning
process because not all students will have access to the books. Besides, the books that are in
there most of them are not related to the subjects that students use. So, the books are to for
students to read foe leisure.

Students with special needs

Especial needs for disabled students is something very important, however, teachers of Escola
Primaria 1 e 2 grau de Matadouro are facing serious problems because they are not prepared
to deal with this kind of students, for instance, some have insanity, vision problems and other
troubles, thus, they end up applying methods that are supposed to teach normal students while
there are some who want specific methods. Although, teachers were not prepared to deal with
disabled students they try to help them in order to overcome their problems and to improve
their learning process.
Health centre
The health for students and teachers is guaranteed, because school have someone who is
responsible for that area, although she is not a nurse but at least she knows how to deal with
things related to Health.

Pos-observation
In post-observation, we analysed whether there is relationship between seminars that we had
and field research, and was concluded that it was true they overlap, in one of the seminars we
were taught that if you want to be provided information during your research, you must
respect and smile all workers of the institution because we will rely on them during the
process of collecting data.
Conclusion

Teaching practice is a subject very important for teachers to be, because it has several
methods and techniques that can be applied when we become teachers, as we could see that
Escola Primaria 1 e 2 grau de Matadouro has some problems concerned to disabled student
because teachers are not prepared to deal with them. As it was said before, the aim of this
work was to observe and collect information about Escola Primaria 1 e 2 grau de Matadouro,
we could realize that the school at least is organised with very good environment to attend
lessons, although the school doesnt have canteen for students, and it may bring some
negative aspects because the students may end up jumping the fence to buy lunch outside the
school. The other thing surprised us is large amount of girls rather than boys, which shows
that ultimately women are given the same rights like men.

.
Suggestion
During our activities, we perceived that there are good and bad aspects in the institution. For
instance, one of bad aspect is concerned to disabled students in which are facing serious
problems in learning. Apart from that, according to what we have seen in the school, we could
discovered that many teachers dont know that strategies of dealing with those kind of
students. Therefore, it would be better if the government trains teachers to work with those
who want special needs. Another aspect is concerned to the library, it does not make sense
one of the biggest primary school of Maxixe with small library and lack of books, it somehow
affects negatively in process of learning because there is no enough material for children to
practice, so, they must try to ask for the government especially to the ministry of education in
order to provide them material and large room that is going to help students and teachers in
process of teaching and learning.
