Envirosol XS is a water-based solvent system designed specifically to remove asphaltene and wax deposits from
mineral surfaces in the reservoir and leave behind a water-wet environment. It is usually assumed that if asphaltene
and wax deposition has occurred in the matrix, then the rock is oil-wet. Xylene has been used historically to remove
these organic deposits, in spite of its danger to the environment and hazardous nature. Xylene dissolves bulk
asphaltene and wax deposits but does not have the ability to change the wettability of a sandstone because it is non-
polar and does not have a micellar structure. A surfactant is therefore needed to reverse the wetting condition. In
laboratory testing it has been demonstrated that surfactants in xylene are not always capable of water wetting the
formation surfaces. The analysis of flowback samples from a xylene treatment done in the field conclusively
demonstrated that adsorption of asphaltenes was cause by the aromatic solvent treatment. Envirosol XS effectively
cleans the oil-wet surfaces and minimizes re-adsorption of asphaltenes.

Features

Environmentally Friendlier than common Aromatic Solvents

It is a non-petroleum base solvent, naturally occurring chemical that is completely biodegradable in a short period
of time.

Solvent for Wax Deposits

All types of waxy deposits are 100% soluble in Envirosol XS.

Water- Wets the Formation

Leaves the formation surfaces water-wet. Typical xylene treatments do not.

Crude Oil De-Emulsifier

The system is completely compatible with crude oil and will not cause emulsions.

Envirosol XS has been tested with HCl systems, HF-HCl Acids, Acetic and Formic, most of our Surfactants, Iron
Control agents, Inhibitors.

Solvent for Asphaltic Deposits

Effectively dissolves and disperses asphaltic deposits in the reservoir matrix.

It improves formation relative permeability to oil by cleaning the mineral surfaces in the matrix and changing the

Prevents re-adsorption of all polar aromatic components in crude oil during and after treatment.
Will de-emulsify existing water/oil emulsions and prevent the generation of emulsions between the treatment
fluids and crude oil.
Reduces acid-induced asphaltene sludging when used as a preflush to acidizing treatments.
Removes near-wellbore skin damage caused by the accumulation of asphaltene and wax deposits.
All these properties combine to enhance production when Paraffin and/or Asphaltenes are the cause of the
reduction.

Safety Precautions

Being a water-baseD fluid, flammability is greatly reduced and the nature of its components make it very safe to
handle, taking into account that it is a solvent and normal precautions to avoid skin contact or ingestion are to be
followed. No special safety wellsite control is required when pumping it as when pumping any aromatic solvent
used conventionally.
