United Kingdom: Newton Fund Opportunity - Understanding of the Impacts of

Hydrometeorological Hazards in Southeast Asia. Deadline (notification of intent) 4 December

Proposals are invited to five research programmes to improve understanding of the

impacts of hydrometeorological hazards, such as floods, droughts, landslides and
storm surges, in Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.
Funding for collaborative bilateral research projects involving researchers from the
UK and Indonesia, UK and Malaysia, UK and Vietnam, UK and Thailand, and the
UK and the Philippines, respectively. Up to 15 million is available from NERC and ESRC per Southeast
Asian country for this call. More info here

UK-Vietnam Partnerships for Infectious Disease Research. Call for Expressions of interest.
Deadline 7 November

The funders wish to support biomedical research in infectious diseases of

importance to the Vietnamese population, which will lead to health benefits in
Vietnam, particularly for the poorest and most vulnerable in society. This call for
collaborative proposals will require applicants based in Vietnam and the UK to work
together in partnership on research projects. Details here

Spain: 61 Postdoctoral Fellowships Available in the EU supported PROBIST Programme. ASEAN

Researchers Eligible. Deadline 5 November

The PROBIST Programme is supported by the European Commission through

the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions. All together, 61 fellowships will be
awarded and implemented in top research institutes in the Barcelona and
Tarragona area (Spain). Details here

Germany: Doctoral Fellowships in the A.R.T.E.S. EUmanities Programme. Deadline 3 November,

2017

The a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne offers scholarships for
admitting doctoral students to one of the seven interdisciplinary graduate classes of
the structured doctoral model Integrated Track. The structured model of the
Integrated Track, enables doctoral students to complete a high-quality dissertation
within three years in a lively interdisciplinary research environment. Details here

Spain: Research Funding Opportunity for ASEAN Researchers in the Field of Dermatology.
Deadline 31 December

R&D funding opportunity of Spanish pharma company ALMIRALL. Almirall Share is a

new innovation initiative aimed at boosting collaborative research in the field of
dermatology with universities, research centres, hospitals, start-ups, biotechs around
the world bringing together smart minds to provide solutions for skin diseases such as
psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne or rosacea. Funding per project from 25,000 to

Austria: Young Scientists Summer Programme at the International Institute for Applied Systems
Analysis (IIASA). ASEAN Researchers Encouraged to Apply. Deadline 1 December.

IIASAs annual 3- month Young Scientists Summer Programme (YSSP) in Austria offers
research opportunities to talented PhD students whose interests correspond with IIASA's
ongoing research on issues of global environmental, economic and social change. The
programme offers a wide range of scientific events, including both social and natural
sciences, often with important policy dimensions. Details here

France: PhD Scholarships at the World-renowned Institut Pasteur. ASEAN Students Eligible. Call
Now Open.

The Institut Pasteur organizes a doctoral program for students holding a master
degree or the equivalent in science, medicine and related fields. Students conduct
their research in one of the 120 laboratories of the Institut Pasteur. Topics covered
include Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology,
Genomics, Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Enzymology and Metabolism, Biological Chemistry,
Virology, Parasitology, Medical Mycology, Epidemiology, Infectiology, Imaging, Neurosciences,

United Kingdom: Presidents PhD Scholarships at Imperial College. ASEAN Students Eligible.

If you are a high performing undergraduate or Master's student and have a strong
desire to undertake a PhD programme at a world class research institution, you could
be selected to receive full tuition fees and a generous stipend for a PhD place at
Imperial College London. The Presidents PhD Scholarships aims to provide up to 50
research students with great potential the opportunity to work within their chosen research field with the

Germany: PhD at Berlin Mathematical School. ASEAN Students Eligible. Deadline 1 December

The Berlin Mathematical School offers a fast-track doctoral program in the rapidly
developing scientific landscape of Berlin presenting an exciting variety of possibilities
both for mathematical research and graduate education. As a BMS student, you will
join a diverse community of fellow graduate students coming from over 50 countries

Europe (multiple locations): 8 PhD Positions in the Marie Skodowska Curie ETN - training
network Improving Genome Editing Efficiency (IMGENE). ASEAN Researchers Eligible.
Deadline: 30 November

The IMGENE consortium unites expert European research groups of academia and industry
to address by innovative and complementary approaches the low efficiency of precise
genome editing using CRISPR technology. IMGENE will establish novel tools and protocols
for improved CRISPR genome editing efficiency that will be of immediate benefit for health
and life science research, the pharmaceutical industry, and the application of gene therapy.
