BYU-Idaho Preschool Lesson Plan

PHASE #1
Lesson Plan #5
Lab 3
Camping

Date: Friday, October 7th, 2016

Supervisor: Alyssa Frazier
Lead Teacher: Katie Davis (Allred)

Pre-assessment and Findings:

Charlie:
My current pre-assessment is limited to my home visits but during that time I was able to
ask a few of the Children their knowledge about camping. When I asked Charlie about
camping he told me I went camping last week for my birthday and when I asked him
questions like, What do you sleep in when you camp he answered with A tent. So
overall I learned that Charlie had a pretty good knowledge of what camping is and
how to do it.
Della:
Though when I asked Della about camping she didnt really know much about it, but
she said it sounded fun. We talked about camping in tents and building fires. She said
sounded fun but wasnt a fan of bugs that are found outside.
James:
During self selected time, I talked to James about going camping. His response was I
saw a shooting star last time I went. I them talked to him about his last camping
experience and he told me he had fun but now it is too cold to go anymore.

Children and Learning/Development Goals:

1. Della: Her goal is working with scissors, numbers and the alphabet. During creative art
activity she will have an opportunity to work on her fine motor skills.
2. Danny: His parents goals for him are to work on his social skills. The dramatic play
area will help him to engage in fantasy play with his peers.
3. Charlie: His goal is to work on his literally skills. He will have an opportunity to read
during self -selected and he will have a book read to him during small focus groups.
4. Eli: his parents thought that he should work on his fine motor skills. The creative arts
table will give him a chance to work with cutting and ripping small pieces of paper,
which will help with his fine motor skills.
5. Paige: Her mom wants her to really focus on colors. During dramatic play we can
focus on what color the stars are and what color the tent is.
6. Eli: His mom wanted to make sure that he focused on his social skills, along with
Danny he can work on those skills during dramatic play as they engage in fantasy play.

Ideas to be emphasized:
1. When we are camping we need to have the right equipment like; tents,
flashlights, food and water.
